Was the special ending, reflecting the manga's ending ever released on R1 (as an extra)?

I know it was included on the Japanese 10th memorial box, but not the box catalog # or if it ever was included on a Japanese single. Can anyone help?

...the special ending....

Possibly you mean Episode 95 '流浪の最果て', which was not broadcast?
If so, its Japanese DVD is:

The catalogue number is SVWB-1377.

This episode ends with Kenshin seeing Kaoru dozing on the porch surrounded by (to him) apparitions of his "family" group. Kaoru wakes, sees Kenshin looking at him & runs to him & they embrace. Cut to a few years later & their son Kenji, about 4, runs to him mum & dad. Is that how episode 95 ends?

From doing more research, it is extra footage added to the end of episode 95 only included in the memorial box. Did MB release the special ending version, or the standard episode 95?

The unaired Episode 95 was included on MB's final disc (and therefor also included in all of their collections).

The Memorial Box special ending was never released in R1, and I've never heard of it being attached to Episode 95 in Japan but I could easily be wrong.

Nor were any of the recap/technique/plushie specials ever released, though I believe there were rumors that they were licensed or planned to be released by MB back in the day which never came to fruition. I'm only going by memory here, but I don't think they were ever released on home video in Japan either (and again could be wrong about that).

At least a few of the rather pointless specials were released on VHS in Japan (I have a couple, though they're at my dad's house so I can't check the part numbers). I imagine they also made it to DVD though I didn't rebuy. I I think you're right about the rest though.

I have heard that the Memorial Box has a scene where they have a son. So what you watched may be that scene.
The catalogue number of the Memorial Box is SVWB-1027~1031.

The Memorial Box is sold at the Marketplace of Amazon Japan, but judging from what a note by Amazon Japan says, it is rather doubtful whether those sellers will ship the DVDs to a foreign country, though.

The Amazon Japan page says, 'a digest of 94 episodes', so scenes from Episode 95 may not be included in the Memorial Box.
