THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER reports Antoine Fuqua (
MAN OF WAR,
TRAINING DAY) is currently in negotiations to direct Warner Bros. Pictures'
STRANGERS, a "reconception" of Patricia Highsmith's novel
STRANGERS ON A TRAIN.
STRANGERS is about a tennis pro who wants to murder his wife and a wealthy eccentric who wants to murder his father. The two strangers end up trading each other's murders. For those of you who think this plot sounds a little familiar, Alfred Hitchcock directed the book's first big screen manifestation in 1951.
David Seltzer (
DRAGONFLY,
MY GIANT) wrote the screenplay for the project, Arnold and Anne Kopelson (
JOE SOMEBODY,
DON'T SAY A WORD) will produce. Production is scheduled to begin in the spring.
