Game came out this week, anyone else playing? I've been plugging away at the single player since yesterday and, although during the first hour and a half or so I didn't think it was better than KZ2, I'm close to the end now and am enjoying it a hell of a lot more.
Haven't played any MP yet, but I really enjoyed MP in KZ2 so am expecting big things from this.

I'm off to work in an hour and i'll be back with it later tonight.
I enjoyed KZ2's single player and really dug it's multiplayer. So i plan to again play the campain once (or twice, depends) and have a good time, and have a blast with the awesome multi. Helps that i get the DLC free as pre-order bonus, more maps and trophies!

I picked up Killzone 3 a few weeks back, but was holding off on it until I'd gotten through Killzone 2's SP Campaign. Having done so (decent game overall), I'm now working my way through Killzone 3's SP Campaign. I'm at Chapter 5 (the Ice Stage), and so far I'm liking this game a lot more than its predecessor. The art direction is substantially better and more varied, the controls are much tighter now, melee combat is much more satisfying with the "Brutal Melees", and gunplay just feels much more responsive. The campaign is also much better designed. I especially enjoyed the stealth-centric Chapter 4 in the "jungle" (though I'm really curious how this area exists on a planet made out to be a barren wasteland in Killzone 2). It's also nice how you can carry 3 weapons at a time now: light, medium, and heavy. Story-wise, I'm finding the Helghast sideplot compelling, and the "trapped behind enemy lines" story is pretty serviceable.
So far, my only complaint is that while the levels have been fairly large, this campaign is still feeling rather on the short side. And I could do without quite so many rail shooter sections, though they are well-done.

Well, I've beaten the game on the lowest difficulty (which still isn't that easy in the final couple of levels), and overall I really enjoyed the Singleplayer campaign, though there are definitely too many rail-shooter sections (especially that last stage where the game decides to be an on-rails Wing Commander). The boss fight against the MAWRL was pretty awesome, though the stage it's attached to was a rather tedious callback to the Trench Warfare of Killzone 2. While trying to work through the game again on Elite, it becomes painfully obvious how utterly idiotic your teammate AI is. I've completed the first two stages on Elite, and I've lost track of how many times I've died because Rico won't heal me despite my being right f-ing NEXT to him.
Looking at the story, it was certainly enjoyable enough if threadbare. I'm starting to wonder if Malcolm McDowell has ever had a role where he wasn't a slimy, detestable scumbag, though. I'm not sure he'd know what to do if he found one. I wonder if a level got cut out at some point down the line, because the character of Jammer really comes out of nowhere; Rico follows her into nowhere; and then they reappear out of nowhere late in the game seemingly assuming that you have some connection to this character.
I tried to find a multiplayer game to try out the much-hyped Warzone mode, but the search failed to find any games after several minutes of searching. That's...odd.

That is odd. I remember I could easily find games in Killzone 2 years after it was released.
I actually have Killzone 2 and 3, IMO they're both pretty meh, although I haven't tried 3's multi yet. This thread kinda makes me wanna play some KZ 3 though.
I didn't like KZ as much as Halo due to the environments being kinda bland. Reminded me of Gears of War, which I didn't really enjoy.

I find that odd too. Killzone 3 is one of the games where i most easily find games at any time, any map or mode. Takes a couple seconds and i join a game. And i'm in Canada...
Just as it was with Killzone 2, matchmaking is very well done.
Now if you'd have said Crysis 2 i could agree...

I hear the trophies online are much easier to get this time around. KZ2's was hell, although still possible. I may even go for the platinum of Killzone 3 if I feel like it.

They are indeed MUCH easier. I easily and quickly got them all, except for a few of the DLC ones which i'll eventually get whitout problems. The only thing that might stop me from getting the Platinum is the Campaign Elite playthrough.

I could be wrong, but don't they make Killzone 2/3 harder on Elite by completely removing the reticle from the screen? I heard this on some gaming forum. If it's true, I may have to get sticky tac or something haha. Other than that, I've beaten lots of FPSs on the highest difficulty (Halo legendary, Cod 3 veteran, etc.) and while frustrating, still very fun and rewarding, so I'm probably going to play KZ 3 on elite as well.

How does it compare to Quake 4?

I've been in a bit of a shooter mood lately, so taking a break from Dead Island and Star Ocean 4 I've platinum-ed Resistance 3 and now I'm back to finishing-up this game. Yeah, the non-DLC online trophies are pretty easy, though I had a lot of trouble getting the one for killing an enemy with the Exoskeleton just because the map it's on is confusing to navigate and there are only 2 of the things on it. I still have to get the trophy for joining a squad online, though.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through the campaign on Elite mode, which despite having health regeneration is much more of a pain in the ass than Resistance 3's non-health regeneration Superhuman difficulty. The Helghast are bullet sponges even on Easy difficulty, so it takes practically all your ammo to take down a single target on Elite. The checkpoints are very unkind in the particularly difficult sections of the game. I'm not sure how I'm going to get through some later parts of the game I found infuriating even on Easy (mostly ones where you have to play through without an AI partner to revive you).
