Got this in today and...its pretty awesome

The old normal/strong attack combos are back, and there are some new features, such as swapping weapons on the fly and EX attacks.

Even if you are a DW veteran, I recommend checking out the tutorial, since there's a few new features, which aren't necessarily obvious.

Anyway, I decided to try out the Story Mode, starting with Wei. So far each scenario has had you controlling a different general. First it was Xiahou Dun, then Cao Cao (in a really awesome escape event) then Xiahou Yuan and I just finshed a mission with Dian Wei, where you accompany Cao Cao through the battlefield as his bodyguard, and the scenario is topped off with a duel against Xu Zhu, who is the focus of the scenario I'm about to start.

All the maps are new (the Yellow Turban Rebellion sequence was awesome), and just in general it feels incredibly polished.

Your general has two weapons at a time, and you swap between them with R1. Swapping weapons initiates a clearing attack, which you can use at the end of a normal combo chain. Each general also has a weapon they specialize in, and with which they get a special EX attack which is activated by hitting Triangle and holding after you finish a specific combo chain. They act as somewhat less powerful, but free to use, Musou attacks.

Awesome and good to know that Koei fixed up their mistake that was DW6.

Got mine preorder, but our release won't come out till next week.

Did you download that free DLC that includes JP audio?

I'm curious as to how it's implemented; and how the cast sounds.

This campaign should be called "Cao Cao, Total Badass"

Anyway, I'm impressed by how long this is. I'm getting a much better feel for the flow of events than with the usual DW game.

And there are three other entire story modes!

While the DW vet in me really wanted the game the week it came out, I wouldn't be able to play it until I finish up university for the semester & I'm not too concerned with stock for DW7.

It's good to hear some positive things about the game, though. I haven't played since DW4. Never got around to DW5 (was still beating DW4 100% when it was out - it took two years!) and the negative reviews scared me off of DW6.

Finished the Wei story mode. The last mission is the battle of Fan Castle where (do I really need to spoiler this?) Xiahou Dun kills Guan Yu. After that, Cao Cao dies in his sleep and Cao Pi crowns himself emperor. The very last shot of the cinematic is of Sima Yi looking VERY SUSPICIOUS

Question: How is the music in this game? The last Dynasty Warriors I played (Can't remember which one it was) was on PS2 and it had rock music. I'll probably pick this up sooner or later since I like hack and slash games.

...also is there sexy ninja women? >_>

*Cough*

No Wu Zhang Plains for Wei this time around? Or are they making that one a Shu versus Jin (I don't really think I need to tag that but whatever) scanario?

I guess they opted to end it with Cao Cao's death. Interesting.

Also, I just took a look at the roster again.

- Kinda dismayed that they took an existing character in Peng De out (was there any real point?). Not so much for Zuo Ci since he seems more of a mystical being, but it would've been fun to use him regardless, from what I've heard.
- Hurrah for more former NPCs having their own sprites this time around. Jia Xu and Ding Feng were overdue, though I didn't think Guan Suo would get one. Can't think of any other NPC that should get one, though. A bunch of seemingly insignificant Wei NPCs also get their own unique look, but for other reasons. Very interesting.

Dynasty Warriors has always had a hard rock soundtrack.

*Cough*

I wouldn't call them "ninjas" but there are a number of sexy female characters.

Speaking of which, I think I'm going to try out Conquest using Sun Shang Xiang next.

Oh Koihime, you've done terrible things to my ability to take this story seriously.

I loled when I talked to a random peasant and he mentioned that Liu Bei and Gongsun Zan were old school buddies.

Actually, basically anything involving Gongsun Zan is much funnier now thanks to Koihime.

I might have to check this one out. After all I do love Zhen Ji. She looks a little trampy, but gotta love a woman in heels.

Funny things to do while playing the Shu campaign.

Imagine Zhao Yun wearing a Kouchou Kamen mask

So yeah, Pang Tong was all sorts of awesome and hilarious in his mission the Shu campaign (and then he dies! ;_;) so I go and look up his Japanese name, just to see if I recognized it.

...he's Houtou.

I laughed really hard.

Eargh. I'm very annoyed that Yue Ying was running around in the last few Shu missions, but the game makes me use fucking Jiang Wei. Who's LAAAAAAAAME.

Bah, and the end of the Shu story sucks.

How are the Jin Dynasty characters?

I dunno, I haven't gotten to them yet. Need to do the Wu campaign first.

Though right now I'm playing around in Conquest with Xing Cai.

Finished the Wu and Jin campaigns.

Wu had way too many Sun Quan missions (and no Lian Shi missions! WTF! And she was your "sidekick" character for like a third of them!), but was pretty good overall.

Jin was pretty epic, but too many Sima Zhao stages. Only one stage with Guo Hai, one with Wang Yuanji and two with Zhong Hui. Annoying.

But still, pretty good stuff all in all.

Playing this hardcore at the moment since the PSN network is down.

So far, Koei's plan for creating Wang Yuanji worked, as she's now a favourite character of mine. Pity her primary weapon is the throwing knives. I have no beef with it, but it just doesn't stop charging generals like the good sword.

Speaking of which Xiahou Ba is freaking powerful with that Great Sword of his. Way more powerful and useful than Guan Pi.

So far unlocked all the weapon hexes, and challenges and only have to finish a few more character hexes in Conquest mode. I'm a sucker for this game so I'm planning to grind like mad and get a Platinum for this game. Thankfully I don't have to beat any of the stage in Chaos mode so this game is rather easy (not like Warriors Orochi Z).

I just bought it. I bought the 360 version though since PSN is down (Paranoid about losing my trophies >_>).
It's awesome. I am playing the first campaign. I actually bought the DW: Gundam games along with this one and am playing them both ATM. It's kinda hard to rotate between the two though since Gundam's camera is different (Inverted) with no way to change it in the options. :/ I'm also playing Samurai warriors 2 Empires on 360 as well (Never played a SW game before) and I like it as well. The voice acting is very horrible which adds unintentional humor to the game.
I like DW 7 a bit better than the other two. The only Gundam series I've seen is Wing and a bit of Seed (Huge fan of both of those) and since the game is mostly around UC, it's not as good of an experience for me. The Gundam one is still awesome though.

And nearly three months later, Platinum Get!

Just in time for Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3. *sigh*
