Panasonic Unveils New Handheld Platform "The Jungle" (http://www.1up.com/news/panasonic-unveils-handheld-platform-jungle)
Interesting... I wonder who this will fare about the upcoming Sony's PSP2 and Nintendo's 3DS.

Well this is going for the MMORPG market so it's not really directly competing. Either way, it will tank.

How'll they do MMORPGs on a handheld? The battery would have to be enormous to maintain a constant 3G connection, at least on par with the two-battery array in the iPad. Unless, of course, they're going to promote a half-hour battery as an anti-poopsocking feature.

Hey guys, we all know how successful the Ngage was for MMOs! This is bound to be as...great.

LMAO... the Ngage, what a horrible handheld. Just gonna have to see what the reviews say about this device when it comes out...

Since everyone seems to be into sequels they can call it the 3DO Mark II.

Devs have been commenting more and more lately that they have been receiving dev kits and it is reportedly due by "holiday 2011".

I was hoping for something that might actually have a snowball's chance in hell of even being able to have hopes of surviving more than a year or two, let alone compete with Nintendo and Sony.

Even if this is directed at the MMORPG crowd, I can't see those folks giving up their gaming rigs with all the things that make MMORPGs easily playable competitively.

That is one ugly machine. Best of luck to them.

They should have a download service to release 3DO games on it a la Virtual Console/PSN.

Many of the 3DO games were mostly ports of existing titles, which some aren't worth releasing as DLC.

Best of luck to them, because they will need lots of it. After all, for a long time, several handhelds couldn't stand up to Nintendo's handhelds since the Game Gear until the PSP came out.

Analysts Call Jungle a "Non-Starter," "Uphill Challenge" (http://www.1up.com/news/analysts-call-jungle-non-starter-uphill-challenge)
A very steep uphill challenge indeed!

They say it is for mmos... so why would it compete with psp or dsi? also for mmos it would need to run windows right? unless it is for some low-end Korean/JP mmo?

not like you can raid on it or do end game content... so you can farm gold and grind for xp when your on your commute? if I need to have a portable system for mmos where I can raid and do end game content with all the bells and whistles (graphic options set to high) I'd use a laptop or notebook (running with low graphics). sure you may not be able to farm while on a commute with a laptop/notebook but i just dont see the appeal for the jungle.
