Ended up getting a lot of games as gifts. The only ones I actually bought for myself were Gundam Musou 3, Front Mission Evolved and all the DLC.

I actually picked something up this month - namely Eternal Sonata for the PS3. It was going for $20 at Wal-Mart in the discount games racks and I figured, "why not?"

One thing I learned this year is that Japanese developers have no clue about the iPhone. Specifically, they don't know how to make games on a platform with no buttons. Secret of Mana is incredibly hard to play with onscreen controls; Phoenix Wright has a horribly clunky interface. The first version of Crystal Defenders actually had a massive onscreen joystick and a button even though the game totally lends itself to touch controls. (At least they figured that out and redid the game.)

The challenge, as I tried to say in another thread (that time about the Wii), is that devs have to make the games specifically for the platform, not brute-force the platform to support the games. If it doesn't have a control stick, programming a control stick into the interface won't make the game work. Program to the platform, Square! Think about how the touch interface works, Capcom! It doesn't matter if the game's any good if it's torture to play.

Also, the iPhone 4 is awesome hardware for games.

Haven't played much GS as I feel I don't feel the motivation to play much portable games (and anime). All-Stars is good but could've been better. Should've also included Super Mario World and Super Mario 64. Plus for the soundtrack I could've thought of better SMG2 music to include (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCrAh5m989k). I ended up importing Tales because I have given up on Namdai...Bamco...whichever name comes first ever localizing anymore in the future. Why PS3 over the Wii? Because it's superior of course. Now I have to get a 5,000 yen card so I can get those school uniforms. As for Case West, it's fun and this is what should've happened for the game's overtime mode.
