AnimEigo announces LONE WOLF AND CUB re-release

AnimEigo, the company responsible for the domestic DVD releases of such anime classics as OH MY GODDESS! and AD POLICE FILES, announced that they're issuing a re-release of the cult hit film LONE WOLF AND CUB. The news was issued at this weekend's Anime Expo in Long Beach, CA.
The DVD release will feature a brand new 35mm wet-gate low con print made from the original negative, which has been archived in Japan. The new print, when struck, will be transferred through a high definition telecine process.
LONE WOLF AND CUB follows the adventures of the Samurai father of an infant who must take care of his child while on a quest for vengeance against his wife's killers. Japanese cinema fans almost universally praise the tale. The film also served as the original inspiration for Max Allan Collins' story THE ROAD TO PERDITION which is being released as a major motion picture next weekend.
No date has been set for the re-release, but it should be before the end of the year.
