It seems that Empire Online wasn't the only magazine planning a new coverlook of Heath Ledger's Joker. Our friends over at Wizard Magazine has also unveiled an exclusive image of the villain in their latest issue. The film stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Eric Roberts, Anthony Michael Hall, Nestor Carbonell, Melinda McGraw, Nathan Gamble, Michael Jai White, Beatrice Rosen and Joshua Harto. Director Christopher Nolan helms the sequel, based on a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan.

Reminder: A 5 minute prologue of the Joker will be appearing before the IMAX edition of WB's I AM LEGEND.

Plot Concept: Batman (Christian Bale) raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.

THE DARK KNIGHT hits theaters July 18, 2008.

Here's the latest look of the Joker, courtesy of Wizard Magazine.

why spending so much money and waisting so much time when you just have to cast the actual singer of the pop music band,,,THE CURE !!!! Robert smith, after a heavy night !

nothin' wrong with that. Now if they can really get his wide maniacal grin down...and there will be greatness. I was a bit skeptical of HL playing Joker and I hope he adds to the role and doesn't just do a good "Jack" impersonation...

Say what you will, I love it... as I siad before, Batman Begins was not a fun filled from the pages comic adaption, it was very much rooted in "What if this all really happened.' Just as Bales Wayne and Batman are a gritty flawed real world take on the bat, this is exactly how a real life psychotic who dresses like a clown should look. I am jacked to see this one. Here is too the Joker we all only dreamed of.

What about a pic of Two-Face? Enough Joker already.

PFFFT! How pathetic! Hmm I didn't know that the joker was bald! Worse yet he's painting his face! WTF! Nolan, Joker doesn't paint his face, you dumb F***! Somebody please burn all copies of this film before it comes out! Nolan, you movie wrecking a$$, you disgust me! BTW how old is HL anyway? I mean he has more wrinkles than Abe "Grampa" Simpson, Homer Simpson's Dad.

"What if it all really happened"?

Why can't Heath Ledger's character fall into CHEMICALS and THEN have his skin & hair CHANGED? How UNREALISTIC is that???

I'd sooner believe THAT than a guy who grabs a $5.00 Halloween makeup kit and smears his face with it. Like I said before, how would fans feel if Two-Face smeared half of his face with makeup and said "Look, NOW I'm Two-Face? Or a short guy puts on a false nose, gets a toy monocle, his Mom's Umbrella and his Uncle's fedora, and says "Ooh, look, now I'm the Penguin!"

The Joker has to be TURNED into The Joker, not just snap one day and throw makeup on his face and go on a maniacal killing spree. He's got to be batshit (no pun intended) crazy, laughing and playing deadly pranks, not knowing if he is going to prank you or kill you. He's HAS to be The Clown Prince, not Jeffrey Dahmer.

I would prefer a Joker that paints his face, who is a controlled crazy...rather than just some loud mouth who is completely out of control--joking and laughing all the time...like some two-bit jackass. I want somebody who is smart, and thinking. Someone who is deliberate and quietly menacing. And finally, I want someone who is truly funny when he does give us a comedic line. Sadly, Joker hasn't been funny on screen, ever...whether in animated form, in the old Batman TV series, or in Tim Burton's movie...for a man who is supposed to be a clown who is full of jokes, he is just plain unfunny. In fact, he has been nothing but annoying.

Somebody please hire a professional comedian like Paul Mooney to write some funny lines for The Joker to espouse.

Relax, you haven't seen the movie yet. For all you know he is batshit crazy, laughing and playing deadly pranks, not knowing if he's going to prank you or kill you. Just with a more psychotic look than what you've seen in previous encarnations.
The look fits what Nolan is doing and this movie is going to be better than Batman Begins in my opinion.
I personally would've prefered white skin over white make up but Nolan did a good job with Begins so I trust he's doing the same with the Dark Knight.

yes it s true, remenber the first pictures of the green goblin for spiderman 3, we all speak bad about it, and in fact the result was not bad, a snowboard man !

Otter, Nolan is trying to base the whole myth in psychological realities. Therefore, The Joker would be a crazy guy who has a scarring face and would paint his face up.

With that in mind I am fully behind this version of Mr. J.

And also that is why there will never be a Penguin cause there is no real possible way to psychologically explain his origin.
