So yeah, I picked this game up yesterday (along with BB: Continuum Shift, which I plan on getting rid of shortly). I really enjoyed my time with the demo, and after playing so many military-based First Person Shooters over the past year or so, this looked pretty unique. I'm through the first Act, and so far I'm having a lot of fun with the game. The best thing I can say about the story is that "it exists", the dialogue is crass and stupid (not to mention frequently nonsensical), and to call the game "stupid" is to give it a compliment.
That said, this game is a real blast to play, in many ways a much more refined successor to the Wii brawler Madworld. While the game takes longer to ramp up than I thought it would (the game unlocks the upgrades for your gun exceptionally slowly), once it hits a groove things flow nicely and there's a nice variety of ways that you can deal with enemies. With the game slowly unlocking hints for how to perform certain skill shots with the various weapons, the game's constantly pushing you to experiment with its systems and see what you can pull off. It doesn't hurt the game is pretty gorgeous with everything just oozing in color, either.
Anyone else playing this one?

I wasn't going to bother until I watched a video review and now it's firmly on my "buy when sub-£20" list. Far too much out and coming out in the next few weeks and months to give priority to this, even though it does look like a lot of fun.

I was planning to either pick this up or DS Universe online in the next couple weeks. Gives me something to think about as I do like some FPS games. I still have yet to start the newly acquired Singularity but from all I've seen and heard about Bulletstorm...it seems like a refreshing experience for once. What's up BB:CS?

Looks really cool, but i fear it'll get repetitive fast. As with Johnny, i'm waiting for a price drop on this one before getting it. Way too much games to buy these days (surprise), and i'm covered for shooters with Killzone 3.

I'm also going to pass. It looks like it could make for some good brainless fun, but there's just too much else coming out soon that's higher on my list of gaming priorities. Dragon Age II, Crysis 2, Portal 2, Deus Ex 3...

What's up BB:CS?
They removed the Right Analog Stick shortcuts that you could use in Calamity Trigger to activate your distortion drives, which allowed people like me who aren't good at Fighting Games to be able to fight on something approaching equal terms with Fighting Game Experts/the CPU. Now you either learn to pull off the ridiculously-hard-to-activate button sequences, or you play an extremely limp "Beginner" mode where pressing buttons does all the combos for you. There's no middle ground anymore: you are either a fighting game master, or a button masher. You can't play the game normally anymore with just the hard button sequences made easier. BLEH!

That the shortcuts were removed in Continuum Shift, that they ever existed, or that I'm bothered by their removal? ^_-

I'll probably end up buying this used for PC... prefer to save up for new HD TV and a PS3, but it'll be awhile for that... :(

Well, despite saying I was going to wait for a price drop I ended up buying this yesterday and am just watching the credits roll at the minute. It looked fun from videos/the demo, but the full game was a lot more enjoyable than I was expecting. Frantic ending too, similar to another FPS that came out recently, Killzone 3.

Yeah, I've been trying to get back into the game the last couple of days. After completing the first chapter of the second Act, though, I'm finding it a hard game to jump back into. There are just so many variables to consider while you play: the weapons on hand, your points, the number of charges your weapons have, the location of environmental objects, new skill shots available due to new environmental objects, new skill shots you haven't done yet, optimal routes through a section of a level, etc. I've had fun, but it does take its toll on me so I've pretty much stuck to single chapter play sessions of late.

Just finished Act 2, and man this act easily has the best dialogue in the game so far. "Waggleton P. Tallilicker" had me in stitches the way that Steven J. Blum performed it, as well as the song he sung throughout that entire set piece sequence at the end of Act 2 Chapter 2. ^_^
I actually have to wonder if People Can Fly just had Blum Ad Lib a good chunk of this dialogue, as it's really funny.

Blum is indeed awesome. The sheer amount of cracks and cursing he does cracks me up.

I just completed the game on the Normal Difficulty, and although the last few levels were pretty frickin' irritating with having to deal with the Echo Troopers and an absolutely insane number of enemies...I'm pretty happy with the game. I didn't get all the Skill shots, but I did get well over 100+ of them so there aren't many left to chase down. I did miss 3 of the swarms, though. I don't know how much time I'll dump into collecting the rest of the trophies (despite how well I played, I only have 38% of the trophies, leaving most to Anarchy and Echoes modes). That is some ridiculous sequel-baiting, though. -_-'
EDIT: Ok, I have all the Singleplayer Skill Shots now, as well as all the non-difficulty-related campaign trophies. I was only missing 5 skill shots, and most of the few hours I spent getting them were spent trying to get Nutcracker (shoot an enemy in the balls with the Sniper Rifle) and Gunslinger (Get 2 Shapshots or Fast Draws in a row). I just have to complete the game on the Hardest Difficulty to get the remaining Campaign trophies.

I'd love to ask him how much fun he had recording the dialog for that game, on a scale of 1-10. I can't imagine any scenario in which someone can say a line like "son of a dick!" without a shit-eating grin.

I heard great reviews on it. Been following the game for a while now, just haven't picked up a copy yet.

I finally finished the single player campaign on very hard difficulty this week on my X360. Took the time to also grab all the skillshots and campaign related achievements. Not sure if I'll spend much time on the other game modes, but I'll play Echoes a little at least. Need to get back to my backlog soon. :P
In any case, it's been a fun game and I definitely got my money's worth (all $33 of it). Definitely would buy the sequel.
