Anime Draft 2011: Round 9 voting [Archive]

Time for another round of Pick Six. Once again, my first vote is going to be for my own character, the "White Rabbit Treasurer" Shiro Togi. I will be very surprised if Shiro gets more than one vote. Here is my Pick Six for this round in contention for my two other votes:

An easy round for me, but only because I only know three of these characters. I'm happy to be able to contribute votes, but voting "by default" feels a little cheap. :sd:

I first cut off Zero, as whilst he's the most interesting character in Vampire Knight, reviewing the anime was much more difficult than expected compared to the manga and kinda lessened the experience. So first vote was for Beato - she's PERFECTTTTOOOO! Second vote between Saori and Tohru, and whilst I could vote for the underdog...I just love Tohru. So yeah...

I wasn't much of a fan of Kana when I watched Saki during the anime club screenings, so she's the first to go. Mugen and Tohru are next on the depth chart, simply because I like the remaining characters more.

Italy's first to go - he's the least favourite out of the list. Former draft pick Haruhi is next.

Between the third vote, it was Son Goku versus Rena.

It pains me to say this, but little Goku was the last to be eliminated, despite the novelty factor. The young Goku days were always my favourite segment of Dragon Ball.

I do like Rena considerably more - she also comes from my second-favourite anime title - and I realized that I hadn't voted for SotS yet. So Rena claims the third vote.

Somewhat surprisingly - even though I said it was likely during the drafting process if I recall - Zero claimed vote #2. I really like his development in Vampire Knight, and he's a tragic character who needs a little sympathy. He's a big reason why I enjoy reading Vampire Knight. I'm sure he needs all the help he can get, too.

This feels like a much weaker group than some of the past ones. Only even 5 I could consider and some of these aren't that strong either.

As usual, first vote is for my character and in this round, that would be "White Rabbit Treasurer" Shiro Togi (and quite possibly the only vote for her). As for the other two votes, there was no question who I was going to vote for. The "Riceball in the Fruits Basket" Tohru Honda may not represent a fruit, but that's what makes her so great and thus had my vote all the way. As for the other vote, it goes to the one who makes the Host Club name a misnomer to pay off a debt. Unlike the more famous Haruhi, this one is the calm one in the string of silliness. Given everybody else in the round, it was a no brainer that "Host Club Hostess" Haruhi Fujioka gets the last vote for this round.

I was fixated on whether Jun would get drafted, and pretty much assumed there was no way the great Mugi-sama could be passed over 240 times. ;_; Also for some reason I thought I remembered voting for her in an earlier round, but apparently not. >_>

aww. :sweat: I too didn't realize until not too long ago that Mugi never got drafted. (I've only seen a couple episodes of K-On! so it didn't cross my mind for a while.)

It reminds me of the times after the drafting process when somebody lists the characters that shockingly do not get drafted in any particular year. In the top of my head, Rei AND Misato didn't get drafted, nor did Aoi from Ai Yori Aoshi.

But hey, it happens. Remember when Nagisa didn't get drafted two drafts ago? :P

Nagisa just started a year later (2009) than many of the other Clannad girls, who started being drafted in 2008. The three names mentioned in the first part missed out on being drafted for the first time this year and had been drafted for seven years in a row prior to this draft.:sweat:

They key disappointment is that ALL FOUR other main girls got drafted in 2008. That was also one I wasn't a player in, but I wanted to give her a vote since she was already getting to be one of my absolute favorites. One of the reasons I joined in next time was to draft Nagisa but amusingly Fudce actually beat me to that choice in the first round. :)

I do feel sorry for the fact she failed to get drafted, but I wasn't about to sacrifice Ritsu. Actually, even if I had lost Ritsu, I was kind of leaning towards drafting Ui as an alternate.

240 does sound like a huge number at first. Sadly, it becomes smaller when reduced to 12 per person and having hundreds of potential characters to choose from.

This round went as I thought it would go. Riceball ran away with it, cleaver and the cross-dressing host battled for second, and then there was the rest which includes too many unknowns for me to want to vote for. If there was any surprise for this round it is that Shiro actually got more than one vote and finished in a five-way tie for second from the bottom.

Beatrice did fairly well for her first time in the draft. I was expecting 2-4 less votes than what she received. I wasn't anticipating getting as many points as I did, though. Thank you to those who voted for the Golden Witch!

I thought Tohru would win, but I didn't think she'd slaughter the competition THIS badly. XD

Pretty happy with.. my uh 3rd round win? And very happy too see that Tohru is still a popular character on these boards. I did expect a strong showing from Tohru.. was thinking top 3 but felt she was a decent chance to win, did not expect her to win by that margin though.
