In Summary:
Infinite Stratos makes me want to punch things. It is not at all original, but there is potential for something fun here. Unfortunately, the writers are intent on ruining that fun. I am invested in seeing where this ends up at this point, but it is certainly trying my patience. Thumbs starting to point down.

Yeah, I have to agree totally with the review. The show setting has potential, but they seem intent on making it just another Harem by the books show. This latest episode really had me rolling my eyes a lot. I just hope it can be salvaged in the few episodes left.

Yeah, I guess it is the difference between what it wants to be and what I want it to be. As I said in the review, if I just stopped thinking about it and say back for the ride, I'd likely enjoy it more. I just know that I want more out of it than a generic harem-fest.

When it is done, I might have to watch it again all at once, accepting it for what it is and see where I am with it then.

My feelings are this. We already know the show is probably not going to amount to much in terms of the "serious story" department.

Thus for that reason, I'd rather have episodes like this one. Where the series focuses on just having fun and being relaxed.

It had swimsuit fanservice of Ran, therefore it can not be that bad! In all seriousness, I can't claim the episode is a masterpiece or anything like that.

However it's far from being terrible or anything like that. Perhaps I can say this because I've experienced far worse and such.

Or maybe it's because I don't have an inherent dislike for episodes of this type. Ok, it's possible all the swimsuits distracted me.

I don't mind little harem elements in shows that are not based on Harems like Toaru Majutsu no Index. BUT THIS I CAN'T Freakin stand. It's simple, WRITERS DON'T GIVE A SHIT. They are taking elements from other Harems and not doing anything new with it. I dropped this show. I now despise Harem focused shows just because of this show. i now dub thee "INFINITE SHITNESS"!

Nobody ever said I handle my frustration in a positive and constructive manner. :P

I guess I should note that I don't really hate IS (or even harem series), it is just that I feel it has set me up to expect something more than that. I thought the previous episode was actually well done in that it had a focus on the overarching plot and then added the wackiness here and there to spice it up. It struck a nice balance, and that's the sort of series IS feels like it should be to me. So when the majority of it is this throwaway stuff, then I get disappointed.

As others have suggest, maybe I just need to get over it and get on with it. I'll try that next week (when they will inevitably blow me away with plotting because I've dropped my pretensions. :)

It isn't so much that this is a harem show - I own and enjoy many a harem show. My beef is the harem stuff is so generic and by the book that has been done a million times with no originality, and the other parts of the story (if they actually are tying to tell one) seem to be ignored/left behind more and more as each episode passes. I'll watch the rest and then decide my ultimate opinion, but am disappointed in the direction it has been heading.
