Wow, it's been a while since I've seen something that's felt quite so incompetently directed.

I'm having a little trouble figuring out precisely what's the problem. It almost feels like they'd only actually written half an episodes worth of dialogue and had to pad out the running length out purely through the use animation. As a result, the timing of everything just felt completely off throughout, particularly in regards to the humour. Every single gag fell flat for me, and I'm not convinced it's because of what they actually were. On paper, some of that stuff would at least sound, if not original, than at least amusing. The director here just doesn't seem to understand how to time a joke.

Or time anything. Man, some of the slow-motion usage just dragged.

Oh, well, I only really watched the first episode out of curiosity, since I wasn't really planning on watching this anyway (It's Not My Thing). I really didn't expect to be saying that the material seems way better than the treatment it received...

That was pleasantly amusing, even if it's far away from the best show of the season. I laughed out loud multiple times throughout the show, so I guess people's mileage may vary on the humor. Lotte is cute (and her character design is (*´Д`)ハァハァ), but whether her dynamic with Naoya works won't be seen until the 2nd episode.

- The truly disturbing thing about this show is that the massive naked man in the sauna has the same VA as the principal in Hidamari Sketch.
- I don't quite understand why Lotte has to personally extract the life-seed, but...I guess I shouldn't think too deeply about it.
- I like how, even if such a thing won't occur in the show with Lotte, Judit mentions that her mother was "sucking men of their life-seed" at her age.
- I think their idea of humans is tainted by something from the Netherlands.
- The cosmology of this series is surprisingly well in line with actual Norse mythology, what with a Manheim, Helheimr, and...I guess Lotte's world would be like Álfheimr or something.
- Naoya is awfully feminine, but I guess that's all for the better in winning over Lotte's heart.

-That's a neat looking tree.
-There is too much unwanted fanservice in this.

Well that was a lot of nothing. This show is like a very weird Disgaea fan fiction. It managed to be as creepy as the original description sounded, unlike the bit of the manga I glanced at.

So we have Kugimiya Rie starring as a 10-year old succubus. Well, that explains all the people flipping the fuck out in the pre-season thread. But as for me, I love succubi, I <3 Kugimiya Rie and I'm not exactly adverse to loli. So this is an awesome premise as far as I'm concerned. Also, I can apparently now recognize a Kugimiya character just by the sound of her breathing, as I figured out it was Kugimiya before she ever actually said a line, and I had no idea who was in this show before I started.

Astarotte is a lot of fun. This show should be a keeper just for her, unlike the last show starring Kugimiya, which ended up mostly being a dud, particularly Kugimiya's character. Judit is also pretty fun, especially once she reached the human world. And I'm expecting good things from Asuha. I liked how she was sucking on Lotte's tail in the eyecatch. Also, I'm not convinced she was wearing any underwear when she was sitting on Judits face...

The male lead.... had like two lines in the entire episode, so the jury's out on him. But focusing almost entirely on the girl with the guy barely appearing at all is a fantastic way to start out a show like this.

Anyway, very nice start. Definitely one of the better shows I've seen this season, though its certainly not going to be a top-tier one.

I had no idea that Kugimiya was in the show (I never watched any preview trailers). Just from the premise and the cute character designs (I really like Astarotte's hair - has twintails, but not full on twintails), I had to check it out. I was very excited to hear her voice when watching the show.

The episode was cute and very bright and colorful. Definitely a lot better than Dragon Crisis.

Lotte's outfit is pretty cute.
Lotte's mother was already blowing men at 10?
Lotte hates men? Don't worry, you have harem of girls already.
Ah, so the blue haired loli is the main dude's little sister.
500,000 and blow jobs included? I'm there.

Oh, now I realize why I wasn't finding much fanart on Pixiv...the tag "ロッテのおもちゃ" (without exclamation) is much more widely used than "ロッテのおもちゃ!" (with exclamation).

Also, I'm not convinced she was wearing any underwear when she was sitting on Judits face...

I thought the same thing... Because, if she was, the animators would throw in a panty shot, right?

Yeah, I thought so too. I love the designs on the girls and the CGI on the tree and all that happened inside was very well done. I too think this show is one of the better, so far....(hopeing the male lead doesn't wimp out). Oh, and I didn't think she was wearing any undies either

Yeah for one Naoya looks 14 instead of +20. The manga started out odd, but more innocently cute. The anime version is blatantly loli fanservice and paced really weird. Trying to drag out the first chapter into two episodes somehow.

Actually, I think if some people read the first chapter, they'd accuse it of being loli fanservice as well. I guess it depends on the person in question and what they count.

In any case, hopefully the second episode will clear up what should have already been established in the first episode...

Hmmm. I'm generally a fan of Kugimiya tsundere characters- and not wholly averse to them being lolils (because, let's face it- more often than not they are...). But, I have to say I find myself agreeing with the "bad Disgaea fanfic" sentiment... it just really didn't click with me. I'd likely enjoy it if I continue watching it, but there's so much this season (including another staring Kugimiya that I have high hopes for) that it doesn't stand much chance.

And count me in the group who thought 'no-pan' on the imouto crotch-face-plant...

We were seeing way too much of her ass-cheek for her to be wearing panties. If she was wearing panties, we would have seen some and less skin. Unless she's wearing a thong or something similar. But if she was wearing the kind of panties a girl that age *should* be wearing, we should have seen some of it instead of pure ass-cheek.

Wait, did they actually call her the little sister? In any case, I'm getting the impression the episode made a few changes.

They didn't say anything to indicate, it just seemed like the logical relationship between them. However, I've since discovered (since I like to read the ANN preview guides for some reason [and surprisingly, none of them ripped this show apart; even Zac's review just basically said "You'll know whether or not you'll like this based on a one line plot synopsis" and didn't say anything at all insulting] and they sometimes feel the need to mention things that aren't actually mentioned in the episode. So apparently she's actually supposed to be his daughter. Since he mentioned a job interview, I guess that would be a good indication that he's probably over 20 but that doesn't really say anything about what their relationship is supposed to be. But even so, if he's 23 (the age I saw mentioned) and his daughter is 10 like Lotte.... that mean he fathered her at age 13.

Episode 1:

- Huh. How did I miss the fact that Kugimiya would be playing Lotte? But of course she is!
- You know, Lotte, if you hate men there's another option. ::hint hint::
- Who the heck thought this subtitle font was a good idea? Why not just use the normal CR subs? This is way too big and looks really bad in italic.
- Lotte is so cute~

- Lotte hates men + scenes of Lotte and the guy's sister (I assume) in that OP + the eyecatch should = something awesome, but sadly we know it's impossible. ;_;
- Ah yeah, its his sister. And I don't think she wears panties. Also, TAMURA YUKARI! Come on, I want my Yukarin x Kugyuu. Yukarin is really getting her Mei voice on here.
- Wait, job interview? How old is he? o_O Maybe it's not his sister...

Huh that felt really short. Well, that was okay. But unless it completely shocks everyone and goes Lotte x Imouto, which it wont, there's a chance I'll end up dropping it for lack of time. About to go watch ep two though, we'll see how that does.

Episode 2:

- Cmon, seriously, just look at this OP! It's ALL Lotte x Asuha other than a little blushing at the end. Sigh, if only, if only...
- Oh god Asuha is awesome. She's selling her brother (dad?) off.
- Yeah, definitely no underwear. :sd:
- Lotte's backstory isn't half bad.

- I wasn't expecting the milk actually came from a store, not with Effie around. :sd:
- Okay, nevermind, it does come to that eventually. >_>

Wow, that was really sweet. And proof that people freaking the fuck out over "OMG LOLI" were just getting caught up in the premise, which clearly has very little to do with the actual show so far. What a complete and utter (non-)shocker! People never hastily pre-judge anime! ::rolls eyes::

I really liked this episode and look forward to watching more now. It looks like it could appeal in the same way Kodomo no Jikan does, to an extent. A bit of a problem child with no biological parents meets an older guy who manages to give her emotional support - although Rin and Lotte's approaches are in some ways diametrically opposed.

Next time, Asuha! YAAAY!

I was expecting this episode to be more comedic, but instead it's mostly heartwarming moments set to a mild piano soundtrack. Quite enjoyable, though; I'm really starting to care about the characters.

The one part where they completely dropped the ball, though, was not having Naoya hear the sound of Effie's milking.

- It feels like Effie got that milk checklist from Dwarf Fortress or something.
- Naoya is an awesome sewer. It's rather impressive to make something so complicated without any pattern in such a short amount of time. And that makes him even more effeminate.
- I seriously doubt Asuha can out-cute Astarrote.

Wow, that was really sweet.

I think the second episode got me more interested in the series. Frankly, I wasn't freaking out over any loli content or the premise or such: I was just bored with the first episode. This episode was a good bit more interesting though, and yeah, kind of sweet. Still not really a favorite yet but I'm decently curious to watch more.

I'm liking the direction the anime is taking this story as its actually turning out to be quite sweet. The service from the manga has been toned down in exchange for more nuanced character interaction. The Yukari Tamura and Rie Kugimiya combination is also overwhelmingly amazing and I can't wait to see when Lote and Asuha meet.

Wow, that was really sweet.

Yup, probably the best way to describe the episode.

Naoya is a kind hearted soul and pretty diligent and dedicated. I like that he wants to make Lotte happy and comfortable. Just like Judit, I was surprised that he acclimated to the situation very quickly.

So, Naoya met Lotte for the first time, there was a super quick flashback. Yea...why am I not surprised if they met in the past.

No panties confirmed. Asuha negotiating Naoya's pay with Judit was incredibly cute. Asuha pretty much disappeared after the first few minutes, but here's hoping for a lot of her in future episodes. I have a feeling I'll get my wish, as I strongly suspect she'll become Lotte's friend and their friendship will be a significant element of the show.

The Naoya/Lotte stuff was really, really cute. He's not exactly the most amazing male lead ever, but he also avoids all of the pitfalls. So far, at least. I'm really happy with how things played out with him here.

The colors on this show are amazing! Love Effie's cowbell :beatingheart:. As soon as milk was mentioned I knew what was coming . Lotte and Asuha meeting will overdose the cute factor, (in a good way!). Yeah, no panties, (thought I was seeing things that first episode). I may get a cavity from all the sweetness, but I'm loving it!! Looking forward to the next episode.

-Meanwhile on the pedophilia channel... Actually have they said how old Lotte is? We could just assume she's a slowly aging 20 year old Succubus. Yeah that creeps me out less.
-*drools at Effie* Um what was I saying? Oh yeah, milk maids are the best.
-An elf penis is a frightening thing.
-"Voluptuous Milk."
-AHAHAHAHAH! Good timing Asuha. But also unfortunate timing.
-SON OF A! Did we really need to see her panties in that pan? *sigh* Fan service is a double edged sword.
-Naoya is an amazing seamstress.
-So Lotte is a spoiled brat and Naoya is Richard Pryor in this situation.

That was better. Sweeter generally more innocent. But still managed to show off Lotte's panties. I'll push this show to the back burner. I'm watching too many shows this season so far. I'll get back to this maybe for mini marathons. Maybe.

Effie needed more screen time.

sweet and much like komodo no jikan looks like it has a chance to become a sweet and interesting character study that rises above loli fan service but I don't know...still the idea of a ten year old VERY human looking thing extracting "life seed" from a human male (shouldn't we really just go ahead and use the real name for it here I mean come on) is kind of icky. They are not going to show her fellating anyone. This isn't porn.

Plus, I believe this episode revealed that she can get what she needs just by kissing, at least up until a certain age. Which would mean that "Life Seed" isn't actually semen, but rather something that's just contained in semen. I would assume that semen is the only way to get it in high, heavily concentrated amounts, but that tiny amounts can be obtained other ways, such as kissing, and that's sufficient for young succubi. Though I could just have misread or misinterpreted a line.

I take it you don't know a lot about television regulations. When have you *ever* seen that happen in a TV anime? You're worrying about nothing. This is just another cutesy fanservicey comedy, not pornography, and it's not going to go farther than other shows - nor nearly as far as some.

The premise is just shock value material, something to get attention. Not indicative of the actual material of the show. See B Gata H Kei for another example that got people up in arms until it turned out to be nothing whatsoever like the premise.

I actually watched all of the first season of komodo no jikan and though it was a little to much at times it was definitely worth watching and had some very interesting characters and character development. Last episode was sweet, but this episode is ultra extreme sweetness. I'm really liking Asuha's introduction. I expected her to be cute, but I'm liking her much beyond that. I didn't really like the first episode that much but this episode seemed like a vast improvement. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think I've seen another anime episode in a while that me feel like I was about to die from moe/cute-ness overload. My impression of this show so far is that it's basically Hayate the Combat Butler with demons. The two main leads are almost carbon copies of Nagi and Hayate. For me, that is a good thing though.

Then we get lots and lots of Asuha befriending Astarotte and just generally being a bundle of energy and awesomeness. And most importantly, she kisses Astarotte by the end of the episode. Oh, and she really, really likes going nopan.

Well, presumably she would be going no-pan in her normal and/or school outfit, not the one that would leave her completely exposed. Even Asuha wouldn't be going no-pan if the panties were the only thing covering her down there. ... Probably. Not that I would complain if either of them did, except for the censorship it would require me to put up with.

This is the start of the episode 4 subthread (the one reply above was under episode 3 instead).

Anyway, I think this show is really starting to grip me with its sweetness. It's quite interesting how quickly the show changed for me after the vapid first episode.

I think I like Astarotte's mom so far. I expected she would have a sexy personality to go with her sexy looks, but it actually seems the personality is more on the adorable side like her daughter. The scenes with them missing seeing each other had me feeling sad.

all I said is it would be surprising..which I think you could have figured out given the age...but ok will refrain from doing that again.

Getting told of that kind of ruined the surprise for me this episode. As far as "throwing us for a loop", how else can we take that other than to think some main characters may be unexpectedly related? That's how I took it, and what (seemingly) ended up being the case. It's why I would rather not be fed any information, no matter how vague, by someone who knows stuff ahead of the anime. It's just a minor pet peeve (I don't care too much), but please keep it in mind.

Still quite interested in the seeming twist at the end regardless, though. I'm curious what details we will find out about it.

well I had a very different reaction to this episode....was extremely cute and sad up until the very end. I was REALLY hoping this was not the way they were going to go especially since we had been told all ready that sucubbi only gave birth to sucubbi....it may be a little bit to gross for me now....I mean the graduate was one thing this is entirely something else.

I will give it a couple more episodes but if it gets much more gross and ridiculous than this I will be dropping it.

Only five gratuitous panty shots this episode though so that is a good thing.

Poor Lotte's mom...so, busy that she can't even get a small chance to see her daughter. Well, technically, she did see her daughter...her other daughter.

Lotte and Asuha being related - that was a little unexpected. With Judet seeing the hair piece Asuha had, I thought it might have been another women in the Ygvarland. Whatever..go Naoya! Wait...so does that mean he's technically part of her harem and now is going to be part of Lotte's harem? Bizarre harem triangle!

So, it looks like the written language of Ygvarland on the invitation card looks to be Icelandic or possibly Faroese since two of the characters are only used in those languages assuming modern era. Google translate give a decent translation of the phrase assuming Icelandic, but I wonder if any one here is fluent enough in either language to see if it is actually grammatically correct.

So apparently Asuha and Lotte are half-sisters. I wasn't expecting the identity of Asuha's mother to be revealed so soon. Well, up until she commented on that familiar smell; I had a pretty good idea of where things were going from there. The explanation for this should be interesting.

Anyway, I loved how the stuff with Lotte and her mother played out, as well as the nice little surprise at the end. On that note, Asuha, neither Lotte nor you should have to worry your boobs being too small when you grow up. You both clearly come from a blessed genepool in that area. (Yes, yes, I know, genetic roulette means one or both of them may not inherit that "blessing" from their mother.)

Also, I love how the show makes sure to show off Lotte in her pajamas at least once an episode.

Oh, something important to consider: Which one is Onee-chan? I'm guessing Asuha. If only because I think it would be much cuter that way.

Yeah, this episode made it clear that the Queen cares a lot about her daughter and its her duties that have prevented her from spending more time with Lotte rather than the Queen outright neglecting her. It makes the Queen a much more sympathetic character.

I'm not sure how the time frame of Asuha and Astarotte's birth adds up if they are half sisters. A really short time period between pregnancies, I guess. I'm also hoping that Asuha is the older sister though as she's illegitimate, Lotte doesn't have to worry about her claim to the throne. It will none-the-less make future interactions between Naoya, Lotte, and the Queen much more awkward.

The other thing I thought, since the show is rooted in Norse myth as you mentioned, is that they are using old Norse which would be more generic and using the latin alphabet instead of runes. But, Icelandic is still pretty close to old Norse out of the modern Scandinavian languages which is why I put "assuming modern era" in my post.

THIS, is how you do an episode of a show like this. INCREDIBLY sweet, made me smile and pine at the same time, and only one unnecessary panty shot. Now we can move into the MUCH less creepy father figure mode and away from where we are before.

I laughed out loud at the line "its not like you die after doing it one time" does Ashua know more than she lets on? She was obviously told her mother was the queen and told not to tell lotte, but does she know about the withdraw of life force (and can if you draw to much you kill the other person?)...and then of course comes the question of does she have to do it to, to survive?

Such questions of course miss the point of what is becoming a very sweet very nice little show. Well done!

This show is really doing a fantastic job taking the basic story from the manga and turning it into something much more compelling. Age issues aside, I enjoyed how Naoya was able to talk things out with the Queen and they didn't hide the truth from Asuha. They still really need to let Lotte in on it as others have mentioned, but I guess the Queen did have a sympathetic enough reason for keeping Asuha hidden. I'm also really liking how Naoya is being slotted into a fatherly role for Lotte. This series is turning out to be a surprisingly sweet one.

That was really nice. Even though the Queen is a deadbeat parent in a way, Naoya wasn't angry at her...I sort of liked that. It was sweet. Then again Naoya is an awesome, kind, hardworking dad.

The Queen - she really cares for her children even though it looks like she doesn't. I'm glad the episode clears things up - I like the fact the show is full of wonderful people...unless things drastically change in the next few episodes.

When the guard was looking at the notice from the Queens, I decided to run the words through google translate assuming Icelandic again, and, things, for the most part, actually made sense - when machine translated...who knows if it is grammatically correct.

-Wait so. Asuha is a year old or younger than Lotte or her fraternal twin? *scratch head* Or succubus pregnancy is super fast.

Succubus pregnancy probably is really fast - then again, it's a demon, so who really knows the gestation period of such a creature. I presume Asuha is probably older than Lotte.

Well if someone for once told the truth instead of evading the situation, then all anime plots would collapse in on themselves like a black hole. But yeah, someone should tell her next episode. So we can get back to the sweet storyline and not rely on cliches to write scripts.

More or less. I think there were a few questionable choices made in regards to the first episode, but I can't think of much what's happened since then in terms of adaptation which hasn't been working out for the better.

As for the show, I think it's generally doing a far better job of representing itself when it's not trying to be a comedy. I'm alright with what it's been the last couple of weeks, but I'm kind of dreading the prospect of them possibly deciding to pad for time at some point later on...

As Asuha is half Succubus herself, I wonder if she'll be able to open the gateway to the human world now that she's been in the magic world for a while? If the laws of fiction apply, she should have all the benefits of being being a succubus and a human with none of the drawbacks.

The only fan-service that bothers me in the slightest in this show is the tendency of Asuha to not wear panties. Even though it's more of a mental image more than a visual one, I feel dirtier thinking about that rather than the minor panty shots, which I approve of and actually think is cute. At least the show doesn't have a tendency to have the camera zoom up to character's crotches, which is also something I don't really like, regardless of the age of the character. Also, the cuteness that you mentioned is one of the main reasons this show so far is my favorite of the season.

- Gah... this is so sweet. And adorable. Lotte is a great character - she already strikes a brilliant balance with the tsuntsun, since she knows when she's gone overboard and is capable of understanding others' circumstances. Great conversation with Asuha here.

Seriously, if it keeps at this level or better it could jump all the way to 4th for this season. Damn. That said, I'm wary about the ending. And before anyone goes "omg he was only 13!", well, hell, did you see what she looked like? Any straight 13 year old male would hit that, especially if he were being all succubi-seduced.
- But man, this is awesome. Very nice scene here as Naoya confronts the Lotte's (and Asuha's!) mom... I feel for the guy.
- Wow, not the reaction I expected from mama. She and Lotte are definitely related...

- ...Oh. Riiight. It hadn't really sunk in how awkward this is. Lotte has, as a member of her harem, her half-sister's father. That's, uh, kind of weird. :sd:
- Family tree! I love Asuha's thumbs up. And Lotte's father is... oh right they said he died. Probably for the best, we don't need that complication. And it also means Naoya and Mercelida could hook up again.
- You know, Asuha is taking this remarkably in stride... but that's her personality.
- Oooooh, good, good. Naoya is telling Asuha about the situation. I was worried they'd try to hide it from her.

- Hahaha, what. So this is how they're going to see Mercelida? :sd: Asuha is a lovely maid. <3
- XD Asuha blushing as her father is violated.
- Awwwwwwww ;_;! Naoya and Asuha thanking Mercelida. God damn this is adorable.

- That was your request? Naoya you are a genius. Mercelida-senseiiiiii!!!!
- Wait why is she writing in Japanese? :sd:
- Oh my god this is so so so so so sweet.
- Fucking love Mercelida. And so happy to see her reconciling with Lotte. <3

I absolutely adore this show. Rather surprised, though - we've resolved almost everything in five episodes.

Mercelida and Naoya are reconciled.
Lotte and Mercelida are reconciled.
Asuha knows about her mother.
Lotte's dad is dead so he can't interfere.
It seems like they can travel freely between worlds.
Nobody left in the OP looks particularly evil, though the baddie isn't necessarily in it.

The main thing, then, is how Lotte will react when she finds out that her mother is also Asuha's mother. Not well, I would assume. Especially if Mercelida and Naoya get close again, and Lotte feels like she's been displaced by Asuha. That or some basic conflict surrounding anti-human factions reacting to Naoya.

But whatever comes, what's gone so far has been easily among the best episodes of the season.

- It worked! And now we meet that girl from the OP. It's Saitou Chiwa!
- Ini-chan! So, uh, did Naoya already forget that Asuha is part succubus? She was able to open the gate before and should be able to now. They don't need to wait for Lotte.
- Another Asuha kiss!

- Hmm. Photo album. Nothing good ever comes of those. She's going to find out about Asuha isn't she?

Uh oh, they can't open the gate! Oh no! ... ...Hey, Asuha. she's right there. Just ask her.

I still enjoy steins gate more but this is much cuter than it has any right to be given the premise. I am not sure where they will go form here not much more plot they can do without introducing something else...but yes, having your half sisters father in your harem....thankfully the whole harem part of this seems to have gone away..she doesn't spend the night with him and isn't going to anytime soon it looks like (and it isn't like HE will want to now) so we have gotten away from the gross and can just revel in the cute. Overall a good thing.

Gah, so much Lotte cuteness when Naoya goes to take her back from his house. Especially right before the kiss.

Elika the vampire girl returns! Unsurprisingly, Elika is actually a good girl and likes Lotte. She's in this episode pretty much entirely because she wanted to spend some time with her, her teasing of Lotte is pretty light, and is incredibly quick to help Lotte when it became apparent that the haunted house affected her a lot more than Elika was attending.

Also, Asuha wastes little time starting to work on adding Elika to her harem. Well, actually, Asuha didn't even have to really put any work into it, it just kind of happened.

And Naoya.... Asuha doesn't "forget" to wear panties.

Way too much of Sigurd, not nearly enough Helga. Also Mercelida was very blatantly flirting with Helga in that opening scene. Helga...I hope you are up for what she probably sees as "improving relations"

Probably the weakest episode, but not terrible.

Sigurd was rather annoying in the first half, though he wasn't so bad towards the end, and Lotte was pretty cute in that scene. At least he has an amusing watchdog Dora, and his sister Helga is ridiculously hot. I want more of her so much.

I also liked how Asuha was acting as Lotte's guard. She'll kick you in the balls if you get to close to Lotte, and I get the impression its not the first time she's used that method of defending Lotte from unwanted guests at that event.

Also Mercelida was very blatantly flirting with Helga in that opening scene. Helga...I hope you are up for what she probably sees as "improving relations"

- Gotou-vamp and Asuha? This should be interesting. And exhausting for Gotou-vamp.
- Aww, Lotte looks adorable. I don't like neckties but the outfit as a whole is very cute.
- Heh, Lotte is admitting to having done things she doesn't even understand.
- Ohhhhh, that's what that dripping sound effect was. As far as bathroom plot devices go, that was probably the least offensive I've ever seen. Especially because of how perfectly Naoya handles it. He wastes not a second doing what he needs to do. Doesn't yell, doesn't judge, just does the father thing very smoothly. This show can make anything sweet.
- And Elika (ah that was her name) immediately offers her panties. o_O Awww, she's actually a nice person deep down (obviously).

I'm very glad they left out one aspect of a certain cat-eared character.

Judit attacking Naoya was hilarious. I was expecting them to use the humans can't stay too long in the magic world and vice versa plot point from a few episodes ago to explain Naoya getting ill, but I guess it was more mundane. You could certainly have dealt with that in a less awkward way, Naoya.

That seems to wrap him up pretty quickly. I thought it was going to be some long-term plot. I suppose it still could be, but I'll have trouble taking him seriously as a rival now.

- You're moving around very suspiciously under the covers, Naoya.
- Hahaahha, so Asuha prepares for cooking by taking off her panties. And when you tell her not to she sounds completely shocked that you'd object to such a thing.

- ...Naoya, why are you talking like a virgin in an eroge? "It's getting hot in that spot!" GEE WONDER WHY.
- Ahaha, Judit has tasked Effie and Zelda with helping Naoya get off.
- This is fucking hilarious. Effie and Zelda are adorable.
- HAHAHAHA HOLY SHIT JUDIT.
- Then it get a bit more serious. But as episode 7 made clear, Lotte can be totally powered up from just a kiss to the forehead, so there's no need for her to have sex or anything like that.

- Cooking = fail.
- Okay, assuming Sigurd has finally given up on Lotte, I think he can be an okay character. Just as long as I'm not being asked to take him seriously.

So around 16:45 or so, we get to see the three students standing next to each other in those dresses. With one having nice breasts, and one being rather short. I have to ask. Is this the magic of anime? A plot related to their species? Or are they supposed to be different ages? Should I feel wrong about noticing things like the chest?

Lotte gets to be the classic victim of having a parent who has to worry about her duties. At least, we know that her mother does care. Which is good. Also, her mom has amazing aspects.

The way the episode ended with everyone surprised and in shock was fun.

I know the "No parent would ever <insert negative here>" and "All parents <insert positive here>" is mainly used to comfort a child, but I can't help but think about how in real life (and sometimes fantasy) those statements are technically not really 100% true. Maybe I'm just thinking of these things too much.

The whole relationship angle is going to complicate things. Should I even ask if the monster realm cares about such things?

Why am I not surprised that Naoya was effective as a girl?

It was nice that he was able to confront Mercedes and have a moment with her. No, not the type of moment that resulted in Asuha being born. Although I am thankful for that.

Lotte being able to bond with her mother was nice to have.

It's also good we're given valid reasons for Mercede's actions in regards to leaving Asuha with him and they didn't play the "We'll keep it vague for a dozen episodes" game that some series would pull.

The good news is we had Asuha and Lotte trying on outfits. Some of them are interesting choices. Yeah, I'll just go with that.

HitokiriShadow

Holy crap, now Mercelida is very, very obviously sleeping with her hot female assistant. And actually goes in for a kiss on screen before getting rudely interrupted.

Meanwhile, Asuha really, really likes hugging and kissing other girls. And Lotte thinks Asuha is kind of big sisterly. Awww.

We get a very nice scene between Lotte and Mercelida along with more Lotte/Naoya cuteness as she deals with him being sick and tries to make food for him.

And the show spends several minutes on Naoya having a boner. Between that and Mercelida/Ursula, this was by far the most sexually charged episode of the series, with the kinds of things people would expect based on the premise.... except every single one of the characters involved was an adult.

Effie seems to be some kind of cow girl, and the headmaster was a fox girl. It looks like Wikipedia (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%AD%E3%83%83%E3%83%86%E3%81%AE%E3%81%8A%E3%8 2%82%E3%81%A1%E3%82%83!) lists specific races for some of the characters. I think there was more to it then that.I suspect that Naoya was suffering from a buildup of magic energy that will turn out needs to be sucked out of him periodically for his own good. That would tie in with his being able to recharge Lotte with a forehead kiss and Judit's commit about humans in the magic world.I hope they tie it all up with him becoming the Queen's one man harem.

Asuha's an awesome older sister. Would be nice if someone fucking told Lotte that though.

Good episode all in all though.

So the World Tree is magically erasing Naoya and Asuha's ability to communicate with the residents of that world... so obviously, cures for regular lost voices are going to work.

Well, there were a few nice scenes, particularly with Lotte and Asuha, but overall, I'm not really feeling this storyline.

It should hopefully move things forward with Lotte's family issues and force the relationships beyond the status quo, but I can't say it did much for me either. Lotte really needs to be told that Asuha is her older sister now.

I don't know why they didn't consult Merce about the problem - in particular it is a good time for Naoya to ask why Asuha was sent to the human world since it might be relevant.

I think that was explained in ep 5. Mercelída's sisters were all killed in a fight for the throne and she didn't want that to be repeated.

Episode 10:

- Doesn't look like Lotte is going to make it as an idol.
- But Asuha is there to help her out! I love how this show has really become about these two more than anything else.
- Wait, how did Lucca think to remove panties sooner than Asuha?
- Oh god, Asuha and Lotte should totally do this as a duet. They are beyond adorable together.

- Hahahah, everyone is trying out nopan. Asuha must want to move to where Lucca lives immediately.
- Asuha and Lucca play the pettanko game.
- Mist is 14! A very anime 14.
- Tawawawawa!
- Hahha... run, Effie.
- Oh wow, glorious eyecatch by Hidari.

- Yukata! ...Wait what? This is... a remarkably Japanese festival.
- And I thought they were about to explain why but nope. Not that I mind seeing them in yukata.
- Oh right this must be Asuha's favorite outfit. You're not supposed to wear anything under it! ...Er I don't think that's quite right, Asuha.
- Especially when they're that short, hah.
- Hahah Asuha is making that face.

- Oh it's Sigurd again. No time for you!
- Haha, now this censorship actually makes me laugh. Love you, Dora.
- Almost time for the concert! Do it with Asuha, do it with Asuha!
- Asuha gives Lotte a hairpin. The moment of their mutual confession of love nears!

- Concert time! It's... kind of disastrous. SAVE HER, ASUHA!!
- YES! GO GO ASUHA!
- Oh my god that was adorable. And what do you know, apparently the sound of Kugimiya and Tamura singing at the same time merges into something reminiscent of Momoi Haruko. o_O

- Haha, Asuha makes sure to draw pantylessness in her diary.

Oh... What are you going to do, Naoya? Ah screw the human realm, this place is way better. Asuha's mother is here, and so is Asuha's wife! Asuha can go pantyless with impunity! This is the best place!

This is a really good place to stop so I'll hold here until 13 is out.

Asuha gets some quality time with her mother's lap and boobs.
Oh...now they're home...
Asuha and Lotte! The TRUE PAIRING. Not this Naoya and Lotte creepy pseudo daughter incest bullshit.
Can you hear me now...from across dimensions!
Lotte knows what Judit likes...she likes it rough!
A bug bite???

Okay...that ending seems tacked on...Ini creates a gate so Naoya and Asuha can come back??? I thought Mr. Tree didn't want them there? I guess Ini's awesomeness defys Yaggradasil.

I kinda wish they'd saved the return for the beginning of a second season, but the goodbyes were still very heartfelt. Especially loved that Asuha got to spend more time with her mother.

Speaking of which, I can't believe that Lotte still doesn't know. She's going to be pretty pissed off with all three of them when she does find out.

But at least it ended on Asuha/Lotte!

Lot's of Asuha being awesome and cute and awesome this episode. And we got an really, really nice scene of her with Mercilida. Too bad they couldn't hear each other.

I'm still not a big fan of the plot device this little arc hinged on, but it worked out well enough. Though it was a tad odd, in terms of pacing, to make this big deal out of them having to go back to the human realm and then have it turn out that they can just come right back in the last ~2 minutes.

And now we have Noaya pretty explicitly falling for Lotte, which is all sorts of awkward. And this is probably why the show doesn't have Lotte know about the situation yet, because it will be used for drama later on. I'm annoyed mainly because there's just no good reason for Lotte to not have been told about it six episodes ago.

In any case, the show was a lot of fun and I really, really want a second season.

-Yu-Go-DoRaSiL! It's time to Duel?
-Effie! Start milking. Zelda! Get naked. Olav! Bring for the pretty flowers.
-So Naoya has been gone for months working on a job that can't possibly give him a recommendation. Good luck indign a job in this economy!
-"It sucks I'll never get to see Lotte's boobs get bigger." Asuha is a confirmed lesbian.
-Ini installed interdimensional phone lines?
-Judit is S but not M.
-Heh bugbite.
-Oh so Lotte's wings are growing in.

The first half would probably be a better more touching episode if Naoya and Asuha were silent and you had to infer their lines. Still cute but predictable happy ending. Now will someone just tell Lotte that Asuha is her half sister already!

Episode 11:

- Lotte is super super cute with her hair down.
- "Have a nice chuchu!" :sd:
- So shes finally getting her wings. But something is unusual about it for her?
- Oh, boo. The World Tree is trying to kick Asuha and Naoya out. Don't erase Asuha's picture diary! ;_:
- Stupid World Tree!
- Adorable eyecatch.

- They need to start writing things down...
- God this is getting depressing. Watching Lotte try to put on a brave face and send them off properly is pretty heartbreaking.
- Asuha crying did me in. ;__;

Damn. That was a beautiful, but very sad, episode. What really impressed me is how Lotte handled it. Wasn't expecting her to be so mature.

But... please tell me one episode is enough time to properly address the family issues. We didn't forget about that, right? It's not like this show is getting a second season.

Episode 12:

- Yes! Oh thank god, Mercelida dearly needed some alone time with Asuha.
- Asuha crying makes me so, so sad. ;_; But, so glad she got to be with Mercelida before leaving. (Not that I expect the leaving to be permanent...)
- Hmm. Nice scenes, although it really, really feels like they're having Naoya say he loves Lotte (romantically) only because they feel like they have to, not because it's the most in-character thing to do and the best fit to the story. Having Naoya reconnect with Mercelida instead would be more powerful, if you ask me. I think Lotte has grown enormously and been developed perfectly well without the relationship with Naoya needing to end romantically.
- And nobody told Lotte about her sister! Yet, anyway.

- Asuha wanst to see Lotte's boobs get big! Oh Asuha, never change.
- ...They've got a World Tree sapling?
- ...And now it's videoconferencing.
- It was a bug bite. o_O Still, the fact they they were disappearing hasn't changed, so it's not like they're going to trivialize it all as a silly misunderstanding.

- And of course they get back together again. And the final scene is Asuha leaping into Lotte's arms~!

Kind of an interesting ending. Both episodes were executed incredibly well, although I'm having trouble reaching a conclusion about the plotline itself. I still think not havign Naoya go with Mercelida is a major missed opportunity. So much could be done with that. And not telling Lotte about her sister even at the end is even stranger. At the same time,

But that's this show's problem, and probably why it sold poorly. It's very well executed but it doesn't really have an audience in mind. All the people who are inclined to prejudge shows condemned it as utter filth based on the three sentence synopsis of the plot and never discovered the sweet story. All the people who wanted loli blowjobs didn't get any. The people like us, who actually gave it a chance and weren't in it for porn, are few and far between. And even at the end, a well executed ending went a Lotte route not because it made the most sense, but because... well the male and female protagonist are required to end up together, so sayeth the Gods of Anime Writing. But even there, they don't get together explicitly... the most they've done is a kiss on the forehead and mouthing their feelings to each other when they can't communicate. So even if you're hankering for a Lotte end, it's only implied (though, very clearly).

All that said, I thought it was great, personally, but it's really sad we'll never see more. Although continuing a Lotte route would not be as interesting as going the Mercelida route with a reunited family, which could have been utterly spectacular.

So highly recommended, and my four-way tie for Spring import #5 really wasn't made any easier. I guess the main thing counting against this show is that I've already seen the Vol. 1 sales numbers and know there will be not possibly be a sequel, so I have more incentive to buy Dog Days or Sengoku Otome instead, both of which have at least a fighting chance.

Watching this show is like being in The Emperor's New Clothes. The emperor is not wearing clothes but the people dare not say anything.

The show is so wrong in so many ways and yet it plays it straight even though it is blatant that the crowd it is targeting is probably going to be checking all kinds of creepy doujinshi. It makes me wonder why they didn't just go all the way the makes this a full blown hentai. Or maybe they were trying to find a way to go around Ishihara?

It wasn't too bad but seriously for a "it's so wrong that it's good" anime, I'd rather watch Dororon Enma-kun Meerameera.

I think there have been some that were significantly more lolish that were on TV though none that go so far as some of the manga I have seen. Piano, I am with you on the description when I read it I was aghast. The show though was really sweet and much more about a father daughter relationship.

Like something has said elsewhere though, part of the reason it likly didn't do well is that people who thought it was going to be something else from the description were upset it wasn't, and those who like "cute" didn't give it a chance. I mean really this is less lolish than kiss x sis...

Because the manga is not an erotic manga. It's nothing of the sort-- there is hardly any fan service at all in the manga. It's mostly a cute romantic kind of thing. I don't see why every show has to have tons of breasts in it for you to actually enjoy it. That's not what this show set out to do and you've been fooled by it's premise.

Also Green Green and Princess Lover were both ero-visual novels.

Of course Asuha chose underwear for her research subject, it would be have been surprising if she had chosen anything else. And she appears to have gotten through surprise exposure to old man penis with no trauma.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen an evil Llama.

The highlight of the episode was Mercelida finally getting a solid amount of screentime (even if its a flashback version of her) as we get see how she ended up robbing the cradle with Naoya.

That is actually the traditional way for a succubus to have intercourse with a human. They did it to get around the shota thing but even so it is the first time I have seen an anime make use of the original succubus mode of operation.
