I believe I've seen that artwork on the Right Stuf site somewhere, but I suppose I'm still a little surprised Kei and Yuri aren't in their standard (and rather more revealing) outfits... not that I demand those standard outfits, though. The different take is kind of interesting.

It looks simple and I think it works (if finalized). I have this pre-ordered when the license announcement was made. I'm looking forward to this.

Now I'm glad I didn't get those 'Video Comic' tapes when I saw them. YAY!

That 3-D effect is so extreme that I can't make out what's a distortion and what's an issue with the art... I *think* it's OK, but a square-on shot would be more coherent, I hope.

Not that it matters, I preordered it sight unseen last spring on the day they announced it. Nice to know when it's streeting, though. And I like the variant outfits.

Very nice! Leave it to RightStuf to deliver the goods. They've only had one packaging snag in my book.... (Emma sets don't match up for the curious)...

I don't know what to say, but that's a nice cover overall. It works well with those outfits rather than the fan servicey outfits we usually associate them with. Nozomi has done very well.

It's pretty nice, from what I've seen so far. We haven't seen a good 'wrap-around' box in a while.

Yeah, that actually really bothered me since they're of such significantly different thickness and the spine layouts are inconsistent as well.

I was also surprised to not see the two troubleshooters in their universally-recognized battle bikinis for the art on the first box. The current art's fine, and won't affect my pre-order. ^_^

Ah yes, and my lovely Yuri graces the front cover, as she should. Sorry Kei, I see you trying to claw your way over from the back. No such luck this time. :P

I kid, Kei fans, I kid. :)

Must resist the urge to buy three of them, so I can display the full wrap-around artwork on my shelves. Must resist.

I don't think I want to resist.

Not great, but not bad either. Interesting to day the least.

I was set on this in the first place and I'm quite happy to see some non-standard uniform usage on the cover.

It'll make a nice contrast to the ADV sets on my shelf.

Just a thought but perhaps they decided to go with this cover art to highlight that The Dirty Pair is not just a fan-service series?

I like the logo with the girl's silhouettes in the center (on the top of the box) rather than without.

I still plan on picking this up someday.

Will set 2 cover, edge-to-edge, form a dioramic picture? And ditto for the back?

The "trailer" is about 1/2 of the op animation, sung by 80s j-pop singer Meiko Nakahara. The ed is also sung by her. (Meiko Nakahara also sang KOR's 3rd ed "Actress in the Mirror")

Nice to see no "Original" in the title.

I'll call this Nozomi-good. Unsurprisingly, it looks awesome. Will pre-order soon enough since it finally has a date.

Doesn't look particularly amazing to me, but it's not bad or anything. It'd be great if they used some original Yoshikazu Yasuhiko artwork. Sometimes in these packages with "updated" artwork the characters don't come off looking at all like they do in the show.

Which reminds me, I need to go thoroughly flip through that Dirty Pair: Complete Artworks book I bought and AnimeExpo...

I was also going through some of those Toshihiro Kawamoto artbooks and, what with all those homages to the original Gundam character designs, I got to thinking. Does anyone else get the impression that Faye Valentine's skimpy outfit was directly based of Dirty Pair? Seems almost identical.

I guess I'll be in the minority and say it's just 'bleh'. Purple and grey is plain drab. I really like their more colorful uniforms showcasing. Oh well, I'll still pick this up.

Wow, I hadn't realized there was a release date announced yet. Very cool. Definitely picking this up, though my first impression of the cover is that it could be better and feature their more famous outfits a lot more...

Yeah, I noticed that too. It probably was based on DP's outfit. I dont think it was just a coincidence that Faye's outfit looks so similar.

In general it looks good, but I do not like it for this box.
If I did not already know that the show was Dirty Pair that definitely would not have been my first guess.
I hope that the characters are not going to look like that in the show.

Well, this is just a guess. But judging from some pictures of the laserdisc art I had laying around, the other side of the box will probably look something like this:
http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/6497/dpcdaild4fsm.jpg
http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/3351/dpcdaild3fsm.jpg

You can even see the end of Kei's foot wrapping around the spine.

I'm starting to get the impression that this will look better in person that in does in this preliminary image.

*gets out own LD set* If Nozomi can do that (some fans still won't be satisfied), but DP is a sci fi action buddy show & Nozomi's cover art is true to its content. More Lethal Weapon than Charlie's Angels.

I'm a old school anime fan but i never seen any of this series thinking about buying it but still on the fence about it. Should i buy it im open minded and can watch anything as long as it funny and has a decent story.

You're in luck, this fits both of those criteria.

What made Dirty Pair stand out to me was that it seemed like a real classic science fiction story. Mainly because it's written by a pretty accomplished Japanese science fiction writer.

If you're okay with a very episodic (but very good) plot, then you should definitely see Dirty Pair.

Try the OVAs licensed by ADV (may be OOP). They are closest to the TV episodes, some being very dark, some being action-comedy.

Nice box, I pre-ordered the sets as soon as I could. Really looking forward to getting the set. Also, looking forward to sharing it with the convention I staff.
