Sixth Round of the draft. Pick up 3 Characters as Usual. All right then, sorry about the rushing, but I have an interest in doing some gaming for a couple of hours, but wanted the poll up for people as soon as possible. Now I just need to decide what I'll be playing. Obvious edit is obvious.

Definitely the easiest round yet for me. My votes were Tifa, Rise, and Teddie.

Ramza and Lenneth were easy votes, since they're both awesome, but for the remaining vote there's lots of characters I don't know... Tifa is the only other one but I still have barely played any of FFVII. I just went with the something strategy and pick a character I like for their design, and on that I went with Mint from Threads of Fate since I've always found her really cute. I suppose Cordelia von Feuerbach is close on that point too (since the Kishida Mel art I've seen is beautiful).

Another big field of candidates for me:

Tifa
Teddie
Wander (that's the protagonist, correct?)
Fran
Aya
Rise
Naoto
Simon

...and I think I just met Aliasse in VCII, but I haven't played the game in a while so I'm not sure. But if it's who I think it is, she'd probably have been an instavote. If I was more familiar with her. Alas, I do not feel qualified enough to give her a vote this round, which is unfortunate. Because I really want to vote for her.

Moving on.

Simon Belmont is an instavote. A commendable feat considering he is not a cute girl. :sd: Castlevania is one of my favorite franchises, going way back to the NES. Wander comes from an absolutely amazing game, but sadly he won't make the cut. This round is peppered with Persona characters, which makes tough competition for everyone else. Fran was pretty interesting, but won't make it due to the Persona crowd. Tifa may be the fan favorite from FFVII, but I was always more fond of Aerith myself. Teddie vs Rise vs Naoto... that's a tough one. I think I have to give my vote to Rise though, even though she's not my favorite from P4. She's fun in a ditzy kind of way. But wait, what's this? I think Aya has it in her to upset a Persona sweep of my final two votes. Aya it is.

You know what. Forget logic. Aliasse gets vote number three anyway. The cutscenes I've seen in VCII so far are reason enough to vote for her.

Persona got entirely shut out this round. I am honestly surprised.

I voted for all the Persona 4 characters in this round. :)

Teddie is unblockable, Lenneth was almost my round 2 choice instead of Silmeria, and Fran was my actual choice in this round, so not too hard!

Apologies to Aya and Ayane, though, would have been potential votes under different circumstances.

Another good-sized group of characters to make selections from.

I'm familiar with:

Tifa
Teddie
Lenneth (technically, I'm only familiar with her VP2 incarnation, but she's still a candidate)
Fran
Rise
Naoto
Ramza

Teddie gets my first vote because he's my draft pick, but of more importance is that he's a favorite of mine because he's awesome and made of win. Second vote goes to Rise, another Persona 4 character, because she's love, totally hot, and she's voiced by Laura Bailey (I totally should of made her the main's girlfriend). Last vote goes to Ramza, as I remember him being a pretty awesome character, both battle and character-wise. Apologies go to Naoto and Fran as I like them as well, but they get left out.

Played the Game
Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII)
Millenia (Grandia II)
Lenneth (Valkyrie Profile)
Cordelia von Feuerbach (Atelier Rorona)
Wander (Shadow of the Colossus)
Sheena Fujibayashi - Tales of Symphonia
Fran (Final Fantasy XII)
Mint (Threads of Fate)
Ayane (Dead or Alive 3)
Simon Belmont (Castlevania)
Ramza Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactic)

I will note in the case of Simon Belmont, it's more along the lines of Super Castlevania 4.

Ayane was one of the Dead or Alive games for the DC.

I only really played the demo for the game Wander comes from.

I only played part of Valkyrie Profile and sorry to say but Lenneth was part of the reason I stopped playing the game.

Votes
Mint (Threads of Fate)
Cordelia von Feuerbach (Atelier Rorona)
??????

Mint shall dominate the world, so voting for her is a good idea. Cordelia is awesome and an easy vote. The problem comes in the third vote.

Ramza is a possible candidate if I ever feel like actually voting for a male character. Which would be a first for me.

Both Millenia and Sheena are decent characters, but neither were exactly the favorites of their game. Been awhile since I played both games.

Err, I'll decide later.

Potential Votes
Tifa Lockhart
Teddie
Lenneth
Cordelia von Feuerbach
Aya Brea
Rise Kujikawa
Naoto Shirogane

Lenneth is my pick, so that's one. Rise is a goddess, so that's two. Vote three, as usual, is tough to choose. I like Naoto more then Teddie, but having Rise in this round outshines the both of them. Aya Brea would be (unfortunately) more of a nostalgic pick currently. I like Tifa more then Aerith, but cute and tsundere wins out over both of them. (Cordelia) And so it goes...

Votes
Lenneth
Rise Kujikawa
Cordelia von Feuerbach

If only I wasn't waiting for PE2 on PSN, I'd probably be reacquainted enough with Aya to vote for her. :apology smiley:

Tifa, Lenneth and Ramza get my votes, Ayane was close.... didn't get far enough in p4 to see Rise and Naoto...

Well, Teddie's a lock for me, he's just that cool. Naoto's also a great character, so that's another vote. I was considering the P4-trifecta, but I don't care for Risa as much, sorry. So I looked at the other picks, and had to choose between Simon Belmont and Aya Brea. Simon's coolness is spread too thin versus Aya, so she'll get my 3rd vote.

Have played the game
Millenia (Grandia II)
Simon Belmont (Castlevania)

Votes
Millenia (Grandia II)
Cordelia von Feuerbach (Atelier Rorona)
Kujikawa Rise (Persona 4)

1) Grandia II was one of the last console games I completed and while I can't remember many details, I remember thinking Millenia was awesome. Or so I recall.
2) Knew almost immediately I had to vote for her just based on the small draft board image. Beautiful character design. Kishida Mel wins Hitokiri a vote.
3) Caus' she's hot.

The Persona 4 trio was going to steal all my votes (three in one round? What the heck, coaches? :P), but then I noticed that Ayane was also on the list.

One of my two favourite Dead or Alive characters (I always switch between her and Kasumi).

Tifa Lockheart (FF7)
Millenia (Grandia II)
Cordelia von Feuerbach (Atelier Rorona)
Sheena Fujibayashi (Tales of Symphonia)
Fran (FF12)
Aya Brea (Parasite Eve)
Ramza Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactics)

Characters I Particularly Like
Cordelia von Feuerbach (Atelier Rorona)
Sheena Fujibayashi (Tales of Symphonia)
Fran (FF12)

Votes
Cordelia von Feuerbach (Atelier Rorona)

Uh, well, that was really easy. Cordelia is my character, and she's awesome, adorable, and so very tsundere for Rorona. Sheena's a fun character from one of my favorite RPGs (though I obviously preferred two of the other characters more), and Fran is basically the only good thing about FF12.

I barely remember Grandia II. I like FF7, but I just don't find myself that attached to any of the characters at this point. It's been over 10 years since I played a Parasite Eve game and while I enjoyed them, I only very moderately like Aya and its been way too long for her to have any chance here. I love FFT and even considered drafting a male character or two from that game (if I could bring myself to draft male characters at all), but Ramza wasn't one of them.

Yaaaaaay. You'd absolutely adore her too if you played the game. Or if an anime was made of it, though that will obviously never happen. Because Japan rarely even tries to make anime out of RPGs and they seem utterly incapable of making them even moderately good. :( "Doesn't completely suck" seems to be the best they're able to manage. Well, maybe the Tales anime did better, I haven't gotten around to watching them yet, though I plan to.... eventually.

Console RPGs with good anime adaptations... yeah I'm sort of drawing a blank too. The few I can think of were actually visual novels that felt like they could have been console RPGs (Utawarerumono, maybe Tears to Tiara sort of...)

I hadn't thought of them, since I don't really think of them in the same category, but they kind of count, as they are tactical RPGs of sorts. I mean, I can't see any good reason to not count them if Valkyria Chronicles counts as an RPG. I'm not completely clear on how Utawarerumono and TtT play and how much of it is battles versus more typical VN scenes, but it seems like the only distinctions between them and VC would be that they originated on PC, had sex scenes, and were made by VN companies rather than, well, non-visual novel companies. That last one probably factors into why they received at least decent adaptations, but I can't see any grounds to not count them as RPGs except that we (well, I, at least) kind of mentally place them in another category purely because of who made it. There is the "Console" part, though TtT was getting an all-ages console port around the time the anime came out.

True, the similarity probably seems more apparent for people who have played more recent RPGs - I haven't played them extensively since the SNES era (since I went N64 and good luck finding RPGs for that), which seems to be before they took on as much influence from anime and visual novel dialogue and character relationships and such.

Or at least that's the impression I get of JRPGs nowadays, but having not played anything from the past decade I don't have much to go on but screenshots.

My votes for Round 6:

Aya Brea (Parasite Eve)
Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII)
Simon Belmont (Castlevania)

Merliwolf

Wow 3 Persona 4 characters, who I bet I'd likely vote for at least 1...if I had actually started the game! Once again at least half the characters lose for games not played. Also disappoint on VC2 being psp only.

First Pass:
Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII)
Fran (Final Fantasy XII)
Aya Brea (Parasite Eve)
Mint (Threads of Fate)
Ayane (Dead or Alive 3)
Simon Belmont (Castlevania)
Ramza Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactics)

Aya is probably my favorite from this list, Parasite Eve still gives me good feelings.
Castlevania is one of the best side scrolling games of all time and Simon was pretty cool, so he gets in.
I'm gonna pick Ayane just cuz she's nummy, but she's no sweetie.

So, I decided to ditch one of the Persona 4 trio. Just had to vote for Ayane.

And it wound up being the thigh-highed goddess of Persona 4. She simply ranks the lowest of the three characters on the Persona 4 depth chart for me, even though she's a thigh-highed goddess.

This was a fairly tough round for me. While I could continue my run on FF votes, Sheena is just way too awesome for me to not vote for. That, and I am not really a big fan of Fran. Tifa was another automatic vote for being another awesome FF gal. As for the third vote, I had a really tough time deciding who it should go to. Out of the characters from games I played were Fran, Ramza, Simon, and Ayane, but I wasn't exactly head over heels with any of these guys. So I opted to step outside the box and go for someone from a game I haven't played. After seeing how much love Cordelia was getting, and that her character design is tempting me to play that game, that I decided to go with her. So this round was Tifa, Sheena, and Cordelia.

Just Simon and Ramza this time around, being that they're the only ones whose games I've played. And of course I liked both of them.

Would conceivably Vote For:

Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII)
Millenia (Grandia II)
Lenneth (Valkyrie Profile)
Cordelia von Feuerbach (Atelier Rorona)
Aliasse (Valkyria Chronicles II)
Fran (Final Fantasy XII)
Aya Brea (Parasite Eve)
Rise Kujikawa (Persona 4)

Blah blah, knocked out people who's games I haven't played, and anyone male

Top 5:

Millenia
Lenneth Valkyrie
Cordelia von Feuerbach
Fran
Rise Kujikawa

Millenia for being totally awesome, and way better than a certain alternate personality, Lenneth for being also awesome. Cordelia is love, and she's totally not here to help you out! Absolutely not! Fran for sexy Viera, and Rise because, well, Rise!

Votes:

Millenia
Cordelia von Feuerbach
Rise Kujikawa

Cordelia and Rise were givens, but the third slot was tough, but Millenia won it due to a nostalgia wave.

My only definite vote is Lenneth Valkyrie, who is pretty much my favorite female character ever.

No major attachment to, but voted for Sheena Fujibayash anyway.

Rise Kujikawa gets vote for character in a game I've yet to play but looks awesome anyway.

I was about to question that logic, but then realized I don't have a leg to stand on given that I have made a few votes based more on design than experience. As well as watching select clips like with the Black Heart vote.

I have to admit her design would make her tempting to vote for her for the heck of it. However I have more than enough viable choices to decide between this round that she loses out because of that.

Speaking of which, I better decide between the said choices soon.

Mint (Threads of Fate)
Cordelia von Feuerbach (Atelier Rorona)

In the end, I decided to choose Sheena over Millenia. If anyone is actually surprised by this, they do not know me very well. Yes, being a girl from the Tales series has its advantages.

Simon Belmont uses his whip to whip the competition! Ok, you think of a better joke.

Apparently of the three Persona 4 characters, Rise Kujikawa gained the most levels! Note, I can not be blamed or credited for this.

Congrats to Jaynin for the win. I was totally not expecting Simon to get so many votes. On the other hand, I was expecting Ramza to do better, but I guess he didn't do as well as I thought he would. Anyway, thank you beary* much to all of those who voted for Teddie. I'm happy to see him get some love.

Note: To deal with ties, I am following the method that I've seen used before. Let's say two people manage to tie for first place position. Both of them would get points based on that position.

The next person in line would get points based on third place position based on the fact that two people are ahead of them in terms of position. That's what it boils down to.

Position 1 is worth 16 points. Position 16 is worth 1 point. Now then for the scores as of round 2. Feel free to correct any errors you see.
