Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Her interactions are decently cute so far, though. I was surprised she didn't come out of the case naked, but of course she ended up naked in at least one part of the first episode. :P

A good bit of the early part was rather confusing with the "Lost Precious" and "Society" stuff getting thrown around. I guess the will relate to the "plot" and we'll find out more, but I don't know if I should expect much of that.

Also how often does the Swahili language come up in anime? That must be pretty rare...

This was a good way towards becoming very tedious until Rose showed up, so it doesn't leave me overlly positive unless she fulfills her potential (at the very least, I agree with the above comments about how her cuteness atm will only work short-term). In the bottom three of the episode 1s I've watched so far from this season.

A decent if not particularly original first episode. Rie Kugimiya sure gets a lot of work saying -yuji names cutely. It looks like there is potential for some good action scenes and Rose is cute so I'll be sticking with it for now.

Opening is passable. Misaki is cute but she has no chance. Eriko is hot.

The CG and the character designs--especially the eyes--rub me the wrong way. Oh, and the randomly pointy noises. The seiyuu are good picks though.

What would happen if Index was crossed with Louise and they had a child with Chii... Ah hell. I don't know anymore.

I'll give it another episode, at least.

Wasn't sure what to think of this from just the promo materials, but after the first episode it's looking like it could be a lot of fun. Didn't quite expect the 'flame on' that happened almost immediately after Rose got out of the box. Kind of hard to not snicker a bit at a Kugimiya loli running around yelling, "Ryuji!" left and right. I expect to see no shortage of Rose/Taiga seiyuu-joke fan art shortly...

In the bottom three of the episode 1s I've watched so far from this season.

I guess being a Rie Kugimiya fan...this is my number one show to be watching outside of Fractale (which I hope is good). Super cute girl voiced by my favourite seiyuu right now trumps the story and setup of episode 1.

Eriko was pretty crazy. Rose was absolutely adorable. Her cuteness, right now, might be a little too sweet though. That should tone down a little when a) she can speak more and b) when she gets pissed off at the people either trying to capture her or injure Ryuji. Speaking of him...he, on the other hand, seems like a person who just wants to be normal...nothing crazy, just get by each day - boring! Oh and Ryuji's friend seems who can't seem to confess her feelings is cute.

Hmm...I'm totally getting some Shana vibes from the show right now....

I got the idea that Eriko and Ryuji's parents are treasure hunters of some sort. The "Society" might be like registered magical treasure hunters? The "Lost Precious" seems to be some crazy rare magical treasure? And, I'm intrigued by the magic used in the show...I wonder what else might show up.

True, pretty mediocre outside of Yukana's character so far, I do like the soundtrack and the animation was surprisingly good for a DEEN show but I doubt that lasts.

I'll give it another ep, it's on the chopping block.. I've got another show for my Yukana fix anyway.

And Ryuu means dragon. They keep showing Rose seeing some sort of flame when she looks at him, so maybe it's not his name that she is saying. As in ryuu-ji = dragon's <ji?>

Well, that was okay. Rose is cute and Kugimiya Rie is always a plus, but I'm not a bit fan of her lack of speech capabilities. I should like her more once she's able to speak coherently.

Misaki is all sorts of cute. I thought here seiyuu was new since I'd never seen the name before, but.... her first role was in 2001. And this is only her 7th anime role, nearly 10 years later. Very odd.

Anyway, decent first episode, will certainly watch more.

I think Nigo Mayako has mainly been the voice of Yayoi from Idolmaster. Seems to be common for seiyuu from Idolmaster to be more involved with games than anime, though with being in Omamori Himari and now this, maybe she's getting into more anime.

We learn a little more about Ryuji and Rose while being introduced to an enemy black dragon who claims to be Rose's fiance and plans to take her back.

I'm still vague on exactly what Ryuji's abilities are supposed to be but since he is apparently the Misaka Mikoto of the story, his attitude towards Rose was frustrating. I suspect next episode will be where he shows off that he's actually amazingly competent, but as of now, he's rather blah and boring. Rose remains cute and she's improved her ability to speak a plus, but the show needs to pick up the action a bit as the characters aren't strong enough to support the series so far.

Finally some anime for the first time in a week...

Episode 1:

- Kugimiya Rie calling out for Ryuuji? ...Okay I suppose there's no way I'm the first one to comment on that.
- ::watches the OP:: Huh, I really like the character art/designs in this. Looks really nice. Of course, I also feel like it's the kind of art that can totally go to shit if the budget slips at all. But if they keep it up I'll be happy.
- Ohyayou! Seiyuu for Misaki is new! -ish. To anime. She's Yayoi in Idolmaster and now I'm looking forward even more to hearing her there because that -you was so goddamn cute.

- Yukana spotted! Delicious Eriko. I can already tell Yukana intends to completely steal this show, as usual.
- She was studying abroad in the United States? Even visiting America gives you big boobs in anime!
- Suddenly, action. And Kugimiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I'm going to snicker every single time she says Ryuuji, aren't I?
- Misaki's "hau~" is adorable.
- I bet this awesome animation would look better if the CR stream didn't seem ridiculously over-brightened. Can that really be how it's supposed to be? Light colors, like skin or Rose's hair are waaaaaay too bright, almost painfully so. A shame too, because the video quality is otherwise stellar.

Cuteness abounds. Yukana + Kugimiya + really good animation = totally watching. But man the brightness levels seriously need to be dialed down quite a few notches.

- Ehhhh, I've come to dread "I'm a douchebag and [insert cute female lead] is my fiance!" plots. At least he's voiced by Kamiya Hiroshi doing his best "utter bastard" voice.
- OP is really growing on me. It's pretty unlike most OPs I've heard lately.

- Blah, the brightness levels are still through the roof. I may need to check out some different sources for this.

Hmm, I really liked the first episode but I'm more mixed on this one. I guess the plot development is just too... aggressively average? It's not bad but I'm not feeling as good about it as I did after the first episode. I think I would really have preferred another episode or three before the plot kicked in to this degree. This was just way too fast.

It seems Ryuuji has some mommy issues and has some achieved a highly impressive rank of Breaker.... which I guess is an explorer/people who search for Lost Precious, maybe? It would be more impressive to learn he's a level 10 if they gave some indication of what qualities are assessed to determine his level. It doesn't seem to involve combat abilities.

Yeah, it did seem like not a whole lot really happened, though learning about how Rose knew Ryuuji was useful info.

I'm kind of guessing that how good of a Breaker you are relates to how well you can use the powers of the Lost Precious. I would expect that's something we'll learn more about in today's episode though, since presumably Ryuuji will have to stop running away from it and use whatever the heck being a top-level Breaker gives him to try and get Rose back...

So, Ryuuji finally remembers exactly what happened when he first met Rose as a child and mans up to go rescue her, picking up a short sword made from dragon's teeth along the way that his parents put away in safe keeping for him. And it of course proves useful in fighting against Onyx, though not as useful as Ryuuji's telling Rose that he likes/loves her. It would seem that Rose and Ryuuji are engaged as well, at least according to Dragon customs- meaning combined they have access to a whole lot of power. Oh, and thankfully a dragon's breath (or kiss...) can heal humans, which is useful when Ryuuji takes a dragon's scale to the gut from Onyx's minion to presumably cover the Black Dragon faction's escape.

And Eriko gets her Lost Precious earing back (via automatic gunfire- gotta love her :) ).

I'm assuming that wraps up the first of the novels. Rose definitely got a lot better once she could speak Japanese, and is quite cute. Ryuuji isn't bad as far as male leads go, once he stopped moping around. A solid connection between the two of them is nice, even if it does look like the show will somewhat get into harem-territory from the looks of the rest of the cast...

They haven't explained the whole Breaker thing, but from this episode it looks like the ability to wield a lost precious which seems to be mystical artifacts of tremendous power.

At least they did some explaining of the back story, so that's out of the way. Now...besides Onyx I wonder who else is looking for Rose and will Ryuji beat them every or every other episode?

Well, the first episode provided us with our Dragon. However we're still lacking in terms of having a Crisis.

Never mind, an uber jerk named Onyx was kind enough to provide us with one.

Ryuji, for making Rose upset you must preform 12 labors to repent for your actions.

I can't help but wonder if Misaki's expression as she thought back to Ryuji carrying Rose is foreshadowing of bad things to come.

It took my a while to figure out what was happening when Onyx and Rose were talking - I thought at first that the sound had become unsynched with the video since they weren't moving, but I think it was dragon language, the voice-over being for our benefit and not "really" happening.

I was slightly confused at first, but quickly figured it out after a few lines. You could kind of hear some odd sounds "behind" their voices, which indicated to me that they were actually speaking in their own special language while we got the translation. The part that bugged me was how their mouths just hung open in one spot the entire time they spoke. It seemed obvious they were supposed to actually be talking, hence why their mouths opened at all, but for them to then just not move was awkward.

So, after being mopey and indecisive at the start, Ryuuji manages to handle everything with his new blade and telling Rose he loves her. However it came about, the villain is at least temporarily defeated, so we can enjoy girls on the beach next episode. :P

This show reminds me a lot of Kurokami. I think it's because a mystical girl with huge powers shows up, the guy gets huge powers, they activate them by having their hands glow while staring at each other and spinning around on something that looks like an astral plane, and the action scene animation is really good.

Pretty decent so far, although with Onyx beaten it kinda feels like we're nearing the close of the series rather than it just starting. I'm interested in seeing if the show is going to be him coming back over and over again or if Seven Tails, Eriko's company, will get more screen time and the show will be them running around gathering Lost Preciouses.

My favorite character so far is Eriko but I'm hoping that Rose will earn that spot by saying, "Uresai, Uresai, Uresai" or acting tsundere at some point. Along with that unreasonable request, I'm hoping that someone eventually gets good enough at hand-to-hand combat to give Kai a great fight scene.

Pretty good, definitely liked that more than ep 2. Ryuuji is over his bleeeh phase now so things are looking up from here on out. I'm sold on this show after this episode, I think. And next week, swimsuits!

Misaki. I really liked that scene where she thought Ryuuji was coming to her, but of course he saw Rose... She's so adorable doing that even if it's hopeless for her. She looks great in a bikini too.

The series is still being vague as hell on what a breaker is and why we are supposed to care that there are two level 10 ones now.

The new dragon is okay, though I could do without them setting her up with the walking stereotype of white people (at least they don't have him shouting "Oh my God!" every other line yet).

Masaki's shyness and Rose in general was cute at least and hey, we got to see her wings.

Another Dragon Girl gets introduced this time. Maruga-chan is pretty cute. She certainly has some spirit and holds herself well, hopefully she'll actually be able to do something at some point and won't just have to rely on Ryuji doing everything for her.

Eto continues to be a good source of amusement. Her relationship with Ryuuji will not go anywhere, but here attempts to get his attention tend to be cute.

Then there's some other level 10 Breaker which is bad news because.... oh, wait, they still haven't bothered to tell us what the hell a Breaker. Presumably is has something to do with the ability to use Lost Preciouses, but its getting annoying that the show keeps bringing this up without bothering to explain it. And the level 10 thing is pretty meaningless, because while everyone says its a big deal and there are only about 8 of them in the world.... we have nothing to compare them to.

Maruga in a bikini is so beautiful. Really don't seem to get a view in the ED because of the brightness, so nice seeing that, and Eriko's plot with it was nice.

- Hah, man, I've been listening to the full version of Immoralist so much between the last time I watched this show and now that it just feels downright bizarre to hear the TV cut and see the animation again.
- Anyway, beach episode! One I expect to be exponentially hotter than the OniiKoto one i just watched (granted, that was really funny anyway).
- Rose is going to go through a lot of shirts if that happens every time she gets upset.

- Oh hell yes Misaki is incredibly hot. And her boobs are way bigger than I expected.
- Ahaaha oh poor Misaki, you don't realize yet what kind of show you're in, do you? But damn, way to just ignore her, Ryuuji.

I think the brightness is an intentional stylistic choice. I actually like it. It gives an aura effect to the dragons, and makes the show look a little different.

Not that I want every show to start doing this, but I think it is a nice visual change of pace.

I honestly don't think so. Especially since it seemed to calm down in eps 3-4. They seem like separate things to me.

Yeah, this was kind of a fluff episode until the very end. I hadn't pegged the guy who they'd encountered earlier as being in any way involved initially, but the moment he showed up later on it was obvious who he was going to end up being.

In many ways she seems rather ignorant of the whole Lost Precious world. Didn't seem to be aware of dragons and considered herself a freak when she is obviously a werewolf. At first I thought her condition was due to a LP but they specifically pointed out her mark and compared it to Rose's. I think it boils down to whether there is some confrontation with her "master" that is amicably resolved like the situation with George or she's going to wind up in Ryujii's harem.

Let me check. Well, we have a scene of Eriko and Ryuji entering a room of S Class Precious. She comments about them being beyond her reach. Which we could take to mean beyond her level.

Speaking of the Slash Breath, we also had comments along the lines of unlocking its hidden power and such made by Eriko.

So, based on that, we can probably assume that it boils down to your level is a breaker determines your range of use with Lost Precious items.

We can probably also assume that a lot of people are level 0.

It was a nice change of pace, with Ryuuji largely taking a backseat to the girls having an adventure of their own. Poor Misaki... she's going to get dragged into a lot of situations where she's completely and totally confused, isn't she? It's probably for the best that Ai didn't wolf out (if she could have, Bianca implied Lost Preciouses wouldn't likely work in the painting...) and Rose didn't see if it was possible to fly out, they would likely have broken Misaki.

Of course, with the last dragon from the OP showing up next episode- somehow unsurprisingly chasing after Ryuuji it seems- she may get a crash-course in the existence of dragons fairly quickly.

Kind of amused by Bianca's glasses reacting to Ai and her seeming surprised about it... you'd think that the situation with Ai would have become fairly well-known through the Society...

Somehow I think that adulthood ritual is going to have some bad consequences and not just embarrassment between Ryujii and Rose. Sapphie is supposedly quite a bit older. She thinks she's an adult but Onyx seems to see her as a kid still. Rose may be way too young to do what they did and I'm surprised that they went ahead and did it without researching it more. Could they be leading up to some season ending cliffhanger?

There was no way the series was really going to end on this, and as frustrating as Ryuuji's simply handing Rose over on Onyx's word regarding what was going on was this episode at least managed to be fun, have some good action, and moved the relationship forward a bit (Poor Ai... Certainly not the best show of the season by far- but a better and more enjoyable take on a harem show than many, and good silly fun at many points. I'll watch the next season if it happens.

I thought it made decent sense- like Saphie, she has to figure that Onyx (who literally disappeared without a trace it seems...) will eventually make another play for Rose, so sticking close to Rose and Ryuuji would be a wise move.

She was also rather interesting to watch through all of this episode, too... it was at least my impression that she was halfway hoping that Ryuuji & co. would show up and snatch Rose away- she didn't look particularly thrilled when she walked in on Onyx with his arm draped over Rose. I'd guess she's got the hots for him as well, but doesn't seem to register on his radar- perhaps because she's human? She doesn't seem to be a dragon...

Better then expected from the first couple of episodes, with a decent stopping point even if they left it wide open for more if they want. I'd buy it if some one picks it up for DVD/BR release.

The rest was pretty blah. Rose is kind of cute, but between her childish mindset/maturity level and Ryuuji being the most flat-out boring lead this season, I just have zero interest in Rose x Ryuuji. Onyx never actually showed up, but he was really boring too, so its hard for me to care about anything involving him. In short, the current storyline is putting me to sleep.

- Bah so new dragon is indeed an Onyx groupie. But she's also useless.

- And this turn of events is... silly. But better than asking us to take her seriously.
- Rose is ridiculously cute in this outfit and with that ponytail.

Hopefully they don't stick with awkward Rose too long. She needs to be silly and happy.

Episode 11:

- The concept here - instant sexual awakening and the inability to mentally and emotionally process such a dramatic change in relationship dynamic - is a fairly interesting one. Thing is, this isn't the best show to examine it in a meaningful way. It's not being handled terribly or anything, but given that Ryuuji is among the blandest of the blandest males you could ever conceivably create as a writer, my investment in the relationship is nil. I like Rose, but... that's not enough in this case.
- I want to drown Ryuuji's friend and crack open his skull. So annoying.
- Mao is surprisingly persistent in his distrust of Rose. I think she just needs to butt out of Misaki's business.

- It's amazing how fast my interest plummets when Onyx comes back on screen.
- And holy crap Ryuuji is dumb.

Again, nothing egregiously wrong, besides Ryuuji being dumb, but it's hard to get, uh, engaged with the plot I guess.

- We needed more Maruga.

- Oh man Maruga on the runway was pretty badass.
- And this is a completely over-elaborate production. :sd:
- There's a helicopter being pushed by an airplane with a sports car burning rubber on top >_____> What the fuck
- Now a dragon is flying with the airplane in its claws <______<
- And Ryuuji's parents decide to show up.
- Uhhhh so a kiss and a BIG PINK HEART vaporizes the dragon. <________>

- OH GOD TWIN BRAID ROSE!

Sooo uhhhh. That was definitely... a thing. A complete mess, but there was some pretty cool stuff. Man Onyx sure went down like a bitch.

It definitely feels like the staff just gave up and said "fuck it, volume one sold like 500 copies and we're never getting a second season, everyone get wacky" here but I'm not sure I mind too much, since I can think of a lot of endings that would have been worse.

I loved that look she gave Ryuuji during their little talk, and you could see it dawn on her that yes, he was indeed that dense.

My final impression is that this is a show that had potential but somehow fell slightly off due to numrous flaws. Personally I don't care about the Ryuji x Rose relation and Ryuji is bland. Misaki is frustrating to watch and her pitiful attempts to win Ryuji is just pathetic. Bianca is boring. The pacing was uneven and episodes 1-2, 8 , 11 were bad. The climax reminds me of the climax of Kampfer, Princess Lover and Crescent Love for the wrong reasons.
The best thing about the show is Ai and to a limited extent, Eriko. And also at least Ryuji chosed someone even though they don't act like lovers and their relationship is dull.
Looks like this is it for the show as poor sales will guarantee that we won't get a 2nd season.

Maruga is awesome. About time someone lashed out a character for believing the "enemy". Come to think of it, why do characters like believing the enemy so much?

Sapphi is a pretty fun addition to the series. Too bad to get her, we had to go through Onyx related crap.

I think ultimately Onyx and Ryuuji activating "Stupid Mode" is what dragged the series down a bit.

The final part with everyone in school was fun. For the most part anyway.

There wasn't enough Maruga in the series.
