TRAINING DAY helmer to direct new version of STRANGERS ON A TRAIN

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER reports Antoine Fuqua (MAN OF WAR, TRAINING DAY) is currently in negotiations to direct Warner Bros. Pictures' STRANGERS, a "reconception" of Patricia Highsmith's novel STRANGERS ON A TRAIN.

STRANGERS is about a tennis pro who wants to murder his wife and a wealthy eccentric who wants to murder his father. The two strangers end up trading each other's murders. For those of you who think this plot sounds a little familiar, Alfred Hitchcock directed the book's first big screen manifestation in 1951.

David Seltzer (DRAGONFLY, MY GIANT) wrote the screenplay for the project, Arnold and Anne Kopelson (JOE SOMEBODY, DON'T SAY A WORD) will produce. Production is scheduled to begin in the spring.
