Yuck, hopefully this is a mock. Maybe it is only because I have never watched the show besides the opening, but it just looks so darn bad.

Not the best cover funi has done, but i'll still be getting this and part 2. just wondering, any ideas on whether this will be a keepcase or thinpak?
the grey-ish border surrounding the artwork makes me think that it will be a keepcase.

I like the two characters themselves, but the logo's not doing much for me (don't know if they're going with a earth/moon motif, but it's not work, plus it's hard to tell that that's an "R" on Rocket).
Also, I'm sorry, but whoever's designing these particular DVD spines at FUNimation needs some serious design retraining. :relief:
The flat cover art portion doesn't look that bad. The spine isn't working for me. The color could be off for all we know. But even if it isn't, I don't think that would help either. Regardless how it looks I will be getting this.

You got a point about the "R." It's hard to tell if it's an alphabet or some other symbol.

I think with some adjustments, it could actually be a decent cover. Not having seen the show, I can't say much more.

Fuck no!
The colors are awful, somehow garish and washed-out at the same time, and the pop-art logo is at the same time unreadable, and offensively kitsch. The spine is a checker-board ochre abomination. The artwork is uninspired, uninformative and makes the show look like goddamn Pokemon.
It's as if somebody at FUNimation hates this license, and is looking to bury it as quickly as possible. I want this show, bad - but I almost don't want this atrocity of a cover sitting on my shelf.

I've never found most of Funimation's cover arts to be very good, but this ones not the worst.
Also why is Mad House's logo on the cover art? Didn't they just do the animation for this series?

This is what we get for waiting 2 years?
Thanks Funi..:anger200:

I saw its sneak peek from Funimation at AX. The show looked pretty good and funny. I'll pick this show up.

Hmm, I'm not too wild about this cover. I'm not too sure about whether I'll be getting this or not (I've watched the first four episodes, and I haven't quite been able to make up my mind about the show).

Is there a reason this show is rated MA?

I don't really see what's so bad about this cover... I like it even though I haven't seen the show yet.

I was wondering the same thing. I've watched a few of the episodes on Funi's site, and I haven't seen anything unusually objectionable. So why the higher age rating?

That logo is so tacky. The two characters there are nice, but the logo just makes a mess of things.
For the curious, the main flat cover art for Part 1 was from R2J, Vol.1. Below includes R2J Vol.1 to Vol.9 (left to right). I think if these are the 9 choices, I think Vol.1 was probably an appropriate choice.

I gotta say, volume 8 there is a really beautiful image.
I like the cover art for part one just fine, but I think this one would have been a better choice for part two.
I will definitely be pre-ordering this regardless, as I've been wanting it for a while.

Who knows. It could be one of the interior artwork.

Hopefully. This would be one of those covers I'd shelve facing outward to show off.

Yeah, it is probably for the best they went with volume 1. It seems like "busy" is the theme for the release in general.

*edit* Might not be too bad if the colors on the set in real life aren't so neon.
Enlarged 3D cover art added to the first post...

No, it's a Madhouse production (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7631) from start to finish.
Is there a reason this show is rated MA?
I'm guessing it's the language, if the subtitles on the streams (http://www4.funimation.com/video/?page=show&b=144) are anything to go by. The official subtitles from Funi are much "saltier" than the ones on the fansub.
There's certainly nothing visual that would warrant an MA rating.

Got this in today. Clear keepcase w/ a reversible cover using the r2 vol2 cover on one side and an episode list on the other side. Also, colors aren't nearly as garish as in the opening post.

Not kidding here. I'm digging that synopsis and those character designs. The whole presentation is looking decent enough.

Yes, it is. Watch a few episodes at Funi's streaming site (http://www4.funimation.com/video/?page=show&b=144), and you'll see.

Will do, rather.
That said, the front cover's not too shabby, either (as long the use of lighting actually is proper, in reality).
