It's an OK cover, though the logo makes it look more like the title is "GS: Ghost Sweeper Mikami" than anything else.
Still, I'll be getting this when it comes out. Got to support the old-school and got to support Sentai licensing Toei animes.

ah yes, good all nostalgia. Will get for sure as I love old anime
It's an okay, workable cover. It just doesn't stand out much. The GS logo is a bit too tacky for my taste. Regardless I will be getting this.

Great cover, love the "old school" feel to it. So, episodes 1-12, huh? Looks like it's going to be 4 sets to cover the whole series...

When I learned that this series got licensed, I was flabbergasted. Prior to that event, I hadn't really thought about the possibility of it being brought over here anymore.
I'm glad to see that where there is life, there's hope. :catgirl:
That being said, it's a fairly serviceable cover. Has that classic charm to it. I might get this, eventually.

I was thinking that they were going to go with something really ugly with this cover, but in reality this cover, (front and back) looks really good. I like the purple used and it really seems to suit this series. This show isnt a high priority for me, but I will pick it at some point in the future.

Are the character designs by the same person as in Yu Yu Hakusho? The two characters in the back remind me of Hiei and Botan.

More Toei anime being licensed is always a good thing and i'll be buying this myself. :)

Yep, and i expect the other sets to have 11 episodes in each.

I hope that Section 23 don't take much time to release the following sets....like Glass Mask :depressed:

1993-1994 is old school now? So is Bebop (1998) there yet or does it have to wait until 2014 to be "old school?"
Cover is fine, though it looks more than a little like the Hakusho singles.

Sadly, Bebop is all ready considered old school depending on who you talk to

I lent someone Berserk 3 years ago and he called that old school. :/

To me, the early nineties is just qualifying as "old-school", and Mikami is just within that threshold. Something like Bebop or Berserk, on the other hand, are just "older" anime to me, and are definitely "nostalgic" at this point. That's just how I define them, though.
But, anyway, there's no doubt that Mikami can be called "older". Also, when did "Old-school" become a bad word? People seem to be really sensitive when it comes to this word lately.

I didn't say it was bad. It just seems to be boarding on being over used.

Well, that's partially because everyone has a different definition of how old something has to be to be considered old-school.
I think it's also partially because "older" fans are now starting to feel uncomfortable that shows like Berserk, Cowboy Bebop, and even Escaflowne (for example) are now being considered old-school by the "younger" fans who only recently have been getting into anime. There's definitely a generational gap at this point.
And by "older" and "younger" I don't exactly mean the age of the fans, but rather how recently or long ago they got into anime.

A lot of people consider anything that's cel animated to be old school these days. I would consider old school to be at least pre-90s, but it's not really that important.
I guess stuff like Banner of the Stars II (2001) is old school then. :P

I don't believe so; I think it's more a function of the shows being contemporaries of one another (look also at things like Ushio and Tora), as well as adhering to Toei's design aesthetic at the time.

Wow, she looks like she's out for blood. That being said, the sword's kind of interesting with all the writing, symbols, or whatever on it.
I guess if they try to give the image of a person prepared for battle, it gets the job done fine.

That's an OK cover. It's simple, and it reminds me of the VHS era, but for something its age, I guess the cover art is alright.

If you watch the opening on Youtube you'll see that that kinda of IS the title.
I'll probably get the first set, since I know nothing about the show but the animation looks fun and appealing. Hopefully they have a good quality master.
Oh, and text should never go inside a circle like this back cover. It's a pain to read.

I know what you mean, but no. Yoshihiro Togashi doesn't appear to have anything to do with this show.

I have the Manga Entertainment release of the GSM movie and it has the same logo on it, so yeah, I think this is probably the "official" English logo that Toei uses for the show.

It says "Character Designs: Mitsuru Aoyama" in the credits on the bottom-left of the back cover. But I guess no-one noticed that...

I highly doubt this will ever get a dubbed re-release, unless some sort of miracle happens and this becomes an A-List best-seller for Sentai.

GS logo not that different from the Japanese, & the cover is a lot more eyecatching. More in line with the LD cover art.
Snazzy spine logo is good too, & will show well on a retailer's shelf. Too late for halloween this year, but GSM is cool anytime.
PG only with all the boob squeezing?

Hiromi Tsuru is Reiko Mikami. Her next big character after Madoka in KOR, & GSM is her 3rd show voicing the main character (Perrine & KOR preceded).

I'd call anything anything animated by photographing actual cels on a light table "old-school" at this point. Bebop was one of the first TV series done properly with the new computer composition software; the stuff before that were OAVs like Macross Plus.
Eh, I was never that fond of Ghost Sweeper Mikami. Maybe, someday, if I'm really bored...

Don't worry about that much, people have their own preferences and benchmarking for their earlier anime shows and so. I know some people who are calling EVA (TV series) a classic. When it can be anything to me but that, else that would make shows say like: Space Battleship Yamato a pre-historic dinosaur or so :P
