Columbia Pictures has rolled out some new material on the Spider-man reboot due on July 3, 2012 and it's a two-fer today. First up, we've gotten the official name of the film as it will be "The Amazing Spider-Man", which we'll admit is a welcome choice rather than the way most films go by adding numbers or doing something wonky with a reboot. Capitalizing on one of the series names, the main one in fact, gives the impression of going back to some of the core aspects of the original work.
Secondly, they've released a photo of Andrew Garfield as Spider-man in it, which you can see below.
The film, which is now in production and is being shot entirely in 3D, will be released on July 3, 2012. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the Marvel Entertainment production for Columbia Pictures. The executive producers are Stan Lee, Kevin Feige, and Michael Grillo. The film’s official website is http://www.TheAmazingSpiderMan-movie.com.
Does this get you pumped or just worry you more about the Marc Webb reboot?

Even though I think the costume is a bit funny looking compared to the comics I won't bash the movie because of it. The blue in the gloves is a little hoaky but oh, well. This pick actually looks better than all the other pics we've seen and of which, I bet are on stunt costumes anyway.
