How could they ruin something so nice...
The main artwork is really nice as it was from the previous re-release. However the S.A.V.E. spine really wrecks that. I will pass on this as I own the ADV singles with artbox.

That cover looks awful. Hopefully it will have an actual reversible cover with a spine.

It's just awful. I own FUNi's first release, so pass.

Too much white space. And the burning building + blood splatter was a cool concept, but it just looks terrible here. Plus that darn S.A.V.E. banner...
(I know it's reversable, but still.)

This. If not, I'll pick up a previous version.

not nearly as bad as everyone here is making it out to be.
I'm kinda curious about this. Have never seen it nor has anyone I know. Might check it out if the price is right.

It's a solid series with some well written dialog. The fight scenes are extremely fluid, like a lot of newer Production IG series, but I thought it really dragged about 2/3 of the way through and didn't pick back up as well as I would have hoped.

thanks for the info! Still might check it out if I find it cheap enough. These SAVE collections are generally $20-30 after online discounts, right?

Which has much better video quality, if I am remembering correctly. The Funimation release that I had of this series looked like a YouTube video, IMO.

I don't see that. (http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/qaRriQOVFkucuSE-Ce/browse/search/5/4/0/0/results/desc/asc/50/1) Maybe it sold out? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

That would be Utawarerumono (encoding screw up). I have Funimation's version of Le Chevalier d'Eon and the video quality is really good. Mainly because Neo-ADV was contracted to do the authoring. The first set even included all of the disc extras (on 5 discs).

Refer to this thread (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showthread.php?t=98359) for more details on S.A.V.E. releases. MSRPs are set @ $29.98, $19.98, $14.98, and $9.98. So far the lowest MSRP is $14.98 (Sasami S1, S2 reprices).

I know about those as I mentioned the 4 price points thus far. I was answering in regards to S.A.V.E. collections more as multi-disc releases.
Enlarged 3D cover art added to the first post...

Heh... Seeing Funi's generic S.A.V.E. spine brings back memories of the long gone generic products on grocery store shelves that had plain black/yellow or black/white labeling. ^_^;;

Just took a gander and my Le Chevalier d'Eon set and it doesn't have a reversible cover with a title spine.
