View Full Version : Is 4MB enough for only offline game saves for a 360 use.

I'm thinking about getting a 360 S, but to save money, am considering the 4MB version. I don't game online, d/l & am not interested in Kinect, so would 4MB be enough for only saving games.

I like the S for its smaller size & built in wireless feature. Also my TV is gloss black...

It's 4GB not 4MB and it should be more than enough for merely saving games.

Eh, as far as saves are concerned, you'd be fine with the basic. HOWEVER, there's at least one game that can't even be played if you go with the 4 GB version (Halo something or another). Without more space, you can't install games. Installing makes loading more or less painless (which, depending on the game, can be a significant difference - 50ish percent for Lost Odyssey). I'd save some more and go with the 250 GB version because you'll likely end up buying yourself a HD later on if you don't. I'd say you're better off buying an older model with a decent HD if you just really don't want to plunk down the extra money.

BTW, just as an FYI, I've used up ~100 GB with the ten games I have so space can go pretty quickly.

I'd have to agree with Ryos, installing games is the way to play on the 360. I remember not having enough space to install Alan Wake, and I swear the system was sounding like it was going to break. That's because I myself got a 4GB Slim system; but my wife got me the additional HD (250GB) for my birthday.

So you can get the 4GB if you want, but you'll probably find yourself wanting more space. Though I wouldn't get an older model 360, 'cause on top of the built-in wireless, the slim actually uses less power to operate.

Get the larger Xbox, seriously. Cheaping out on storage space is going to bite you in the ass, if only because the 360 has the LOUDEST DRIVE EVER MADE. So you can cut down the noise level significantly by installing games.

Thanks folks. I'll go for the 250GB as you advise & trade in something to lessen the difference in price.

For what it's worth, the 360S is significantly quieter than the old ones. Even running from disk mines not really any louder than my PS3 (though I still install all my games anyway).

Will the S still take the HD-DVD player peripheral, sold for the original? If not, will any 360 with a HDMI output?

It looks like the newer version supports the required inputs for the peripheral if you want HD-DVD support for some reason.

Now 360s have HDMI output, the HD-DVD quality will show better. I Have some movies & anime on HD-DVD. The 360 drive was cheap.
