The trailer for the upcoming mini-series The Andromeda Strain is online courtesy of the official A&E website. The upcoming remake of the Michael Crichton novel is getting adapted by director Mikael Saloman (Band of Brothers) and produced by Ridley Scott and Tony Scott through their Scott Free shingle. Plot Concept: A U.S. satellite crash-lands near a small town in Utah, unleashing a deadly plague that kills virtually everyone except two survivors - an old man and an infant, who may provide clues to immunizing the population. As the military attempts to quarantine the area, a team of highly specialized scientists are assembled to find a cure and stop the spread of the alien pathogen, code-named Andromeda.

Looks pretty good. I started reading the book a long time ago, but I was more into Terminal Man and others of Crichton's books. I didn't even know this mini-series was being put in production either. A&E seems to be stepping up their original programming now.

I remember awhile back that Sci-Fi was going to do this as a mini but it never worked out. This looks pretty tight. Can't wait to watch it. Its been awhile since I've seen The Ricker in anything.

It happens in Utah,,,,so a bunch of Mormons die,,,I could think of worse things.....This does look pretty bad ass, esp. for A&E......I agree Gauley, I love Tony Scott's movies lately. Very fast paced. I love that. And it's nicde to know that my movie about a disease from outter space is brought to me by Sonic.

maybe they will do an update of terminal man as well, that book was awesome.

I'm glad it's a mini series, and not another movie, and not just because it's free to watch. It should be great considering the director. I hope to see this.

Tony Scott didn't direct this btw... Mikael Saloman did. Tony and Ridley Scott produced it.

Still, it looks pretty good. Solid cast, good production values... I think I'll be tuning in.

I have read the book... boring.... there are great parts but there is a lot of blah in the middle.

I hope A&E does a better job of adapting this than they did of THE LATHE OF HEAVEN a few years ago.
