Sounds like AnimEigo is moving to DVD only for their releases, like UY. No
more VHS.
They showed a demo disc of the cleanup work they are doing on Macross -
lots of split screening (left old, right new). It looks GREAT. Colors are all
richer, lines are crisp, blacks are BLACK and not dark grey, etc. It looks
better than any other version of the footage I've seen, including the Japanese
LDs. And interesting point - Harmony Gold is helping to fund the work and they
have the right to use the remastered footage as well. ADV's Robotech? Doubtful
- it'd have to be massively editited to remake Robotech. But an interesting
thought.
M2K is busily remastering BGC. The new set will have all the Hurricane Live
materials. The trade-in/upgrade program is being developed.
