View Full Version : Xebec anime cast credits

For most anime series I watch, the voice cast in Japanese credits tend to be near the very beginning of the ending sequence. Some are different and near the end of the sequence instead, and I've found that every time I've seen this happen it's a series that's animated by Xebec. Not that probably anyone really knows (since, well... it's not a big deal), but I have to wonder why the heck they do that... Some kind of studio-related quirk? Are there any non-Xebec examples? Kind of bugs me since I'm often looking (trying, given limited Japanese knowledge) for certain cast names as soon as the ED credits start.

Isn't it pretty easy to spot the cast list just by looking for "キャスト"?

I know. I don't have a problem in spotting them. Just bugs me since I tend to get ready to look over the cast credits as soon as the ED starts for the most part (did it for both Softenni and Hen Semi recently, and then had the "Oh, I guess it's Xebec" moment again with them). Also, it's an annoyance if I just want to look at the cast and skip the rest of the ED (admittedly very rare since I only tend to sometimes do this for rewatches and Xebec doesn't make many series I rewatch...)

Actually that was often done in olden days.
See the ending credit sequences of, say, Sally the Witch (1966), Himitsu no Akko-chan (1969), Tomorrow's Joe (1970), Astroganger (1972), Aim for the Ace! (1973).
In the middle of or in the latter half of the ending credit sequence, the names of voice actors appear, after the names of animators.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the information. That is rather interesting. I guess someone at Xebec at likes doing things the way they were done in the "olden days" as far as credit sequences go.

Never noticed this about XEBEC but only seen a small handful of shows. Good studio though.
I wondered if it was a network quirk but you've said it's an old tradition so that I find interesting.
NHK shows will list full animation credits (Key Animators, Tweeners, Painters) but doesn't seem to list assistant studios.
