"A tsunami of visual effects shots coming in this week," Favreau tweeted to his fans yesterday afternoon. "It's amazing to watch sound and visuals all come together. I can see the finish line."
'Iron Man 2' is now less than two months away from jetting into theaters.
Comics Continuum has an assortment of photos from the "Checkmate" episode of 'Smallville' airing Friday, April 9. The segment sees the return of actress Pam Grier as Amanda Waller and presumably sets up the spy organization rooted in the DC Universe.
Grier is shown in the images along with Tom Welling, who plays Clark Kent.
Yesterday's casting news placing actress Rose McGowan in the 'Conan' movie, left C2F wondering what's happening with the 'Red Sonja' movie that she was supposed to star in? MTV Splash Page quizzed director Robert Rodriguez on the subject. He was supposed to direct the film and was likely the driving force in getting then-girlfriend McGowan cast in the lead.
The director expressed a small degree of dismay over the lack of progress on the project, which was heavily hyped at Comic-Con 2008.
"If I kept the project myself, we could've just made it, but it belonged to another company that had financing problems," said Rodriguez. "They're actually waiting until they make the 'Conan' movie before they do that — to see how that works for them."
Rodriguez also admitted that he's not following the development of the barbarian movie, and it's unclear how strong is current level of interest in 'Red Sonja' actually is.
As the casting calls on 'The First Avenger: Captain America' continue, Entertainment Weekly comes up with a few tidbits of new info.
According to their Hollywood Insider blog, actor Garrett Hedlund (soon-to-be of 'Tron' fame) has dropped out of consideration for the part of Steve Rogers in the movie.
However, the Insider says that Sebastian Stan who appears in 'Gossip Girl' and the upcoming 'Hot Tub Time Machine' is one of the many actors who have read for the part.
Filming on 'Captain America' is slated to begin this June.
Raja Gosnell's 'Smurfs' movie has scooped up two more stars, one for a live-action role and one for a voice role, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Hank Azaria, who appeared in a C2F fave 'Mystery Men' as well as being the man of a thousand voices on 'The Simpsons', is set to voice the villainous Gargamel in the movie.
Meanwhile Jayma Mays, currently among the cast of the TV series 'Glee', is set to be the live-action female lead in the film. She'll play the wife of Neil Patrick Harris' character.
Photographs of the 'Scott Pilgrim' poster from Showest circulated around the interwebs yesterday. Today the official website for the film has the high-res, non-distorted image of the poster available for download. The artwork has also been made available as a wallpaper image.
The Fantagraphics Blog points us to a new video clip from Luc Besson's 'Adele Blanc-Sec' movie. The clip is interesting as it shows comparisons between the film and the comics by Jacques Tardi.
The blog also reveals that they will have a new translation of ADELE BLANC-SEC VOLUME 1 available this summer, debuting at at Comic-Con in July.
OK. We knew they were going big with the 'Green Lantern' movie. We knew that we'd see Oa, and the Guardians and the Corps. We'd see Sinestro and Kilowog for sure.
Earlier this week, Geoff Johns revealed another member of the Green Lantern Corps who we'll be seeing on the big screen.
"Saw the finalized power ring from the Green Lantern film," Johns posted via Twitter. "Yeah. It rocks. Also saw freaking SALAAK. This is AMAZING."
For the uninitiated, Salaak is a four-armed, pickle-headed critter and key member of the Corps. Wikipedia describes him thusly:
"A famous pessimist and loner, Salaak is a creature of protocol and laws. A veteran Green Lantern he has served in many Corps campaigns over the years. During the Crisis on Infinite Earths he protects multiple sectors, but found the experience depressing. After this, he went to Earth looking for company amongst his fellow Green Lanterns. He served with the contingent of Green Lanterns assigned to Earth and became good friends with Ch'p of H'lven. For a time Salaak lived in the future, filling the identity of Pol Manning as Hal Jordan had before him. While in the future, Salaak was married to a human woman."
In the recent Blackest Night storyline, Salaak assumed control of the Green Lantern Corps to repel the siege by the Black Lanterns.
C2F loves the alien Lanterns but the two we really want to see in the movie are G'nort and Ch'p!
What do you think, Maniacs? Which Lanterns should be in the movie Corps? Post your comments below...
