Same comment as the DVD set in terms of the artwork. The BD banner doesn't seem to mesh too well with the sky. I will be getting this BD release.

Loving the cover here. ^^ I'll definitely order this during Right Stuf's next FUNimation sale, whenever that is. :sd:
Hmm, I just noticed a pattern here with FUNi's release of FMA: Brotherhood thus far. Parts 1-3 so far have used the artwork with a single character as the cover (Part 1 has Edward, Part 2 has Roy, and Part 3 has Olivier). If we go by that logic, would it be safe to assume that Part 4 will use Volume 11 of the Japanese release, the one with Van Hohenheim and the Dwarf in the Flask? It would also be somewhat fitting at that point in the series, if Part 4 does end up covering 40-53.

That's an interesting logic. Out the next few Japan covers, that's probably the appropriate choice.

I remember funi having a poll not that long ago, asking about fan interest in final volume + box options to complete series (an old practice, but one I wouldn't mind seeing used here). If that does come to pass, it'd be a great place to use the art that's been skipped over.

Love the artwork for this series, really wish Funi used Vol. 7 On Part 2 or does on this one (I doubt they will since they used it on the DVD release.) It's one of my favorites, and such an amazing scene.
Nice cover indeed.
Is her official name Olivia or Olivier??
Per official JP site (http://www.hagaren.jp/characters/index01.html), it's Olivier Mira Armstrong.

The katakana indicate that the "-ier" is pronounced like in the French word "chevalier."
I haven't seen these episodes or read this far in the manga, so every time I saw this character I thought it was "Super-Hawkeye" or something...

I think this one looks alot better than that ridiculous image of Mustang that they put on the cover of part 2.
Enlarged 3D cover art added to the first post...
Olivier's pose still looks great when enlarged.

My family has vowed not to watch the Adult Swim airing so we can get the all of the discs and watch it together. My mother insists that my wife and I watch it with her like we did with the first FMA series.

It's probably episode commentaries for dub fan. It would be nice to have some for sub fans too!

You mean some from Japan? Or some by the English cast and crew that are language-agnostic?
I know you know the reasons why the former type are so rare in R1 (including, obviously, the possibility that there never were any). And I can't off the top of my head name any specific R1-produced commentary tracks that weren't centered around the dub or some other aspect of the English production process, though certainly some have touched on the show or movie itself. There's always the argument is that the English cast and crew don't necessarily have sufficient background knowledge to comment appropriately, but anyone who's ever listened to the average commentary track on an R2J release knows full well that you're likely to encounter a lot of in-jokes, random stories, girlish giggling (not just from girls), meandering non-explanations, and occasionally an interesting insight about some facet of the show. So, other than the odd exception, it's at least a level playing field.

I still haven't forgiven the Japanese FMP! cast for wasting an entire commentary track on discussions of cooking recipes and trips to the mountains. :anger200:

The UK licensor has just cancelled the UK BD due to low sales after set 2. Previous Funi releases have been multiregion, but all of us in the UK would surely appreciate it if whoever gets this first does a quick check to see whether the releases continue to be multiregion?

According to Australian distributor Madman subsequent volumes from Funimation will be locked to region A. However Madman themselves will be releasing the sets locked to region B so importing from Australia is an option.

What, seriously?
...Please excuse me while I go do something or another to express my frustration at this development. The only reason I was able to get the BluRays in the first place was because of RightStuf's incredibly helpful "marking the value of each item as 5$ on the package regardless of what the actual price is"-practice which helped me get around the custom taxes despite the sets actually exceeding the limit for that, and I rather doubt I'd be able to do so if I import from Australia... And having to pay full retail which would probably be higher than the US version + international shipping + 35$ in custom taxes doesn't exactly seem tempting. *Sigh* guess I'll just have to stick to the DVDs for the rest of the series, then...

Picing up a U.S. or multi-region bluray player may also be worth looking into.

There used to be some Aussie retailers that would ship into the UK postal system, thus avoiding some of the charges. But that was in times of better exchange rates. I'll be investigating nearer the time, and once I get confirmation that the US disc is definitely region-locked.
