Another new X-Men: First Class mutant revealed? Plus: Another new Conan photo revealed. Another Walking Dead director revealed. Solomon Kane success revealed. Feeling the pain of the barbecue hangover, it's your Comics2Film 10.7.6!

On his official blog, director Michael J. Bassett tells his fans that his adaptation of Robert E. Howard's Solomon Kane has topped the home entertainment charts in the UK. The movie is #1 on the DVD and Blu Ray sales charts over there.

Fans in the U.S. have yet to learn when they'll see a legitimate release of the movie.

From BREAKING BAD to WALKING DEAD? reports that Michelle MacLaren is directing an episode of AMC TV's The Walking Dead. MacLaren recently helmed a run on AMC's other breakout show Breaking Bad. She's also produced and directed episodes of The X-Files.

For Walking Dead, she'll be working from a script by show-runner Frank Darabont. This would be episode three of the show, which films this week.

The Walking Dead premieres in October on AMC. The show, based on the comics by Robert Kirkman has a six-episode order for its first season.

Another New CONAN Image

The folks at Nu Image/Millennium Films continue to wind up the Conan hype machine. They've released yet another shot of star Jason Momoa as the barbarian king. This one feels the most like a studio publicity shot, with an action-oriented composition and richly colored background that evokes 300 a bit.

Why the sudden push? Could it be that there's a big unveiling of the movie coming up? Maybe at a certain comics-oriented event in San Diego? It's been denied before, but expect Conan footage to come online this week, parallel to some presence at Comic-Con.

2099 Mutant Time Traveling to X-MEN: FIRST CLASS?

There's a new X-Men: First Class rumor on the loose, thanks the Straight 2 DVD blog.  The blog enjoyed a Q & A with surfer-girl/model/would-be actress Erica Hosseini who told them that she recently read for a part in director Matthew Vaughn's mutant reboot.

"I just went in for a reading for the new X-Men movie First Class,' Hossenini revealed. "I was extremely nervous and reading my lines the best I could but I have absolutely no acting experience. I really hope that I get a call back, but I'm not holding my breath."

She went on to name the character that she was reading for.

"I was auditioning for a role named Willow (hopefully I don't get in trouble for blabbing details on the off-chance that I get it). It's a role similar to Mystique from what I understand," Hosseini said. "Potentially lots of body paint, so that would be really fun."

While Willow isn't a mutant that C2F is well-acquainted with, a quick scan of Wikipedia reveals that there was, in fact, a shape-shifting character of that name in Marvel's X-Nation 2099 book. It seems curious that they'd pluck this rather obscure character from one of the less-successful X-Men books for the film, so our guess is that Willow is a pretty minor background character in the movie.

On the other hand, Fox has played cagey with the casting process in the past, ascribing fake names to characters so that if actors blow them in interviews they're not spoiling anything. Back when X2: X-Men United was being cast, actresses like Ming Na were reading for the role of "Anne". The role eventually went to Kelly Hu, and the character's name turned out not to be Anne at all but rather "Yuriko Oyama", or Lady Deathstrike to fans.

So, it's entirely possible that "Willow" is actually code for another character, such as a young Mystique for example.

X-Men: First Class is set to roll cameras this month.

Love the Conan shot but I agree that it looks like a promo more than anything. Still it reminds me of the great art work that would go into the Marvel Conan magazine covers from years ago

I remain optimistic about X First Class. I'll take rumors with a grain of salt because so many of them turn out to be wrong.

If Solomon Kane isn't getting a theatrical release they should just go ahead and release it on ppv or Syfy then dvd, hurry up already

Inferno 7/6/2010 7:38:16 AM

Impatient with the crap surrounding the release of Solomon Kane. Don't understand why studios have no problem promoting crap like Speed Racer ( Sorry, WB, you should've stuck with your DC property instead of useless anime) but take forever with classics like Solomon Kane!

At first I was taken aback with the original Conan pics but it seems to be shaping up into a decent flick. I don't care what anybody says about Nispel. His remake of Friday the 13th was better than the last three Jason movies.

And yes! The old Marvel covers were awesome!

Solomon Kane rocks. I totally agree with Inferno. We get so much crap in the theaters I cant imagine why a good film like this is getting the shaft. I know one theory is the "religious" aspect has put off US distributors because they don't want to rile the bible thumpers.

todd890 7/6/2010 8:10:04 AM

I've never seen any mention of Solomon Kane on TV in the past two years, not one peep of a trailer except on line. I assumed it was coming out this year until I read this article.

That Conan picture is questionable, I sure hope there's a story to it.

The X-Men film might be good and Walking Dead is shaping up quite nicely.

Calibur454 7/6/2010 9:02:41 AM

Walking deadis gonna rule in tv I can already picture myself buying the dvd for the first season I hope there are a ton of extras for the film.

Conan- I'll wait for a trailer but I'm not holding my breath.

X-men first class- I'll rent it but I dont have any high expectations

aegrant 7/6/2010 9:15:43 AM

I am truely looking forward to the walking dead series but I wonder how the flow will be with so many different directors.

Conan does not impress me, I will review the trailer once its released.

I am in no rush for the x-men movie.

I guess I wll have to go to my "contacts" and find a copy of solomon kane out there since there doesn't seem to be a US release planned for theatres.

nemesis1_57 7/6/2010 10:09:00 AM

I watch Solomon Kane this weekend and it was freaking awsome. the US is missing out on a great movie.

animefanjared 7/6/2010 10:11:06 AM

@ aegrant - Most TV shows have multiple directors and manage to retain a high level of quality, so I wouldn't worry.  The fact that Walking Dead is only scheduled to have six episodes in its first season means that the show runner can be very hands on with every aspect, and that should ensure a unity in tone and style.

nemesis1_57 7/6/2010 10:12:59 AM

The movie cant be released on Syfy to much would have to be cut. James Purefoy was freaking bad ass. The grim reaper they have in the movie was the best depiction of one I've ever seen

axia777 7/6/2010 11:40:11 AM

X-Men will suck because Fox is making it.  Time  traveling mutants?  Lame.

Conan is going to own because they are honoring the original books.

No Soloman Kane in America?  WHY?!  This is B*LLSHIT I tell you.  We genre fans are getting fukked righted where the sun does not shine!  >:(
