Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2 is coming to the PS3 (http://www.siliconera.com/2011/04/12/hyperdimension-neptunia-mk-2-brings-the-handheld-wars-to-ps3/) this August. It is about handheld game systems as teased, but thankfully, its still a console game. Very nice news. The first game was certainly not the exactly the greatest game ever, but I enjoyed it, and the event scenes were hilarious. Here's hoping the game (and NISA's localization) can match the first game.

First, I still need to finish the first game. My excuse is I've been working on several other games as well.
Second, I'm sort of mixed. On one hand, I do like the idea of being on a strong system like the PS3. On the other hand, it would have been amusing to see a portable version.
Well, the PS3 is probably the best bet over all.

You can make parties with up to four characters and combine attacks using the Lily system.
"Lily System"? Way to be unsubtle about it.

I expect great things for that system. In fact, it BETTER be great!!!

I for one am looking forward to this game(Since I liked the first one.)
Hopefully, with any luck, they will make DLC w/ other older handheld girls ...er, systems.(Atari Lynx, anyone?)

I finished the first part but unfortunately I didn't like Neptunia as much as I did expect I would. So I don't know if I will play the second part yet

Check out who's making cameos in summon attacks in Neptunia Mk-2. (http://www.siliconera.com/2011/05/16/atelier-totori-and-steinsgate-guests-are-in-hyperdimension-neptunia-mk-2/)
And there's some very WTF pictures of the Inafune Keiji attacks.

While its far from an official indication that the game will get released here, NISA president Haru Akenaga says "No problem" to Neptunia Mk-2 being released in the U.S. (http://www.siliconera.com/2011/06/08/will-we-see-hyperdimension-neptunia-mk-2-overseas/)

Good news for everyone who hated the first game's item/healing system: They're changing it. (http://www.siliconera.com/2011/06/14/hyperdimesnion-neptunia-mk-2-finally-lets-players-heal-on-their-own/) Though the article isn't clear on exactly how its going to work now. It's something you do yourself though, rather than relying on a reaction ability.
Also, now you have SP *and* AP, and you apparently have to build up SP to switch and activate goddess mode.

It appears they've addressed two of (in my opinion) the biggest flaws in the original game. The three member party and the healing system both seemed to be big steps backward from its sister game Trinity Universe. In Trinity Universe, the choice of whether or not to heal (and burn lots of AP) as opposed to getting in a few extra attacks to finish off a boss/lurker battle was often an interesting tactical decision.
Also, anything that tends to limit the spamming of goddess mode would be a plus. Now if they also tweak that annoying feature which forced you to wait while search abilities recharged, we'll be getting somewhere...

U.S. release of Neptunia Mk 2 indicated for this year (http://jpgames.de/2011/08/jpgames-de-interview-mit-jack-niida-von-nis-america-2/)
JPGAMES.DE: Are there plans for more cross-games like Trinity Universe or Cross Edge?
Jack Niida: Yeah, definitely. We work very closely with Idea Factory and they make these RPGs with cross clashing games, the latest one is called Neptunia 2 which is coming out later this year in the US and maybe a little later in Europe. That one has Idea Factory and Nippon Ichii characters in it and it actually is a really good Strategy-RPG game it feels almost like a Sakura Wars‘ish kind of title. I think a lot of our RPG fans are gonna like it.
Seems a little late to be announcing a game for this year (for NISA), and that would be a surprisingly quick release after the game just came out in Japan and they only just released the first game earlier this year.... but if its true, that's awesome news.

Holy shit, they changed it to an SRPG? That would explain the glut of new characters.

Nothing I've seen or heard would make me think of as an SRPG. It does sound like there is more strategy involved though, as the battle system now involves movement range and requires some mild degree of strategy rather than just dishing out as much damage as possible in each turn, but its still far from an SRPG as far as I know. I think the guy being interviewed is using a very, very loose definition of SRPG.
This thread contains a little bit of talk about the battle system from someone who's playing it. (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/995177-hyperdimension-neptunia/59701586)

Hmm, interesting.
I do hope its more challenging though. Any idea how disappointing it is to figure out a way to completely break a game, yet realize it doesn't matter because you never die anyway?

Sometime in spring 2012 (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/16/nis-america-bringing-disgaea-to-android-vita-neptunia-and-clan/)
Really can't wait. Everything I've heard about the game makes it look a vast improvement over the original.
