One area that tends to get fans buzzing a bit is to see whether any studio even tries to submit some of their possible titles into the ring for the Oscars. The animated category has had its selections put out this morning and there are two titles that are up for the potential nod as finalists in the running.
Sony is again on the ball as they make their push with Sky Crawlers while Bandai Entertainment is giving things another go, this time with their upcoming release of Sword of the Stranger.
The non-anime titles due up for consideration, ones that are quite a bit more likely to take the nod because of their familiarity as well as the Pixar name, are Bolt, Delgo, Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who, Dragon Hunters, Fly Me to the Moon, Igor, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar: Excape 2 Africa, $9.99, Tale of Despereaux, Waltz with Bashir, and Wall-E.
Neither Sony or Bandai have set up home video release dates for the two titles that they have under consideration. Both titles are planned for a DVD and Blu-ray release however.
