As usual, please try to follow these three easy forum courtesy habits when replying:
1) If you're the first person to post about an episode in any given week, please respond to the root post (this post) and indicate in the subject line which episode you're posting about.
2) If someone has already posted about an episode before you, please respond to that post (or a relevant reply to that post). Keep in the right subthread.
3) Don't use the blue "Post Reply" button because it causes your reply not to correctly inherit the subject line of the post you're replying to. Just click "Quote" to the post you want to reply to.

Oh yeah, forgot I still had this knocking around to watch.
Anyway, it gives a very (very!) abbreviated origin story, and then jumps ahead to some point further along when the entire group is assembled.
It then does Kaibutsu Ojou Standard Plotline No. 1: Creatures invade and wreck the mansion one night, Hime and her crew drive them off.
This time the creatures are these ludicrously low-level Vampires that can't even stand artificial light. They are also largely done with really bad CG for some bizarre reason.
Anyway, the main concern here was addressed, there is, in fact, blood. Lots and lots of blood in fact. The artstyle is a little odd (closer to the manga, I assume), which leads to some odd looking faces, but they work, once you get used to it.
Also, they recast it entirely.
Hime: Hayami Saori
Hiro: Irino Miyu
Riza: Kitamura Eri
Reiri: Toyosaki Aki (!)
Flandre: Iguchi Yuka
Sawawa: Kayano Ai
I first noticed it with Reiri, who doesn't sound at all like Toyosaki Aki, but was also very clearly not Noto Mamiko. On balance, this cast works fine, though I wonder why they felt like recasting it. I kinda think Kawasumi Ayako was better as Hime, but I'd have to go back and check.
Oh and it was only 20 minutes long. Though the plotline really couldn't have held up any longer. Hopefully the second OAD will be a bit more impressive overall.

I actually saw this at Kinokuniya a couple of weeks ago, picked it up and watched it a few days later.
Yes more blood. :) Do you know what was the reason why that they changed the way Hime granted life to Hiro to a flame? Did the original series originally air in a time-slot that forced them to limit the blood?
I did somewhat miss Kawasumi Ayako as Hime, but not that much. However Noto Mamiko's Reiri was one of the main things I enjoyed about the TV series, so I greatly missed her voice here.
Otherwise I agree, the faces were a little sharper, but I did get used to them quickly. I also agree that the plot was very similar to a few of the TV episodes - but with more blood. Although, I still kept wondering why the one that could somewhat stand the light, didn't just rush to smash the only light they had.
Thanks for the heads up that there will be a second DVD. I'll have to keep an eye out for it in March.
