Mania Grade: A-
In Summary:
Tiger & Bunny was a show that if you just read the name, it'd be easy to write off completely thinking it's just a pure goofy fanservice thing. What we get instead is a really wonderfully layered take on the superhero concept that's familiar yet fresh in its own way. The corporatization of superheroes is something that's been touched on many times in Western comics and the Japanese take on it here is a lot of fun as Sunrise gives it a fully realized world with a number interesting characters that have a whole lot of potential as we start to know them, both with the mask and without. The opening episode hits a lot of key points and does it while handling the big action scenes, the small personal scenes and the simple quiet moments perfectly. With this being the first show of the new season that I've seen, it's already one that has me highly anticipating what's to come.
