Anime Boston - TokyoPop

Jonathan Chen kicked off the panel by going through a bunch of their existing series and product lines. The main focus of the panel seemed to consist primarily on their Global Manga titles.

A new line will be started soon called "Manga Readers" in which will be targeted to the younger crowd that will contain small stories along with artwork.

TokyoPop is working to create original stories based on Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Something to note is that Jake Forbes is currently doing the writing for Labyrinth.


During the question and answer session of the panel, it was confirmed that ToykoPop does not currently hold the licence for the Spiral manga, that they are looking into several older manga titles (but could not confirm any specific titles obviously) and that Funimation is just distributing TokyoPop's DVD releases.
