Well, no one seems to be talking about the crossover, which is technically Toriko's debut episode, so I'll start this off.

Having only seen the original Jump Festa OVA when it comes to Toriko I went into this only knowing a little about the title, but I really found this crossover with One Piece to be really fun. The Toriko cast looks to be a a nice an odd group that should be entertaining, and Toriko himself is just a great character. Poor Komatsu... Even when he's in life-threatening trouble and even when Nami is given focus on saving he's still ignored in favor of the food.

Ryotaro Okiayu's Toriko was just great and Paku Romi's Komatsu was also well-done, if sounding a little similar to her other young leads from other shows. And, just to hit home to old-school feel the title should have, the opening song performed by Akira Kushida is perfectly fitting. I'll definitely be checking this show out as often as possible.

Also seems that FUNimation scored TORIKO, which their other anime being ONE PIECE.

Episode 2 which is really the first episode was quite fun, nice to see it keeps that aspect from the manga. Only read the first volume so it won't be long until it's all new to me.

For me, this' also been one of my fav titles. And with FUNimation, I can picture Vic Mignogna as one of the actors. Muchless that he may try and sing either "Guts Guts" or the Satisfaction ending theme.

Episode 2:

Considered watching the crossover, but I've never seen an episode of One Piece in my life and 47 minutes is just way too long right now.

This episode was... okay. Toriko himself is, surprisingly, not bad. I mostly credit the seiyuu choice for that. A goofier voice would have killed it. I doubt I could take much of Komatsu though. Also not sure how this would hold up for me over a long period of time if it stays episodic. It's over-the-top, but given the premise it's supposed to be, so that's not a problem in and of itself. It's just not my sort of thing I suppose. I could possibly try to hang with it until more characters are introduced but there's really just too much airing this season for me to keep up as it is.

Well, having said that. It's still a cool series. Dispite that when he says "knife" that the Garara Gator doesn't get cut up. Unlike Viz' version of the title, where he literally dices up the creature.
