A rather striking looking cover. It's not bad. I will be passing on the Shippuden boxsets for now.

Wow, completely different from the previous 4. Can't say I like it, too cartoony.

VIZ is doing the same thing that they did with Bleach. Instead of calling it a Boxset 5 their calling it dvd set 5 and now its 12 episodes instead of 13. Whether the packaging changes has yet to be seen but knowing VIZ they'll do just that.

The boxsets for Shippuden have been this way. The Naruto re-release sets have been called as seasons due to more disc/episode count to the release.

With the things are going, I would say it would just be a matter of time.

I'm aware the Shippuden sets are not actual seasons. I was referring to the fact that Shippuden sets 1-4 were labeled as "Boxset 1, 2, etc." This set is labeled DVD Set 5. The omission of the word Boxset leads me to believe this will not be in a box like Bleach set 6.

This looks great! I will be getting this for sure!

Looks like garbage compared to the first 4.

And based on the shape of the spine, episode count, change of font, and omission of "box set", I'd say it's as good as confirmed to be of the same lack of quality as Viz's other crap.

This looks OK. A fired-up Naruto is alright.

Finally :), I've been worried lately that Viz had dropped the show after Volume 12 :(.

That is some ugly boxart right there. Blech! It looks like though it might not be in the nicer packaging.

Oh come now! You think Viz is stupid enough to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs?

This is Viz we're talking about, they dropped the Box Sets for Monster, they haven't released any DVDs for Kekkaishi yet, and they canceled several dubs (MAR, Prince of Tennis, etc).

The blue background is a drastic change. Why not just stick with the white?

There's a third series, InuYasha/TFA.

Because they used up all the white on the Bleach packaging.

As expected, they started using keepcases for the Naruto Shippuden sets.

Viz is really on a roll now. This didn't surprise me one bit since they did that with Bleach. The question is if they will go to a even more inferior packaging.

I suppose it shouldn't be that much of a surprise since Viz's packaging has been going to pot for a while now, but it still sucks regardless (plus now the boxsets aren't going to be consistent between Volumes, which is always a pain in the ass).

And I like it when companies use the original Japanese art. The box art for Shippuden was, IMO, pretty good and with the keep case you miss out on it (whereas you could possibly have 4 covers present in a thinpak, it becomes 1 in a keepcase and even that piece is edited).

So yeah, I'm disappointed in the use of keepcases.

Viz Media canceled the volumes after Volume 12 you know.

Or were you talking about something else?

I can't remember what the original press release said when they announced the deal with WB ,but I assume this and the Vampire Knight double-sided disc is more Warner Bros doing then Viz's. It make sense in Warner Bros tends to love doing stuff as cheap as possible and they love double-sided disc.

When I said Volumes, I was referring to Boxset Volumes (not singles).

Now that's going to look sh*tty on the shelf next to the other boxes. I mean, my bleach sets are all random looking. I hate that. :puke:
