[Q] - Question
[K] - KOTOKO
[Q] Has your major debut had any effects on your song writing for I've?
[K] The biggest difference with the major debut is my work incorporates a lot more acoustic instrumental sounds, whereas with I've it was more of a program type music.
[Q] You're from Hokkaido, correct?
[K] Yes.
[Q] Did you work from Hokkaido on I've projects?
[K] Yes.
[Q] How often do you see or work with the other I've singers?
[K] It's pretty irregular. It's hard to say. If there's a lot of projects going on, I'll get together with the other singers probably once a week .
[Q] All of I've's earlier projects are for game companies. What brought you to working on game projects?
[K] One of the senior members of I've Sound befriended me at school. I was approached by her and asked to take an audition. She felt my voice really fit I've Sound.
[Q] Besides the I've game cds, there are several miscellaneous, non-game, music cds. Were you involved in any of those projects?
[K] (*thinks for a little bit*) Yes.
[Q] What sort of information do you get about projects before writing songs?
[K] It really depends on the project. If there's a lot of information, I'll get a whole script or character design. It could be a synopsis. Depending on the maker, they may give me a few keywords for inspiration.
[Q] Has I've ever done live concert performances?
[K] No yet.
[Q] Regarding your fanclub, is it called Mutant Dwarf?
[K] Yes.
[Q] Will it be open to international membership?
[K] We would like to. ["we" referring to KOTOKO and her manager, who was also in the room]
[Q] Where do you get the inspiration for your choice of words when writing lyrics?
[K] When it's a theme song, I will write down some words or phrases from the script and use that as inspiration. For other songs, like original songs I write, a lot of times it's scenery or visual images I have that I transform into words.
[Q] How did you get into the music industry?
[K] As a professional entry, it was my audition with I've Sound.
