The Dark Horse Anime Expo Industry Panel took place on July 4, 2008 at 1pm. The panel comprised of Editor Carl Horn, Director of Asian Licensing Michael Gombos, Director of Publicity Jeremy Atkins, and Editorial Assistant Samantha Robertson.
Carl passed around copies of Clover volumes 1-4, and production prints of Blood+. Please note: CLOVER #4 was taken from the Dark Horse Industry Panel.
Whoever took it please return it immediately to the Dark Horse booth in the AX dealer room. Dark Horse just wants their copy back and will accept this as a simple mistake. This is a copy used in production and not getting it back will impact future cons and passing out audience copies to review.
This is the 20th anniversary of Dark Horse and Yoshitaka Amano, creator of the Vampire Hunter D series, created this 20th year logo for Dark Horse. At their AX booth, Dark Horse is giving away free copies of this poster, with lists of their titles on the back. At San Diego Comic Con Dark Horse will be selling an exclusive high quality version of this poster at their booth. Also only at San Diego Comic Con, Dark Horse will be selling a limited edition yellow Domo figurine available to the first 250 customers at their booth.
Dark Horse will release Clover in one omnibus edition, made up of volumes 1-4, in March of 2009. This edition will contain digitally remastered portions by Clamp. Carl talked about the schedule of Dark Horse releases and before Q&A mentioned two titles they recently have taken on:
Carl outlined portions of the Dark Horse release schedule as:
The folks Dark Horse folks then took Q&A for about 45 minutes. A couple notable questions were:
Q: Can you tell us about the Clamp Mangettes?
A: Michael - There will be some arts, plot summaries. Dark Horse won't be saying much at San Diego Comic Con, but look on the website in later 2008.
Q: Why will Astro Boy be released as an omnibus edition?
A: Samantha - There is a wait and see approach on Volumes 1&2. This will be the original look, no extras. Dark Horse will see what the sales are like, then will look at the rest of the release schedule.
The last of the Q&A went until 2:20pm, and then Dark Horse concluded the panel.
