I have watched 11 episodes of this and it looks like there is only one left but the show makes no sense so far. It looks like it is trying to say something and doesn't just want to be a funny high school show that has moved into action (and wow what a action packed finale) but I just don't get it. God as a computer, a time traveler trying to take over Gods and the Gods want to be ruled, the principle of identity...who half of the time doesn't know herself?
The demon king is made after mana is manipulated in someone....? God as selfish. EH??? I mean this isn't a ganix show is it...should I be preparing for an eva/lain ending here?

You know, we have a thread for the show, you can post these questions in the discussion threads.
Anyway, the answer is...its a crappy show.
I'm sure much of what you are wondering about is explained in the novels (probably...), but the show is so compressed and schizophrenic that it doesn't make any sense.
I honestly never even watched the last episode, because I just really didn't give a damn anymore.
Edit: And "Demon King Daimaou" is still an astoundingly silly title. I get why they want something more accessible, but can't they at least not make it completely silly?

No, you should prepare for a incoherent clusterfuck that doesn't really make any sense at all. Lain and Eva's endings are a bit weird and can be confusing, but there is intelligent thought behind them. Not here. Daimaou's ending is just a giant mess that the writers crapped out when they suddenly realized they were at the last episode and had to resolve the stupid conflict they wasted the previous several episodes on. The characters in the last episode start spewing out words that have never, ever been mentioned prior to that and they don't even try to explain them, so its completely impossible to make sense of what's going on. Also, the big strong villain goes down like a chump in about 3 seconds and somehow the world gets rewritten for a sort of reset ending. So what little of the episode does make sense is utter bullshit anyway.

This is just a guess on my part (could be wrong, as I don't know anything about the source material), but it could be they just rushed through material from the original light novels, and maybe reading them (which would be impossible without knowledge of Japanese) would be necessary to understand it better. Or, it could have just been confusing to begin with. I felt the story part near the end was really rushed and a bit of a mess. It was much better as a "funny high school show" in my mind.

It should have stuck to giving Yuuki Aoi opportunities to talk dirty.

So is that name ridiculous in the same way "Manos: The Hands of Fate" is?

I was going to answer that the explanation is simple: the show sucks, but you've already beaten me to that.
I have nothing more to add.

Its silly because "Daimaou" means "Demon King"
So its "Demon King - Demon King"
They should have just translated the title. "The Demon King in the Back of the Class" is a great title. Way better than the show deserves, in fact.

to bad the show is so terrible then...glad I saw it on anime on demand rather than paying for it and looked for a thread on it and didn't see it sorry for the repost. :puke: Oh well I will watch the last episode to see how bad it gets then review it.
The action was great. Anyone know if they are going to translate the novels ever (yea right). Some of the funny high school stuff was funny and the set up had potential it was at least a creative set up as opposed to most random moe stuff we get now a days...

I'm surprised this show apparently flew completely under my radar when it was new; the artwork and R2J cover art should have tricked me into paying attention for at least a little while.
The rendering of the title is strange and redundant, though it's not like it hasn't happened before (English title followed by Japanese translation, or vice versa). For example, and despite what just about every retail site and review on the Internet incorrectly says, "When They Cry: Higurashi no Naku Koroni" is in fact the proper rendering of that show's title for the R1 DVD release, as is presented in several places but most prominently on the DVD covers (why everyone suddenly decided to cut it off after "Higurashi" is beyond me, and I guess the whole particle contraction of "Koroni" versus "Koro ni" is kind of a toss-up in terms of preferences and conventions for such things).

I'd like to confirm this answer as being 100% correct. In other words, I agree with. There's nothing like a rushed series with that thrown together feeling where the story tries its best be incoherent and idiotic.

You see, what happened was, they set up the story and characters and then.

Took me a moment, but I see what you did there. Yes if they had another season I think it would have gone much better. As a one season show...it doesn't work.

This show is one of the best ecchi shows of 2010. Forget about the story - focus on the ecchi.

sorry ecchi does not make an anime for me (see my comments on dance in the vampire bund) so finally watched all of this...and like people said it stunk (I would say more but not sure I can without breaking rules). I mean at first I thought it was going to take a matrix turn (the demon king being something created by God to destroy humanity for God) and the whole invasion from another dimension was an interesting angle (that should have been explored I don't know...sometime BEFORE the last episode) but then we got the principle of Identity being her and not her, and a rewriting of the story that seemed to be the same story....was there supposed to be a second season here that never came or wtf is going on? Sigh reviewing this should be interesting....
