Stephen started the panel by reviewing Geneon's upcoming cd releases. One of the newer licenses includes the Sonic Heroes soundtrack, which is coming out in November. A representative from Sega was also on hand to discuss the history of the Sonic games and the upcoming cd. Stephen pointed out that the upcoming Sister Princess ~ Twelve Angels cd is an image album. He also mentioned that English translations for the drama tracks on the Love Hina Again and Ai Yori Aoshi - Enishi OSTs will be posted on Geneon's website. Translations will only be available online due to packaging constraints (thick insert booklets simply won't fit in cd cases). Nobu mentioned that the company recently signed a new retail distribution deal with Trans World, which owns FYE and Wherehouse Music stores. The deal includes selling 28 cd titles in 75 stores.
There were a fair number of questions during the panel. One person asked if Geneon has any intention of releasing the rest of the Para Para cds. Nobu replied that based on discussions with Geneon Japan, there would be difficulties since the many copyright holders. When asked about why the ROD TV soundtrack was split into two separate cd releases even though the Japanese release is a two-disc bundle, Nobu pointed out that the decision was based on the fact that royalties for 60 tracks is not cheap. Stephen followed up by stating that buying both domestic cds will still be less expensive than buying the import version. I asked about the status of the Buy 4 Get 1 Free promotion, and Stephen answered the free cds should be mailed out next month.
