This is a rather interesting cover. I'm not sure what to say. I have the respective singles already with artboxes, so I will be passing on this.

Pretty clever cover.

If it actually came with a figure I'd think twice but I already have all of this.

I do love the packaging and how the contents are along the side like accessories.

Pretty clever cover.

I agree. Very fourth-wallish.

I've had a bit of an interest in this series for a while, maybe I'll finally pick it up with this set... someday.

I agree. Very fourth-wallish.

I really like the cover for precisely that reason. I doubt I'll get it though as I already have everything.

I'm not sure about this cover. It's not the kind of cover I really like. I already have the singles so I'll pass.

They've generally gone for clever, rather than good with this series, Japanese releases as well as North American. I've already got the OAVs and the first season sitting around, I've been waiting on a decent excuse to buy the second season on the cheap, so I'm guessing this isn't it.

(I don't think I've seen the second season - but it basically follows the manga, right? No rush.)

Very cool cover. Unfortunately, I already own all of Genshiken, so I'll have to pass.

Still waiting on (my double dip) of the first season, finally with the OVA included, to ship. Its just about over a month late. Don't hold your breathe for this to stick.

Are the OAVs available separately?

I already have both artboxes with singles, plus the Kujibiki Unbalance premium collection for the OVA's. Although I authored my own OVA only DVD from the KU set for watchability sake...

It looks rather odd to me, given some of Genshiken's other packaging. I'll definitely consider purchasing the show now, though it'll depend on the packaging. I'm in no rush for this show, as I already own the manga.

Are the OAVs available separately?

Nope. They're either stuck with Kujibiki Unbalance or with Season 1 of Genshiken in the DX set.

It's possible. It's at least 7 discs (or 9 if they they include Kujibiki Unbalance). Another guess would be a 30mm - 10/ONE Overlap™ (http://www.scanavo.com/overlap_30mm_10_one.asp), especially if it's a 9-disc release.

MB used it for the complete collection release for Tekkaman Blade. TRSI used for Super GALS! It's pretty secure, at least from I hear.

It really depends on the plastic they are using. These cases are probably similar to their thinpak cases, where the plastic is very flexible and easy to remove the discs.

I think you've nailed what it is that leaves me less than satisfied with this cover (besides all the white space). Clever concept it is, but it doesn't "say it all" about the show.

A very nice little video, he did a good job of it.

Glad I opted for TRSI's boxset special instead. Those stackpacks would drive me crazy. Surely there can't be that much difference in price between it and a litebox?

A LiteBox can only hold up to six discs, while this set contains 7 discs.

The cover reminds me of this: http://www.amazon.co.jp/BEST-1-%E2%80%9C%E7%BE%8E%E5%B0%91%E5%A5%B3%E3%82%B2%E3%8 3%BC%E3%83%A0%E3%82%BD%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B0%E3%81%AB% E6%84%9B%E3%82%92%EF%BC%81%EF%BC%81%E2%80%9D-UNDER17/dp/B0000DJWBN/ref=pd_sim_m_2

Kind of fitting since Under17 sang the OP/ED for the first Kujibiki Unbalance OVAs.

MB uses the term LiteBox very loosely. Traditionally a LiteBox is 14mm keepcase that holds up to 6 discs. MB has the LiteBox wording (particularly on its release back covers) on releases like Knight Hunters: Series 1 & 2 Collection (more of a mini brick packaging) and your example Tekkaman Blade (which uses 30mm - 9/ONE Overlap™ (http://www.scanavo.com/overlap_30mm_9_one.asp)).

Not sure this was a very smart move for the cover. As somebody who has never seen this show before, I had no idea what the hell it was the 1st time I saw it and had no interest in picking this up off of that alone.:/

Ah, that makes sense. Completely forgot about the ova disc.

Would I be right in assuming that the limit on a stakpak is 7 discs then?

I've been tending to call these smaller brick collections compact bricks but your term mini bricks sounds even better. ;)

So basically, any brick collection that takes up the space of a single dvd case (i.e.-14mm) is a litebox and those 15 to 30mm or so are compact/mini bricks then?

The Moribito collection (Wal-mart version) was in a 8 disc stackpak. I'm not sure if goes any higher than that, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

The norm back then was 6. However more and more of these STACKpaks have been modified to hold more now like how joelgundam01 had suggested with the Moribito release. There are even ones like this (http://www.cdrom2go.com/product/usdm-stacker-dvd-case-multi-disc-black_1764_72.htm) that is similar to a STACKpak of which I don't believe have been used in an anime release yet.

I don't really think there is really an official term. But these "brick" packaging are getting slimmer over the years.

Old alphapaks were huge, about as thick as three/four singles and capacity of max 7 discs.

I think they were about 2 inches thick. ADV, BEI, and MB used those from I remembered.

I don't have to remember it, all I have to do is look up at my bookcase. :sdsmiley: And of course, that's why we called them bricks, because they were almost exactly the same width as a brick.

I have about ten of them. Everything from Fancy Lala, Gokudo, Devil Lady, MKR 2 and Princess Nine. They took up less space than a boxset, but now they look sooooo thick and clunky next to their more compact offspring. I'd move them into a more compact brick format if it wouldn't screw up their artwork. So instead I just grumble and put them on the bottom. (I store my bricks/liteboxes vertically as they take up less room that way.)
