So the rumored Key announcement was that Rewrite is coming out on 04/28/2011 (http://yunakiti.blog79.fc2.com/blog-entry-7043.html). I'm definitely stoked! Also, kind of amazed that Ryukishi07 finished his part.

Yeah well, he probably had a contract he had to fulfill.
Deadlines are easier to meet when someone other than masses of anonymous will bitch at you over missing them.

Nice! I'll be buying for sure. Although, I'll obviously have to wait for a patch to read it though. I've been waiting for this for a while. I love Key and Ryukishi07, so this should be win.

The thing is, last spring when Kud Wafter was announced, they mentioned it was his and another contracted author's scenario (Tanaka Romeo) that was holding it up. Well, I suppose it's better than having to deal with Maeda's inability to stop writing.

Definitely. Although I'm not quite sure how Ryukishi07 will interact with Key's atmosphere. I think his Higurashi game would fit in very well, but I'd be skeptical if it was more like Umineko (based on the anime).
I'm also excited to play a game that Maeda did not write for. I love Maeda, but I have to agree that Clannad was his magnum oppus (even if I liked LB more). On the other hand, I'm sad that the art direction wasn't jointly done by Hinoue & Na-Ga. I like Hinoue, but much prefer Na-Ga's style. But being made in native widescreen kind of makes up for it.
I admit part of me want Rewrite to be a bigger hit than LB so Key will decide to release an anime to fan the merch flames a bit...

Aces. I wonder if this will actually end up beating Mahoutsukai no Yoru to release.

But this man is like a writing robo to begin with ^_~ Also IIRC he mentioned shortly past the announcement (and when the April Fool's aura of Rewrite settled) that his involvement won't be that of a (main/actual) scenario writer hence I do wonder how much or to which extend Ryukishi07 is part of the scenario.
That said, I *knew* it that this is going to get an April release given the update history of Key for Rewrite thus far (though I personally assumed they would announce the release date in April next year and make it an April 2012 release then).
Also I doubt that many other Brands will now slate their upcoming releases around the Rewrite date (then though it's "coincidentaly" slated around Golden Week so...).
Great, now if MAKURA would come up with a date for IkiKoi next...

So yeah. Key's April Fools' joke this year was making the anime opening for Rewrite (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yegE5ai9abQ). It's really the complete opposite of everything it means to be Key, but I still think it would have made a pretty cool anime. I found it funny at least.
[Edit] Video is actually the second opening to the game.

*Watches* I don't care if it's just an April Fool's joke, I demand they make that a reality. Well, assuming of course it wouldn't turn out to be a case where the opening is the only good part.

So what is it? Is it in OVA (coming with the game? or not?), or is it actually going to be a TV anime? Interesting that White Fox is animating, as that means yet another animation studio on a Key project.

From what I understand, it's neither. It's just a second opening for the game.

Right, though it's funny that what everyone thought was an April Fool's joke turned out to be an actual part of the game.

Ah, ok. That makes sense, particularly since that "OP" had credits that were clearly for the game and not for any anime.

I figured there was a good chance it was real. Given their announcements for the last two years concerning ReWrite has been real (including the game concept itself). But you never know so my assumption is that it was fake.

Oh, cool, White Fox did it. Anyway, uh, fighting dinosaurs in a Key game? :sd:

Assuming it doesn't bomb--and the odds are very low that it would--I'd think it's virtually guaranteed it would eventually get one. After Little Busters!, of course.
Whether the actual game will be more like the first (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQUwQNkeODk) or second opening... I'd think the first but you never know. :) Course, half the fun of Key openings is they often tell the story of the game (even if you have to finish it to figure out the meaning).

I'm going with parody of something, at this point.

From what I could understand, it seems like there will be some routes that are more like the first, and some that match this new one... And I, for one, am just gonna assume that this animated opening is referring to the route Ryukishi07 wrote. Because really, while the concept of fighting dinosaurs and dragons seems rather out there for Key, it's nothing compared to all the bizarre stuff that guy has done before.
