Ask not "Is this a zombie?", ask "is Haruna hot?" and then ask "Am I worthy?". You know, I'm going to feel silly for wording it that way if this shows turns out to not be for me.

Girl with long black hair, wearing a tight tank top and wearing a cape? Awesome.
A magical girl wielding a chainsaw? I"M THERE!

Ask not "Is this a zombie?", ask "is Haruna hot?" and then ask "Am I worthy?".

I'd prefer to ask "What the fuck?"

But to answer the questions, yes, yes yes, possibly not.

Here we have the everyday tale of your everyday schoolboy going about his everyday life. Plus he's a zombie.

Episode one had me in stitches at times, and it also had the lead guy in stitches too in places - literally - and I'm not mentioning which places.

We had a naked magical girl, a silent cute necromancer, and the most disturbing magical girl transformation scene I have ever had the displeasure to witness.

Yup, this one's a keeper - just not that scene.

Yup, this one's a keeper - just not that scene.

I'm really hoping we don't go the whole series with Haruna without her magical powers (though I'm guessing we probably will). The Ayumu crossdressing gag is going to wear thin, maybe...

Some funny stuff here, though, and I look forward to seeing some more of these characters. I want to see Yuu in action.

I'm going to take a wild guess that one of these three aspects is not worthy of being made into avatars.:P

Although the other two aspects are. By other two I mean Haruna and Yuu. In case anyone gets smart.

(Off to see what Dragon Crisis is like)

It would be rather frustrating if that were the case. As it would be the waste of a perfectly good character if they kept her essentially sidelined.

This show is fucking hilarious. I love the twist of a male magical girl.
I feel bad for Ayumu--he gets by a truck, chopped in half...and the worst of all, turned into a magical girl in front of his classmates.

Okay that definitely was one of the most awkward transformation scenes ever. I wonder if he'll ever set foot in class again after what he went through at the end. At least the girls around him are cute. At least he can't die, otherwise the girls around him, would be the death of him.

I'd prefer to ask "What the fuck?"

That was basically my take on what I just saw. I'm not sure what, exactly, they're going for with this thing. It's not horror or drama, there's too many gags for that, but the humor is more on the painful side than funny side.

Poor Ayumu.

Hopefully he inherited Haruna's ability (in theory) to erase memories so he can regain a semblance of dignity... and spend a lot of time erasing keitai photos.

I think this episode had the most laugh-out-loud moments of anything new this season for me (Mitsudomoe doesn't count as 'new'). A note-book communicating necromancer loli (who the protagonist assigns a very girly/dere personality to in his own imagination), and a magical girl who wields a chainsaw as her primary weapon... it's definitely off to an amusing start, that's for sure.

Bahahahahahaha...that was awesome. Just don't let Haruna go the entire series without her powers. That would be lame.

Anyway, very, very funny. The imaginary version of Yuu was hilarious (Kotono Mitsuishi!), and of course she has notebook moe~

And Haruna is Nymph!

A magical girl that uses a chainsaw? And cares nothing for little details like innocent bystanders being killed? Awesome.

The main character turning into a magical girl/guy in drag at the end was pretty funny. But I hope Haruna gets her powers back soon. Like, next episode soon. While this was amusing, I want to see *her* slicing up monsters with a chainsaw, not the guy, and not her being a helpless onlooker.

And Euclid Hellscythe is adorable, even if you ignore Aikawa's imagined aspects of her.

This is definitely a keeper.

Well that was insane. Good thing I'm generally a fan of this kind of insanity. The style reminds me a bit of a less over-the-top version of Dokuro-chan so far, so that's what will keep me watching if it can stay fresh with each episode. I had no idea what to expect, so it was a nice surprise, but it could get old quickly. We'll see.

Did Dyson make a deal with the creators of this show to push their fan?
Haruna's eggs are the stuff of the GODS.
So, we get a vampire ninja...who wears a tight half shirt that barely contain her tits...and a CAPE. Sorry, but Merry's outfit beats yours...by a long shot.
Ayumu's "breakdancing" EPIC FAILURE, but massive LULZ. Animated gif...STAT.
Backstory!
And Sera-san has another shirt...that's exactly the same as her first one, except red.
Yuu slaps some sense into Haruna...but doesn't do anything to Sera-san when she calls him a piece of shit? I guess it's the "die" part.

Yuu slaps some sense into Haruna...but doesn't do anything to Sera-san when she calls him a piece of shit?

It was Haruna telling him to die that seemed to really upset her. Forgot if Sera had told him that as well, but it was that specifically, not the other insults. This episode has certainly raised my interest in Yuu quite a bit. I'm very curious to learn more about her. Ayumu's killer doesn't seem like it was a "normal" serial killer either, given that he seemingly couldn't move before he got killed.

There were some more hilarious bits in this episode as well. I loved everyone at school wanting some of Haruna's eggs from Ayumu  Sera seems to be 100% tsun and may stay that way, but Hikasa's voice is cool and she's hot. She's another midriff girl for this season. Ayumu has some nice delusions about her too. Speaking of that, I wonder if we will get a new VA every episode for his delusions about Yuu? It was Mitsuishi Kotono the first episode and now Kanai Mika this episode, so it seems like something they might make a joke out of. I'll be curious, as well as when we'll actually hear some dialogue from Yuu's real voice (though notebook-writing is cute).

The OP has me real curious about side-ponytail girl. "She is... XXX" When they say "XXX" it has me expecting something crazy will be filling in those blanks.

She's the killer! Or a nymphomatic demon. Given the rest of the characters in this show, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter.

I always wondered what a Vampire Ninja would be like, now that's one less character I'll need to know about :P. I liked the story as to how he met Yuu and it will be interesting to see what she really thinks their relationship is, or if he's just her servant.

Of course Sera is Hikasa Youko. She has long black hair and a cool personality. Also very nice tits. <3

Anyway, Yuu really stole the episode, I'm amused that they changed Seiyuu for "Delusion Yuu" (lol Kanai Mika), and her reaction to Haruna telling Ayumu to die was interesting. A Necromancer that hates death? How curious.

I'm glad that Ayumu didn't actually become a Vampire Ninja, but he still needs to give Haruna her powers back, dammit.

-A tea sipping knight. No delayed shock reaction from the shuffling (probably) main character.

-Okay back from playing Nanaca Crash (http://megami.starcreator.com/nanaca-crash/) for old time sake. Where was I? Right zombie kid.
-Oh shoot. Short of girls smacking him back in teh air and a girl on a bike. They are doing a Nanaca crash reference. Awesome. This show can only go downhill from here though. Kinda like zombie boy's rolling. He better get hit by a car every episode or this whole premise is a let down.
-Mute tsuntsun. Deredere exists only in the minds of the feeble.
-"Do not touch my person undead slave labor."
-Mahou shoujo chainsaw massacre?

-Pedo bear? Is that you? When did you get into high school?

-Why is the necromancer playing with Yusuke Yurameshi's soul?
-Kaizo ningen crayfish anal rapist!
-ROCKETO CLAAAAAAAAAAAAW!!!
-Zombie Jump! Zombie Kick! Mahou Zombi! Mahou Zombi! Zombi! Zombi! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNIo6mS1rw8&t=33s)
-Ending feels like a parody of something. But not sure what.

We meet a vampire ninja and she... does not have the highest of opinions about Ayumu.

Ayumu's idiocy aside, his first meeting with Yuu was pretty cute.

I don't know what's up with me and comedies this season (Zombie, Onii-chan, Beelzebub); but none of them are clicking for me for some reason.

Episode 1:

- Wait, so I go from Kugimiya yelling "Ryuuji! Ryuuji!" to a Majima Junji-voiced character with fierce looking eyes? Hah.
- And he has an academically irresponsible friend voiced by Yoshino Hiroyuki.
- ...o_O Then things got silly all of a sudden.

- The OP is like every 13 year old fanfic writer's wet dream. Zombie! Magical girl ! Necromancer! Vampire ninja! XXX!
- ...Wait, masou shoujo? Heh. :sd:
- Speaking of the OP... Hey, who let Shaft direct that?

- Gah Yuu is the cutest necromancer ever. Also... haha wtf? So apparently each episode, fantasy-world Eucliwood will be voiced by a different seiyuu, but her "default" seiyuu (who just seems to breathe) is Tsukimiya Midori, someone who has don't nothing else. That's a pretty awesome gimmick. I like.
- Also, it means.... notepad communication moe! YES!

- Ooooooh! The chainsaw-wielding M-ahou shoujo is Nomizu Iori. Nymph's seiyuu!
- I'm curious about the mechanics of his regeneration.
- Naked masou shoujo!
- The way Majima says "Omae na..." is so distinctive.
- Would have been nice to translate Haruna's phone conversation, guys.

- Zombies can't walk in the sunlight? Is that a normal part of zombie lore?
- Mmmm, I love translucent clothes like that. <3 Haruna.
- Uhhhh, where's Ika-chan when you need her?
- Lovely henshin time!
- Rocket claw?
- Become a masou shoujo? Oh god, is he going to do a transformation too?
- Ahahaha yes he is.

Well that was awesome.

I'm hoping Haruna spends at least 60% of the show naked. If Ayumu needs to crossdress for that to happen, it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make.

Episode 2:

- Ah so he did wipe their memories. Probably for the best. :sd:
- Oh hey she's actually a good cook. But only fried eggs. Man I could totally go for some fried eggs right now. But I don't do that "cooking" thing.

- This weeks fantasy Yuu, Kanai Mika!
- YES! Hikasa Youko! I think she's pretty much required to voice girls with long black hair now. This is at least her sixth (Mio, Maya, Shino, Izumi, Houki, Seraphim).
- I dunno Sera, he didn't call himself Yuu's servant, she called him that. He wanted "onii-chan". =D
- Kusomushi!

- He throws his severed arm at her. :sd:
- Haha, honestly, I don't much mid if Haruna doesn't get her powers back. Because I find her sitting off to the side lobbing insults and chowing down to be hilarious.
- Hahahaha, he gets all full of himself but she's having none of it. KUSOMUSHI!

- Yuu is sooooo damn cute! "That was interesting. So never do that again."
- FFFFFF, her little 気を付けて as he's walking away totally killed me. ;_;
- Note to self: always be nice to cute armor-clad girls outside convenience stores, as you never know what you'll be murdered by a serial killer and need their help.
- Another note to self: Yuu really really hates the word "shine". Kind of funny that a necromancer is so opposed to death.
- Haruna has already gotten a good collection of game systems together.

You know what the most surprising thing about this is? No, not the seafood monster. Or the vampire ninja. Or the breakdancing. Or the chainsaw-wielding magical girl. Or the crossdressing transformation. Or the severed arm projectile.

It's that there's no "normal" human osananajimi character! Man, what Ayumu wouldn't give for his own Manami...

Anyway this show is awesome so far, totally a keeper.

Haruna's dreams are pretty amusing, fighting a pudding monster with a chainsaw and hoping to eat it. :)

And that really seems like an unusual place for Orito to find out about Ayumu's harem, bumping into them at a bowling alley. It was great see his delusions of all the girls (including this episode's version of Yuu being Kaneda Tomoko. Hah.). Seems like there was a good bit of fanservice throughout this episode, and it's nice. I liked the Twister scene.

Ayumu talking to Kyouko in the hospital about her killer was rather intriguing. A Yuu connection seems to be brought up, but even if she is connected somehow (and the girl is not just describing someone else who happens to look like her), I'm willing to bet there's a lot more to the story obviously.

I'm not sure we can take what Kyouko said at face value. I mean, the one thing we know about the killer is that it's quite short (check the shadow in ep2) and Eucliwood does fit the bill, but surely if she was attacked by Yuu, Yuu wouldn't have failed. Plus we know how she feels about death.

I submit that Kyouko is the serial killer.

That's pretty much what I was thinking as well... or at least that she's got something to do with it and is trying to get to Yuu for some reason. I certainly don't believe her outright- for starters, why was she so hellbent on seeing Ayumu- someone she apparently only passingly knew in middle school? She never said that she liked him- we just know that Orito said she'd been constantly bugging him to bring Ayumu to see her...

On a lighter note, the girls' variant of Mahjong was absolutely hilarious- especially Yuu's winning hand. :D

Sera gets points for being a Vampire Ninja with a nice chest. Also, nice to see the vampire and ninja aspects shown.

That being said, there is a danger of Sera running herself into the ground.

Watching the ending, there are five girls including the three we've met so far. I have to wonder what the other two are like.

Yuu's dislike of using words like "die" casually is curious.

Well, obviously Eucliwood isn't the serial killer. Some shows could pull a twist where a seemingly good main character is the killer, but... I just don't see that happening here. At the moment, the most likely culprit is Kyouko. She encounters the killer but survives.... and we just so happen to get an obvious look at a sword. It's a wooden one, but at the very least it indicates that she can use them. And with what happened to Ayumu, its unlikely she could have just defended herself with a wooden sword if she's a normal human and innocent victim. And then she conveniently describes someone exactly like Eucliwood... yeah, more than a little suspicious.

Didn't she say "them" though? Implying more than one? If that is the case than there could be a whole bunch of Necromancers that look similar to Eucliwood...

If she didn't say them I would actually think it's Kyouko and as for her sudden and strange "attachment" to Ayumu that a lot of other people are bringing up... it's not exactly much worse than a lot of reasons people fall in love with so and so in romance shows..

Anyway a good third ep which was better than the second one, Orito's okay in my book as main character foil as long as he keeps having those fantasies.

And most important....

Yuu > Seraphim > Haruna.

- Now we go to sexy twister!
- Next, bowling! Where do Sera and Haruna get their clothes from?
- Yes, Haruna should definitely wear shimapan.
- He is not Ayumu! He is Masked Ayumu! The perfect disguise!
- This week's fantasy Yuu: Hahah WTF? Kaneda Tomoko, of all people!?
- Hot as Sera is, they've really got to work on how they draw her boobs from the side. It's... weird.

- Well, this suddenly got serious again. A victim who survived the serial killer...
- Yes, twintails are lovely! Kinda sucks for her though, she's in love with Ayumu and he doesn't remember her at all.
- So the profile of the killer sounds just like Yuu... which means it's not. Well, obviously.

- Sword and chainsaw badminton o_O Even without her powers, Haruna is pretty impressive.

Awesome episode again.

Do you have an exact line from the episode we can check? It's tough to put much weight behind pronouns since they're handled so differently in English and Japanese. "Them" in English can just as easily be singular as plural, and it's frequently used as a gender-neutral translation choice when the original Japanese is being, as it often is, ambiguous. The conversation seemed to definitely imply a single person otherwise.

Are you talking to the line "It's probably them." at about 21:26? She says "sono hito" which I don't think has to be singular but it generally is. There are other ways to imply plural.

Anyway I haven't watched the OP closely since ep 1 so I didn't even remember Kyouko was in the OP. Since she's "XXX" I'd say suspecting her is a pretty safe bet for now.

Okay, watching the OP now: yeah that's the girl you point out.

The only appearance Kyouko has in the OP is as the first shot of the very fast-paced sequence of shots after the big explosion. They go as follows:

1) Kyouko smiling
2) Five very evil looking characters, presumably masou shoujo
3) The three classmates
4) A giant monster about to make Tokyo Tower its bitch
5) Blond haired girl with huge boobs smiling
6) The chainsaw in the ground that ends the OP

Haruna is sure energetic with her cooking :), though she should probably not be getting Sera to help out. That pot Sera cooked was way beyond dangerous, but of course Ayumu can't die. I like that the disclaimer came up as she was making Ayumu eat it. :P

Seems a good bit of this episode was rather serious, particularly since we find out more about Yuu. Poor girl seems to have things really tough, not being able to express her emotions and use words to keep her powers in check. She was really worried what Yuu was going to think about it too (makes her cry  ) Of course, Ayumu is a nice guy - I love that he expresses part of his message by writing it on a notebook like she does. Definitely will be interesting to see what happens with her...

It seems like Kyouko is dead at the end (or is she?) I'll be curious to see what happened there too.

Did not expect this. Boy that changes my view of her. She's not this all powerful being, she's a girl trapped by her own power. Actions cause pain, emotions are dangerous, words cause pain. She's afraid he'll hate her and ask her to leave. :depressed: Keep her close she needs you as much as you needed her.

I'm getting more surprised by Zombie with every episode. I went in to episode one seeing promises of chainsaw magical girls and vampire ninjas and was expecting fluff and fanservice. What I'm actually getting is four very deep and complex characters each with their own agenda and powers. Sure they're funny to watch, but you can really believe what they're doing.

I really want to hug Yuu though, poor girl. She cares so deeply but can't care at all.

That entire scene was fantastic. Really, really sealed Ayumu's spot as the best male lead of the season.

The battle at the end was pretty good, nice to see Ayumu and Sera work together smoothly...even if she does have to insult him. Though its gotten to the point where it doesn't really feel like she means it, just that...it would be wrong if she didn't insult him! And damn she's sexy. Especially with those wings.

I'm not convinced Kyouko is DEAD dead... but I could be wrong.

I agree though- this show has ended up being better and deeper than expected, and Ayumu is a surprisingly good (if not weak willed, as the ever-changing-Yuu-voice segments remind us :P) male lead. There's several others that I think give him a run for his money though... overall it's another season with decent male leads (and some totally generic ones too, no doubt...).

I'm only wondering where you've seen a more official romanization, I had a quick look on a couple of websites and couldn't see anything. If her full name is supposed to be "Eucliwood" then I guess it has to be "Eu".

From what I've been reading Koreha is the literal translation of これは but for some reason Japanese use は for the sentence particle wa. So これは would be pronounced Korewa in a sentence. Assuming I understood the rule and didn't hit another exception or ambiguity. So the Crunchyroll translation would be the correct pronunciation but does romanization just follow the literal character translation?

I'm still not sure how this is really supposed to be translated into English:

Well, the episode further pushes that Kyouko is the killer (they reinforce thatt the murderer stops people from moving, so she shouldn't have been able to defend herself no matter how good she is with a sword, and you can see some twintails on the silhouette)..... and then she apparently stabs *herself* at the end. My guess is that she was corrupted by something and was not previously conscious of her murderous actions, and then stabbed herself upon realizing it. Perhaps she actually did think she saw Yuu but it was because of whatever is causing her to act this way.... and maybe its actually an accidental discharge of Yuu's magic that somehow corrupted Kyouko.

Yuu reveals a lot about herself in this episode and explains why she never talks, and we get a surprisingly good Ayumu/Yuu scene out of it. Ayumu is actually a pretty good male lead.

The fight against the giant whale was pretty fun too.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. While はis pronounced "wa" when used as a particle, it is sometimes (often? usuall? this isn't the first time I've seen this done, but I'm not sure how common it is) still romanized as "ha". Which makes sense to the extent that the Japanese are dealing with the same visual/aural disconnect when reading は, so reading "Koreha" and これは is the same thing to them. But it makes for awkward romanization for us foreigners.

I'm still not sure how this is really supposed to be translated into English:
Is this a Zombie?
This is a Zombie?

As far as I can tell with my limited Japanese knowledge, either one would be a correct way to translate it. While there are different connotations to the way the question reads in English, I'm not sure they exist in Japanese in way that can be indicated purely in text. I think the only way you'd be able to tell in Japanese is how they said "kore" (i.e. if they really emphasize it, it would be the second one). If there is a way to distinguish it purely in text, "Is this a Zombie?" would probably be the more proper translation the title while "THIS is a Zombie?" would require some word added in to indicate the connotation.

Seems to be a recurring issue with translating titles since the context is not explicit. It could even be "Are these Zombies?".

Having watched the story I would probably say that the intent would be "THIS is a Zombie?!" implying incredulity that what was being identified as a zombie could really be such. But that's just my interpretation. Since there are other verb endings and particles that I haven't read up on there might be another sentence structure that actually would be closer to that translation though.

If it's considered a topic then shouldn't wa be the right particle? You're comment on the titles would seem to make "Is this a Zombie?" the right translation. Then the show titles would follow from that. The wikipedia translations don't seem right to me though. "Hai, Masō Shōjo desu" is translated as "Yes, I'm a Magical Girl" but I thought that it would be more like "Yes, it's a Magical Girl" following as an answer to the show title where Kore is the topic. I would think that "Zombie desu ka?" would be what you would say to ask "are you a zombie?" (although that might also be "Is this a zombie?" depending on context).

This isn't the only title I've been struggling over so I may be totally out to sea. Japanese is the most "foreign" language I've run across.

"Hai, Masō Shōjo desu" is translated as "Yes, I'm a Magical Girl" but I thought that it would be more like "Yes, it's a Magical Girl"
It's ambiguous on it's own, but would be clear in speech. It's the answer to a question, if you knew the question it would be clear. If it was "are you a magical girl?" the first translation would be correct, if it was "is she a magical girl?" then the second would be correct. It could even be "am I a magical girl?" "Yes you are a magical girl."
Where the object is obvious in speech it of often omitted. I have run into a few times where the object was omitted from a simple statement but the default seems to be "I" for the examples I've noticed, so I would use "Yes, I'm a Magical Girl" if there was no other context to indicate a different object.

I'm guessing if it is, Miyako Tofu isn't the most correct translation (京都 can be read as 'kyouto' and 'miyako'). Miyako Tofu gets this post as the first Google result, as well as a review of a restaurant called Miyako that serves tofu. But Kyoto the city is well known for its tofu, so I think it should have been Kyoto tofu.

As best I can tell 京豆腐 (Kyoutoufu) is a pun of sorts. "Kyoto Prefecture" in Japanese is 京都府 (Kyoutofu), using the -fu suffix instead of -ken like most other prefectures*. Switch the last two characters with 豆腐 (toufu, or tofu as you're probably used to seeing it spelled) and you've got an imperfect (Kyoutofu vs. Kyoutoufu) pun. There's a chain of real-life tofu shops in Kyoto called Kyoutoufu (http://www.kyotofu.co.jp/), just with a different spelling (京とうふ) than what the show uses.

"Dosue" on the other hand is just a Kyoto-accented variant of "desu".

*Osaka(-fu), Tokyo(-to), and Hokkaido (no suffix) are the other exceptions.

Should have guessed though after reading about "Lovely Complex" and it's use of Kansai-ben dialect, that that might happen. Even though I enjoy the stories I know I'll never get all the jokes and references.

Kanji puns seem to crop up quite a bit in anime. The new transfer student often identifies which characters make up their name while someone else tries to turn the name into a joke, for example.

Well, Sera being a "vampire ninja" and all, she does need to suck blood, and I'm quite happy seeing the manner in which she does it. Yay for Koorogi Satomi being this week's delusion of Yuu. So awesome... Also neat having Ayumu get to talk to Dai-sensei and getting a bit more background on Haruna.

"Kyouko" seems to be the name of choice for mean magical girls this season. She's pretty powerful and has some nice cleavage... I loved Ayumu's "How does it feel to be beaten by a pervert?" line - that really cracked me up for some reason. She's not going down easily, though. Looks like we may finally see some of Yuu in action.

Good way to start the episode. Interesting Haruna remembers Ayumu's name. I have to pay attention to what she calls Yuu and Sera. Kyouko has way too many lives, but I'm looking forward to seeing her take on Yuu.

Ok, now we at least know what the Kyoto tofu was about and what Kyouko is. Anybody guess Masou Shoujo? Or is that not what she really is? Yuu being involved has some bad drawbacks given what we know about her powers. I wonder if this is going to wrap up or will Kyouko get away somehow. She says she has ten more lives so they may have to kill her multiple times. Is Sera going to wind up a vampire ninja zombie?

All episodes from now on must have Sera feeding. ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED NO EXCEPTIONS

Anyway, Kyouko seems to be the same as this group (http://fencedude.com/Images4/ZombieOp3.jpg), so most likely they will come to avenge her later.

Really, after this arc, Haruna needs her powers back. The joke has just about run its course.

Anyone else note that Kyouko walked by Side-ponytail girl at the beginning? I wonder if she'll show up...

-WOOHOO! Free show for Yuu & Puu!
-Dude you're a step above a rotting corpse. Why would she even consider drinking your blood.
-Yuu will not rust. Puu will not sink.
-CUP ONNA STRING!
-Dang it. Mad scientist in a lab coat magical manager needs more screen time.
-Phonecall of the dead!
-That's a lot of broken TARDISs... TARDISI... phonebooths.

-Well that Yuu voice was better than some of the others. Well cute anyway. But does not fit Yuu at all.
-"Yeees~ That's a lie~" cute = evil
-Mahou henshin breast lift! What is it with evil magical girls this season?
-She killed Doggie Kruger! Murder her Magical Masochist Ayumu!

This show is more amusing than it has a right to be. Very basic harem with extreme stereotype girls brimming with fanservice flavors mixed in with magic and monsters, yet somehow this show is more than the sum of it's parts. The comedy works in a way because it's stupid.

So rather than being corrupted, Kyouko is just evil from the beginning. I like it that way more, actually. It was also my original assumption, but it doesn't explain why she stabbed herself at the end of the previous episode.

Anyway, Evil Magical Girl/??? Kyouko is a lot of fun and the fight was against her was pretty cool. And next time, we should (hopefully) get to see Yuu be awesome and help beat her down.

Seraphim needs to suck Haruna's blood more often. I <3 girl/girl bloodsucking so very much.

The problem is that if she gets her powers back she has no excuse to stay. She obviously is attracted to Ayumu which Dai-sensei (loved her phone btw) even seemed to know about. Besides that, who would provide Sera with blood? Maybe now that an evil Masou Shoujo has appeared Haruna can be officially stationed at Ayumu's house for a while to track her down, which would make it okay for her to get her powers back and still have a reason to stick around.

I found it interesting at even though she can't transform she still has a number of abilities such as super strength, barrier removal and a force field.
I think Haruna can still use her magic to some extent but just can't sustain it for long, since she can summon her MS outfit but it quickly disappears. So she can still do things like force fields and so on.

From what we've seen of Ayumu using it, the outfit itself seems to be what confers much of the capabilities (additional strength, flight, use of the weapon), but there are some things she's apparently learned to do independent of it- potentially due to her being a genius (even Kyoko was surprised that she could so easily break the force field).

That's really no problem at all, she'll more than likely go back with her powers and to drop off the tofu or whatever and Ayumu will wake up the next morning and walk past her and do a double take and it will go into why are you still here blah blah blah, dai sensei said i should blah blah blahl. It will be some variation on that, seen so many over the years in manga/anime.

Episode 4:

- Minaguchi Yuuko doing fantasy Yuu is so weird for me because all I can hear is Ibuki Kouko.
- Wow, that is some impressive... food. I find it hilarious how Seraphim barely reacts to the ladle melting.
- He's such a polite hell-guarding dog once he understands the situation.
- Ahahaha, oh goddamnit, the tea scene should not have been anywhere near that funny. :sd:

- Well, not that I really thought Yuu was the culprit but they seem to be giving her an unbreakable alibi already - the killer is here while all three girls are still back at home. And the killing went on when she was right with Ayumu.
- And bye bye doberman. Whoever it is has a similar gauntlet to what Yuu has, just as Kyouko said.

- Explanation for Yuu's personality: she's so powerful that just speaking or showing emotions could destroy the world. Well then!
- !!!!!! Crying Yuu! Man, way to blindside me with that, KoreZom. Poor poor Yuu, don't cry. ;_;
- But Ayumu continues to be awesome in his support of her.

- And crying brings on a gigantic flying whale megalo...
- Hahaha oh god he transformed again. Yuu just stares. :sd:
- Seraphim is disgusted. Like, more than usual.
- Woah hey, Haruna clearly has some significant powers left. She can create a shield big enough to cover an entire city against a AAA-class Megalo?
- ...Oh man that was awesome. I love this show.

...Someone just killed Kyouko. o_O (At least, so it seems). Damn.

That's what I'm saying, her name isn't Japanese at all.
Certainly not, but my take is that as a nickname it's a Japanese-ified shortening of her full name. So I can see people calling her Eu (if they want to keep strict to the non-Japanese spelling) or Yuu (Japanese equivalent of the ユー nickname). "You" just looks like a creation of the notoriously scattershot usage of latin characters on various official Japanese sites. You know, same thing that gets us "Kyubee" in an official website sound clip filename and "Kyubey" in a brief CM for the critter in Madoka. I doubt the person naming the twitter page put even 2 seconds of thought into what we're debating.

Basically my thought process is:

Eu cli wood
ユー クリ ウッド
Yuu kuri uddo

Eu
ユー
Yuu

(Obviously I'd never type her full name as Yuukuriuddo but we're talking nicknames here.)

- God yes this episode started wonderfully. I kenw immediately that she was just gettign some blood, but tgar doesn't explain kissing her full on the mouth beforehand!
- "Anesthetic". I DONT BUY IT.
- Oh and Kyouko walked by looking less than dead. Also the last girl was there, but didnt seem to recognize Haruna so she doesn't seem to be behind it.

- ...I'm just going to pretend the ridiculously light covering Haruna was an aftereffect of her failed transformation rather than completely ridiculous censorship.
- Yuu even has to bathe with some of her armor. :sd:
- !!!!TY@%^!@@^%!@%#%@ YUU IN THE BATH SO CUTE AERGEHGRHGRHRHRHRGH! Her hair is so pretty~
- I think Haruna is dyslexic...
- But she's poking Sera's boobs so that's fine!
- Awww, Yuu wants to play boobie poke too but her armor stops her from joining in. ;_; THAT IS ABSOLUTELY TRAGIC.
- And I was assuming Dai-sensei was a man... but it's a girl voiced by Shimizu Ai!

- Kyouko calls. Ayumu poses. Yuu and Sera see.
- Also I assume the "obvious" answer at the moment is that another necromancer is behind Kyouko. She's tried to kill herself for what she's being forced to do, but she's already been made a zombie so it's not going to work.
- HAHAHA WHAT. Koroogi Satomi. It's... it's Ushio!!

- Wow, Kyouko is straightforward.
- Well, I meant about confessing but admitting to being the killer would apply too. >_>
- Errrrrr, okay! She's a masou shoujo. So what was with the deadness at the end of ep 4? Well maybe she's a zombie and a masou shoujo. I mean, there is precedent. :sd:
- Kyouko's boobs are surely a sight to behold.

- Hahah, he transforms against his will and is called a pervert by friend and foe alike. Poor Ayumu.
- Ah, not a zombie. But each soul she steals gives her another life.
- YUU ARRIVES!

I never realized that Twister could provide so much value. Especially when girls in the right outfits are playing. Plus, I love the fact Yuu enjoys watching it.

In regards to Kyouko, putting aside whether or not she's telling the truth. The conversation between her and Ayumu reminds me of one thing I vaguely remembering hearing awhile ago.

Which is that when you ask a person for information, don't do it in such a way that you are in fact the one providing the information. Seriously, think about how most of the conversation went.

Eucliwood was certainly looking overpowered there for a bit, and she was quite awesome as magical girl necromancer. Wasn't able to beat Kyouko on her own, as Kyouko utilizes the "destroy hearing" technique to avoid Eucliwood's death by words. Then when it's back to other people fighting her, she kills herself to get another life and her hearing back. How convenient...

For a little while there, I thought they were going to try to redeem her in the middle of battle with Ayumu talking to her, but thankfully they didn't (that would have seemed odd). She got spared, but was pretty thoroughly beaten (and looking hot in a naked cape...) I'm wondering how much the "Lord of the Night" guy had control over Kyouko. Was he completely in control and she's just been innocent the whole time, or did he just kind of manipulated her into being evil?

I was thinking a few episodes ago that Tange Sakura would probably be a good choice to voice one of the episodic fantasy Yuu's, and what do you know? She actually did, this episode, and that was pretty sweet. :)

I'm going to think that won't happen to Ayumu... he's generally started off wearing clothes, and Yuu still had her armor (her normal clothes would likely have been vaporized in that attack).

It was interesting to get confirmation that the Masou Shoujo's weapon is to a large extent the key to their powers- Ayumu's breaking Kyouko's sword took away her Masou Shoujo abilities. I'm thankful they spared us the gory details of his knocking off the extra lives with the chainsaw...

So, we've got a Final Boss, an Haruna is tacitly assigned to stay with Ayumu and Yuu. Sera, of course, isn't going anywhere until she gets Yuu to help her- but she's also (like Haruna- her essentially saying, "Fuck it, I'm going to kick her ass even if I DON'T have my powers..." was a really cool moment...) getting attached to the others. This show definitely has ended up being far better than I was expecting it to be, and it's still only half over...

I'm glad we now know more about "shuriken hair" girl (as I'd dubbed her)

Now to go back and rename that avatar. :P

I like your name for her better than mine!

Another cute (emphasis on cute) girl gets added to the mix, and she's another vampire ninja. Though she's much less ninja-like than Sera. And she attacks with..... Ramen noodles. Oh, and she gets married to Ayumu.

Haruna has to explain the origins of the universe and string theory in order to teach Ayumu how to do fairly simple math problems was pretty funny. And Dai-sensei is quite the mischievous cute little teacher, keeping things vague just for shits and giggles on something she sent to Ayumu also just for shits and giggles. "How are you supposed to know what to do if I just tell you what it is?"

And that was an.... interesting re-imagining of Santa.

Episode 6:

- MASOU SHOUJO YUU!!! THAT IS THE BEST THING!
- Now we just need Sera to become a masou shoujo. The whole primary cast needs to transform!

- And Yuu springs into action! ...actually, that's perhaps not the best way to put it. Yuu stands still into action!
- Wooow. This show is goddamned impressive. The "die" scene was amazing, as Yuu was forced to do it over and over and expend all of Kyouko's lives. The skin on Kyouko's arms coming completely off was pretty fucked up, but in an effective way. And rupturing her own eardrums... damn.
- Yuu go boom. ;_; All her clothes gone except the armor...

- Triple attack! ...doesn't go very well.
- Hmm I guess we'll find out why she was killing herself before.
- ZAWA ZAWA ZAWA
- Ahh, killing herself regenerates.
- And holy crap Yuu goes all out on her. Hearing the sound of chainsaws and screaming for a good 20 seconds or so was all sorts of unsettling.
- But one life is left...

- Armor-only is strangely hot on Yuu.
- Dai-sensei! I think you need to give Kyouko some remedial lessons. >_>
- Ah. Kyouko is being controlled. Guess it's a good thing Ayumu didn't kill her (too many times).
- And it's a zombie Yuu killed?

- Tange Sakura heh.
- She smiled~~

Post-ED:
- Errrr.

Damnit this show is good. Way way better than could have been expected, not just in what it does but more importantly in how it does it. You could leave the plot exactly as is and get a shit show out of it, but the execution is amazing - from comedy to death and everywhere in between (well, sometimes the same thing).

If we're just going to favorites though- get Noto to voice her one episode and have Ayumu's internal fantasy of her speaking get interrupted. :P
Noto's specialty (breathing, slight moans, barely audible grunts) is already being handled quite admirably by Tsukimiya Midori though.

For some reason I want Fukuen Misato to get one of the voices.

- Have I mentioned how much I love Haruna's adherence to the Strike Witches school of fashion?
- Ahaha, Haruna on the window <3

- I guess Haruna can still at least hold her own without her powers, but it's clearly not enough. And holy crap that horse is creepy.
- SHE IS... the ramen warrior?
- Or another vampire ninja.
- And she's cute. Very cute. Maelstorm!
- She's also now Ayumu's wife. :sd:

- HOLY SHIT BEST TANABATA.
- Ponytail time!! Nothing new for Sera, but it looks amazing on Yuu. Cute on Haruna too. I'll ignore the other. ...Okay, in truth that could totally be his normal hairstyle and it would work. In theory. It gives off a totally different personality though.
- Matsuoka Yuki Yuu is killing me. <3

- Ayumu opens a door. Is this heaven, or hell?
- Tanabata fun <3

This was a pretty amusing episode overall. It's interesting seeing how things have gone with Tomonori now in the mix, and it seems Haruna has gotten to be very jealous. Haruna is still so adorably eccentric. Really a good bit of nice moments with all of the main girls this episode, and even some of the school friends.

It looks like the King of the Night meets up with Yuu. Very curious to see what's going to happen there.

It's a riot how Ayumu manages to get beaten up by Haruna even though he hasn't done anything. He gets pounded because she had a dream about him and then pounded because he accidentally kissed Tomonori and not her. Then he winds up paying for all their clothes shopping. He's got to stop antagonizing Sera, even if he can't die it's not going to be fun chopped into little pieces.

I felt bad for Yuu as she looked at the sexy bra. Poor girl stuck in her armor. Got to agree with Ayumu, if I'm going to fantasize it's going to be about Yuu.

"Kisses between girls don't count" Liiiiiiiiieeeees! You are totally Haruna's wife.

The cute shoulder-twin-tails girl finally gets a little bit of attention. I'm pretty sure she's a member of the coupon club and has an older sister that is/was student council president at a school that recently made the transition from all-girls to co-ed. Anyway, definitely want more of her.

Haruna had some nice focus and development in this episode. And I'm amused that she's more fully clothed in her pajamas than in her casual, around-the-house attire.

Actually, given their respective natures, I think it would be more accurate to say that Haruna is wife. Semantics, but still... :P

I also get the impression that she has a crush on Orito, given the lunch she was hiding. You'd think if she had a crush on Aikawa that she would have reacted a lot worse at Mael's claim to being his wife...

Haruna had some nice focus and development in this episode. And I'm amused that she's more fully clothed in her pajamas than in her casual, around-the-house attire.
This begs the question- what the heck did she wear for 'casual wear' before losing her Masou Shoujo powers? Did she just run around naked all the time? Is the Masou Shoujo school girls-only, so that kind of thing is accepted? She seems to have a definite issue with (or lack of concern about) clothing...

DI don't trust Dai-sensei as far as I can throw her.

To be fair she's not very big, and can't be that heavy - you could throw her a lot further than most of the other characters.

Speaking of which, if we take that saying seriously, what type of scale are we supposed to be using of trust vs distance thrown. I can see it now.

Judge: James! Throw the defendant!

I dunno... somehow the plot in this is annoying me a lot less than shows in the past. Perhaps it's the fact that it's actually been around and slowly coming more to the forefront from the very beginning and doesn't feel like an complete afterthought (*cough*Asobi ni Iku Yo*cough*).

I've gotta admit, I want to see a Vampire Ninja Orchestra...

I guess next episode we find out just exactly HOW immortal Ayumu is... with most zombies, destroying their brains takes them out... but then, I get the impression that if it were that easy, our antagonist zombie who is tired of living would have blown himself up long ago...

Got a BIG laugh out of the ending screen, too... though it was annoying that the titles overlapped and made it hard to see the 'Large' in the middle...

So I guess the normal vampire "rules" are not in effect for this universe? I mean if Sera is a vampire, she is already undead, right? If she is now a zombie, does that make her doubly undead, whatever that means (never mind that, as a vampire, Yoru no Ou did not use a wooden stake or decapitation in his attack)?

Yuu hates killing. So we have a villain that actually *wants* to die, she can probably do it, but she won't because of her values. Though it may be more than that, because she looked like she would have killed Kyouko if she hadn't destroyed her own eardrums. But since we didn't get to that point, we don't know to what extent Yuu refuses to kill. But her history with the guy may be more of an issue than killing. Wasn't there a comment that she experiences the actions that she inflicts on others? In other words, each time she killed Kyouko she also experienced her death? Since she created him there may be some blowback if she kills him. Possibly causing harm to others.

Hm, is that what it was? I think I remember 1) she feels the pain she heals from Ayumu (actively healing him that is, not his normal zombie healing) and 2) her emotional state can manifest problems in the real world, but not that what she does to others is returned. If anything, 1) would imply she feels healing if that were the case...

But it's been a while since they were explaining that so maybe I forgot something important.

Yesss... plot time is done. Glad we have a silly episode left over, so hopefully it's a fun one.

Anyway, Haruna was decently awesome throughout most of the episode, snapping Ayumu out of his depression, and we also get to see her as a magical girl again finally, and a double transformation with Ayumu at that. On the other hand, vampire ninjas form a maid orchestra and fight with music... Kind of a shame the magical girl stuff didn't last long - Yoru no Ou mainly got beat in by Ayumu by brute force but at least he got it anyway like he should.

Her speaking could bring destruction/doom, which is why she usually doesn't speak- she said earlier that she never knew which of her words would become 'real'- though presumably she can actively use that power when she wants to by giving imperative commands ("Die.").

And you may not have appreciated it, but I was certainly not going to complain about a Vampire Ninja Maid Orchestra playing through most of the episode. :catgirl:

Ayumu gets out of bed and wanders around naked, and noone punches him.

Yuu wakes up in the middle of the field a few episodes ago wearing nothing but her armor (i.e. no pants) and she doesn't throw a fit.

I expect the trend will end next week, since it seems to be a fanservicey comedy episode. Would be nice if I'm wrong though

I love this episode. The orchestra (including Tomonori's triangle) was awesome, Haruna transforming and then apparently flying around the world from the force of her attack was awesome, and Yuu talking was awesome. I would really like to see this show get a second season. I've come to like the cast a lot, and the family-like relationship that the four living together have formed. I'm glad there's going to be an extra fluff episode.

-This is the craziest easter egg hunt ever.
-"THIS GROIN OF MINE IS GLOWING HOT! IT'S FERAL ROAR TELLS ME TO KISS YOU!"
-Is Ayumu going to spend this entire episode naked? I almost hope so just so we can see Yuu blush.

-Aww he got dressed :\
-Tokyo Tower, the site of so many emotional confrontations, epic battles, magical transportation accidents, and giant egg layings.
-Vampire ninja maid violinist of Tokyo.
-Chainsaw angry! Chainsaw can not shut up. Chainsaw wants to help fight too.
-Mahou Shoujo Double! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUIyMYgHLus)
-VAMPIRE NINJA MAID ORCHESTRA!
-DOUBLE MAHOU KICK!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPXAgx5gR44)
-"That's not a kick!" Hehehe. It's still funny.
-Prinnies are awesome dood.
-Yuu spoke...
-Hehehehehe. Haruna enjoyed her parabolic arc around the globe.

Dyson product placement never ends. And this show hasn't ended yet either. Hooray~

Episode 11:

- Scouring the city for body parts. >_> That was more graphic than I expected.
- Awww, Haruna resting her head on Sera's shoulder, and Sera hugging her. <3
- Man, after really disappointing eps 9-10, this one has started off very well. The Haruna scene in Ayumu's dreams was back at the level of awesome emotional stuff that this show was doing so well earlier on.
- But put some clothes on, dude.

- o_O Yes Sera, only you can defeat the megalo. By playing violin in a maid outfit. Wait what.
- I love Yuu and all, but this really is her fault. Villain guy is a dipshit, but all she has to do is kill him. Like he wants. And like she should want too. You can't have it both ways, Yuu! Stop pissing me off.
- Haruna transformed again! Dual henshin!
- Now we have a vampire ninja maid orchestra! This makes no sense! =D

- "That's not a kick!"
- And yes, yes you are cute, Haruna!
- Now she's gone already. Jeeze.
- Holy fuck he just PUNCHED THROUGH HIS HEAD. That was brain bits on the wall. o_O Wow.
- And despite the bed guy being really terrible and Yuu needlessly exacerbating the situation, that was a very awesome scene as he gives up and she sends him away.

THEN SHE SPEAKS! HOLY CRAP!

And I love the totally shameless lead in to an onsen episode for the ending. <3

Oh wow, that was fantastic. It had everything that I felt was missing in the past few episodes. Good fights, nice emotional scenes, Haruna transforms, and Yuuuuuuuu finally no longer being stupid! Yay!

Tempted to change my 4th import from Fractale to this now, but it's damn expensive. ¥9240 * 6 for 12 eps? Christ. I paid that for Strike Witches 2 but also liked that a lot more.

Episode 12:

- Porori! Porori! Need to see what's under Yuu's armor!
- A school swimsuit. :sd: And huh, I thought she might end up being kinda busty under there, but she's definitely not. More than Haruna, though.

- Ohhh god she's too cute in the innertube with her U_U eyes. <3
- Man, Tomonori is seriously stacked too.
- Dai-senseiii!

- Vampire Ninja Idol! Lovely Kira!
- Hahaha, Sera is just mortified. I love her reaction when Saraswati confirms it's not a mission. Hikasa Youko <3
- Sera confronts her, but Saras will not back down unless Sera defeats her... as an idol! Cue duet!
- Oh god this is amazing. SEXY SEXY SERA! Sideboooooob!
- Is Haruna joining them?

- YES! Hahaha, with the Futami-style haircut.
- Dai-senseiii!
- o_O She makes babies cry! She causes normal people to run in terror! All fear, all love Haruna!
- Flamethrowers and chainsaws!

- Of course it can't end there. Yuu wants to sing too! But if she gets excited, bad things would happen, right?
- Enter Dai-senseiiiii! She has a device that, for an hour, will absorb extra energy from Yuu and put it in Ayumu, so he'll be bound to her restrictions and she can sing freely. Go go Yuu!
- I think the crowd gets bigger every shot. :sd:
- Yuu's boobs grew.
- And now she sings!
- Maaan it's cute. Her seiyuu has a sweet singing voice.
- Haha, Ayumu in her armor.

- But the machine runs out in the middle of her song! Oh no!
- Awwwwwwwww~! Haruna helps her out with magic and they sing a duet.
- HAHAHAH, Sera and Saras doing the backup dance behind them. XD

- Oh shiiiiit. Ayumu wishes all the girls in the world could wear outfits like this. But he spoke it out loud while using Yuu's powers. =D
- ....GREAT THINGS ENSUE.
- God Yuu looks amazing in this bikini. Well, they all look great. But her most of all I think.

Really nice epilogue type bit, as a Season Two indicator walks past Ayumu (though, sales are kinda... on the cusp I guess. Not great.)

Fantastic ending. So so so much better than trying to do another episode of plot. Hoping for a second season! I think I *will* switch Fractale out for this after all, since at least with this we know there's a chance of a second season, so the support means more.

Seraphim was looking sexy in pretty much every single outfit she wore this episode, and I really like Haruna's swimsuit (seen that before in some novel-based artwork). Also, some great heartwarming scenes with Yuu... (and Haruna with her) I like how Sera's Ayumu insults have gotten so affectionate at times.

I think she might have been one of the shadowy figures that appeared briefly in the OP. I'll have to dig back through that discussion again to check.

The only way this episode could have been better would have been for a full Vampire Ninja rock band to be playing for the Idols (With Seraphim playing bass, of course :catgirl: ). It just kept getting more and more awesome (though Sera and Sara need to learn some new dance moves....). I have to agree- that micro-bikini looked best on Yuu's figure... it just isn't that flattering on all the more top-heavy girls, and Haruna, well... at least she fits in it well..

And Sera needs to stop watching the Nyarlko Cooking Hour for recipes...

This was definitely the best way to end the season. Like Okami-san, they know that going out on a fun and light note is better than the heavy plot-stuff, and it worked fantastically well in the end.

This show has consistently been one of the best this season all-around, especially given that I had exactly zero expectations of it being worthwhile from just its initial description. It sounds like the most generic setup for a show ever: "A Zombie, a necromancer, a magical girl, and a vampire ninja walk into a bar," but the strength of the characters and the way the bonds between them were so well developed drove to be something fantastic. I definitely hope that it will end up doing well enough, either in disc sales or bumping up novel sales, to merit us getting more.

Seriously? Does Yuu have to be in a school swimsuit? Ugh.
-"This is the tender loving gaze of a man." Ya damn right.
-Vampire ninja idol, and oddly cute CG crowd.
-AHAHAHAHA! The Idol war image is fantastic.
-Haruna, you too? Also did you just get taller and skinnier?

-Women and children flee in horror at the sound of Haruna's song.
-You are the third best mad scientist ever! Let teh suction begin!
-No Yuu! Put the helmet back on!
-The souls of the terrified women and children are soothed by Yuu's song.
-MYSTLETAINN-SENSEI!?
-Arousing indeed.
-Suddenly a new flatchested girl with a pink curl.
-Where was Yuu's little green penguin pet Puu all episode? Where was the Dyson fan!?

That was the best ending of the season. (Only because SRW was last season started and Madoka hasn't ended yet.) Definitely the surprise hit of the season for me. A much needed injection of funny into a winter of seriousness and giant robots. Hmm. This has been my favorite season of anime in a long time. Thank you Zombie. May you sell well and get a sequel.

I totally agree. I figured they would have made a super generic pool/swimsuit episode after sooo many wonderful ones and for a short time I believed it was going that route. Gotta give it up for the vampire ninja's for saving the day and I'll never complain when it comes to micro mini's :nosebleed:. The last scene was the cherry on top :). More please....:bowsmiley:

Oh, right, Ayumu blew himself up last time. So now the girls get to go find all his body parts so they can try to patch him together. Ewwww.... But it body looks more like it was chopped up than blown up. After having a bomb on his head blow up, they should be picking up little bite-size chunks of him, not whole limbs and and his entire, mostly intact torso. His head especially should be just obliterated, not cleanly cut off at the neck.

Haruna finally transforms again in a team up with Ayumu and we get a vampire ninja in maid outfit symphony, led by Seras.

But most importantly, at the end.... Yuu speaks! She has an actual, verbal conversation with Ayumu, and its fantastic. And her voice is just adorable.

Bwahahaha, Saraswati is an idol! Seras' absolute horror when she discovers it is hilarious. The world of idols is a horror that vampire ninjas and Megalo can't imagine!

ZOMG YUU SINGS!!!!!

Yeah, so they pulled a bait and switch, promising us a pool episode, then suddenly changing into a completely insane idol competition instead. And it was awesome. Too bad we didn't have a translation for the songs, particularly Yuu's. I could understand a few words here and there, but not nearly enough.

And right at the end, we get a character tease. Too bad there's pretty much no way we'll get a second season. :(

We never saw any of that magical girl team from the OP either. I'm guessing it will turn out he had been working with someone else for a while while also hoping for his own death.... but are we certain that it was him that was connected with Kyouko and talking there? My memory of that scene is really vague and I don't recall what exactly happened and was said there.

I can't get a complete sense of what it's saying but from what I can make out it seems to be saying the KoreZom novels increased dramatically in sales after the anime aired.

The DVD/BD release is looking at fairly middling sales (4k for vol. 1, probably around 3k average in the end) but if it's driving novel sales to a big increase, we may get a second season after all.

It's been having not great but very consistent first week sales across the first three volumes (bout 3k, v1 with extra reporting was about 4.3k) and that at ¥9240 lolkadokawa pricing. So not disastrous disc sales plus apparently great novel sales (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showpost.php?p=1936082&postcount=232) seems to be enough. Yay.

It looks like this episode is divided into three mini-episodes, and looks like this focuses on the hilarious and fun side of the series. I really enjoyed the second mini-episode which had some more delusion Yuu (Lum's voice this time) and notepad Yuu. Made me think of some of the earlier episodes again... I liked the Sera development too, though, particularly why she continues to cook. It's nice that it's not just a "her food is always terrible" gag again this time, though that continues to be funny anyway. It was pretty sweet. And the third mini-episode really seems to confirm that Ayumu's harem is quite large indeed... (it was interesting to see some Hiramatsu Taeko focus as the broadcast episodes seemed to largely ignore her)
