Yumekui Merry is an unusual show. It has a bizarre mix of the ordinary and the surreal with its dreamscapes and ordinary life. It is well animated, has some good fight scenes, some interesting, fun, cute characters and some good story ideas. However, its storytelling is chaotic and after a while it became clear to me that the show didn’t know what it wanted to do and had trouble building a narrative. There were a lot of mystery elements in the show that were not well handled. So I dropped the show when I became convinced that it would never be able to sort out its story telling problems.
It is difficult to talk about Level E without spoilers. It has a Men in Black feel with reference to a lot of 50’s and 80’s views about aliens among us. The animation complements it nicely and it has good production values. The first 3 episodes are some excellent storytelling and if Level E was a 3 episode OVA I would rate it 5 stars. However, after the first 3 episodes the show is a lot less compelling. While no episode is a total loss as the series went on it struggled to provide enough entertainment to justify a 22 minute episode. There are lots of reasons for that but I think the main reason was that the main character needed another strong personality challenging him to make the show work and that stopped after episode 3.
Oniichan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!! is a poorly animated incest harem comedy that is less ecchi than KissxSis with plenty of panty shots, nosebleeds and silly ecchi situations with one-dimensional characters. I don’t think you need to know any more than that. You either like that or you don’t because this show isn’t good or bad enough to make anyone change their minds about this stuff.
