Anime Expo - Shojo Beat Panel Report

Viz's Shojo Beat magazine has just celebrated its first anniversary, and as it enters its second year of publication, they'll be adding more color editorial and more color manga pages to the magazine. Their scheduled releases are as follows:

July: Skip-Beat (every 2 months)

September: Beauty Pop (every 3 months), Cain Saga (every 3 months), La Corda d'Oro (every 2 months), Tail of the Moon (every 2 months), Manga Artist Academy (which will feature tips on creating manga with Yuu Watase)

November: Punch! (every 2 months) , Be With You (a Shojo Beat fiction hard cover)

January: Vampire Knight (every 2 months)

March: Gentleman's Alliance

The panel also mentioned that they now have a myspace page and they are looking for friends:

At Otakon, their guest of honor will be Nana Kitade, and she will be judging the Goth-Loli contest at that convention. Viz will also be at San Diego Comicon and their guest of honor there will be Matsuri Hino. In response to a question about live action films related to Shojo Beat manga titles, the panel mentioned that Viz has newly established a Viz Pictures division, which will be soon releasing Train Man: Densha Otoko.
