The Amazing Spider-Man Movie Title Revealed

A new photo of the webslinger as well

Columbia Pictures has rolled out some new material on the Spider-man reboot due on July 3, 2012 and it's a two-fer today. First up, we've gotten the official name of the film as it will be "The Amazing Spider-Man", which we'll admit is a welcome choice rather than the way most films go by adding numbers or doing something wonky with a reboot. Capitalizing on one of the series names, the main one in fact, gives the impression of going back to some of the core aspects of the original work.

Secondly, they've released a photo of Andrew Garfield as Spider-man in it, which you can see below.

The film, which is now in production and is being shot entirely in 3D, will be released on July 3, 2012. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the Marvel Entertainment production for Columbia Pictures. The executive producers are Stan Lee, Kevin Feige, and Michael Grillo. The film’s official website is http://www.TheAmazingSpiderMan-movie.com.

Does this get you pumped or just worry you more about the Marc Webb reboot?

Even though I think the costume is a bit funny looking compared to the comics I won't bash the movie because of it.  The blue in the gloves is a little hoaky but oh, well.  This pick actually looks better than all the other pics we've seen and of which, I bet are on stunt costumes anyway.

"Amazing" in the title seems appropriate.  Not sure why they didn't do that with Raimi's first one.

After "Amazing", the sequel could be "Spectacular" and the third installment "Web of".

The pic looks good.  Not sure what the suit is made of, but it looks like the material they make cheap rubber dodge balls out of.  Anyone notice they don't show the shoes in this shot?

Love the title, pic looks awesome.

I will see this movie. Oh yes, I will.  But I will wait until it has a DVD release.  I do not think I will see it at the theatre.  Then again... they might put out a really good trailer that will force me to go.

UNRELATED BUT POSSIBLE THE DARK KNIGHT RISES SPOILER ALERT:

Oh, on an unrrelated not I read somewhere, I forgot where, that Gordon Levitt will play Calendar Killer.  Makes sense since he is Falcone's son and they said a villain from this movie will tie to characters from Batman Begins and such.  We'll see.

Ok so for all those people that were complaining about the costume shots taken by people with their cell phones, what do u have to say now?? haha

Well for me, the new details and patterns of the costume are definitley growing on me. Looks pretty sick.

p.s. damn the mechanical web shooters!!!

I am a HUGE fan of Sam Raimi's (First 2) Spidrer-Man Movies.

NEVER was really on board for a Re-boot so soon, BUT I'm more open to it now. It's just like buying a different title of Spidey, with a new writer and artist. While I would've LOVED to see more Raimi helmed Spidey adventures, I'll be there to see this on opening night. This pic looks AWESOME!

AND having just watched "500 days of Summer" Which I really enjoyed, and Garfield in "The Social Network" which he was great in, I'm down for this movie.

Besides Spidey in 3-d could be awesome, but I wear glasses, and HATE watchong 3-D movies cause I gotta wear the 3D glases over my regular glasses.

It get's me pumped about it.  I did feel it was a little soon for a reboot.  But Knowing where they are starting the movie timeline wise in the Spideyverse I'm growing to be okay with it.  Plus they are putting a ton of effort it looks like into what the story is going to tell.

Amazing Spiderman is a great name.
