Anime Expo - Charity Auction

By Andrew Tei     July 06, 2003

David Kapp / Cthulhu

Ahh, the Anime Expo charity auction. If you ever wanted to see lots of neat stuff selling for prices that you couldn?t hope to pay, this is the place. There was no $16,000

Item this year, unfortunately, but there was still a lot of good stuff, and many items
Sold for several thousand dollars. The charity that the auction funded this year was once again City of Hope, who retuned after a short hiatus last year as funds were raised for a 9/11 fund. John Taylor of City of Hope gave a short speech thanking AX and anime fans, and the preparations for the auction began to draw to a close.

Before the auction began, all interested persons (most of the people in the hall) were allowed to walk along the stage for a moment and see all the items. There were many nice things this year, please peruse the list below and see what you think.

Please note that no photography was allowed (lots of people took a few photos anyway, but none are allowed to be published), so there are no pictures provided here, sorry. They claimed that this was due to copyright issues, but I wonder about that. I mean, if there are copyright issues with the artwork here, what about all of the other things at the con? If you take a picture of ?anything- at AX, you?re bound to end up with copyrighted material in your photo? oh well. Anyways, enjoy the list.
