Not caring about this cover. Sad as this is my favorite series.

Not too bad, but I have the Adv perfect score chipboard thinpack. And I imagine the packaging quality will be nowhere near that good with this release. I'll pass. Funimation should get this onto blu ray, I think I'd buy then.
It seems rather bland. It seems that the Classic Line may be a silent label. I have the ADV thinpaks already, so I will pass on this.

Glad there's no ugly "Classic Line" label anywhere, though the cover could use a lot of improvement. I'll be picking this up eventually.

The cover is simple, yet effective. I like it. I perviously never had much interest in this show, but upon further investigation I've seen it compaired to Red Garden. So, instant buy!

It's alright. It's not the type of cover that will make me want to read about the series.

I agree its alright the show was alright too. If anyone is interested it isn't a waste I feel. But wow I love your quote in your sig! ("Come on, scribbles on the bathroom wall, please show me the path that I must follow!" - Excel) LOL love it.

The typical 26 episodes on 4 discs huh? So I guess it will not have the bonus stuff the ADV releases had.

FYI, FUNi is still finalizing on the packaging aspect. So anything (like cover art) can get changed later down the line.

I'd only upgrade for blu-ray. I have the ADV version.
Hope someone brings over the live-action movies.

If what I read is correct, the "final" release of any series will either be S.A.V.E. or Classic. Besides, this is supposed to be a steelbook packaging.

The SteelBook reference was mentioned early Thursday and it was removed hours later. The packaging for the Classic Line releases has not been finalized. That's unless you know something that isn't revealed to the open public yet.

Well the supplied pic is not what a steelbook, iron pack etc looks like.
So, it's a wait to see what the final pic is. Either way I'm waiting for the blu-ray version.

well if they do a steel book/case then I would think it'll be the black orb aka gantz itself will be featured... but yeah that red cover is crap. oh well regardless it's not like i am gonna double dip on this anyway...

Has there been any R1 releases before with this amount of content?

Um, how about the ADV version of Gantz? All those extras are carry-overs, the ADV singles and sets/thinpaks had those same interviews and featurettes.

I think the Ultra Edition Captain Tylor sets TRSI/Nozomi released hold the record. The TV series alone has two DVDs dedicated to extras in that set.

Just googled it and the Rightstuf listing is gone, but I found the specs on Amazon if anyone is interested.
"The special Limited Edition will include: all four Irresponsible Captain Tylor TV Series DVDs; the Irresponsible Captain Tylor TV CD Soundtrack "Sentehisshou", complete with printed romaji lyrics; 2 DVDs (almost five hours' worth!) of Japanese interviews and extras related to the Tylor TV series; a 32 page novella follow-up to the series written by the original creator of Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Hitoshi Yoshioka; and a 64 page booklet filled with artwork, interviews, and tidbits of trivia from the Tylor universe! And to top it all off, the whole set will be released in a sturdy, high-quality, fully telescopic artbox!"
Yeah I think that's a bit more than Gantz.

Which is why I still have my singles + artboxes.
If FUNi makes a BD happen, I may bite again... even with that shockingly bland cover. Otherwise I think I'm all set.
