It seems to a bit simple. I think it doesn't look that bad. It may look better once the enlarged cover art is revealed. I will be getting this once the next studio sale rolls around.

Even ignoring the fanservice increase (which I prefer), I like the Funi cover better. Something about the way Birdy looks on the other cover is just a little bit off in some way I can't put my finger on.

I don't know, Birdy's got a nice bod, she should rock it. It's not like she's wearing any clothing that's more skimpy than normal or anything. And I can look at a face upside down perfectly fine. I think that the people who are looking at her boobs are the people who would be doing so no matter what the cover looked like. :blush:

But is it really not a show with a good amount of fanservice? I've heard a lot of people say that it has a good plot but I was under the impression that there was at least a small amount even if it wasn't the main focus of the show. :P

Looks really good and I do like the simplicity of the design (it's refreshing seeing ones like this after looking at super-busy covers like My Bride is a Mermaid :sweat: ).

I'm definitely interested in this series (and I was a big fan of the original OVA series years ago), but I'm kinda surprised that FUNi isn't releasing this title both as DVD and Blu-ray releases together like they're doing with Casshern Sins, FMA Brotherhood, or Eden of the East (to my knowledge, this series did air in HD in Japan). Either way, I'll hold off on picking it up until the BD release comes out.

In cases like these, if Funi had something like Sentai's upgrade program, but just DVD to blu-ray, I would jump on this Birdy release. But I'm too afraid right now that they might whip out a blu-ray release and I'll not want to buy it because I'm way too poor to be double dipping on a show like that. Oh Funimation, why must you torment me so.

Admittedly, it's easier to do decent art for a dark/gloomy/gritty series than for a poppy, optimistic trifle, even if the former's a pile of shit and the latter show is the Second Coming, but still - damn! That's ugly.

Well, the OAVs weren't particularly, at least not by early-Nineties standards. As I said, I haven't seen anything of the TV series, I've been good for a change on that front.

Well the art Madman is using I think I recall those pictures being promo images for the show in Japan. I guess Funi just wanted to use something else. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw both of these images used on the slimpack cases if they're using them.

As you can tell from the changing picture it seems that Madman have changed their artwork for V1 to match Funimation's. I wonder what caused this switch? It wasn't good taste that's for sure...
