“Morita-san wa Mukuchi” is about Morita Mayu, a highschool girl who rarely speaks. The reason behind it is not because she doesn’t like to talk nor because she has nothing to say. The reason she rarely speaks is due to the fact she thinks too much before speaking, thus losing the timing to speak altogether.

Of course Morita can't speak...her friend Miki doesn't allow her to speak and what her mom taught her freaks people out.

Morita really reminds me of Sola from Sketchbook and I like that.

Of course, both characters are voiced by the same seiyuu. Morita seems like a cross between Sola and Kaminomi's Shiori. While I like energetic characters, it's nice to see some introverted characters getting some love too!

- Mayu brushes Hana's hair! Can we still end with a Mayu x Miki scene, or will Mayu cheat on her wife?
- Hahhaa, Mayu concentrates so hard she starts breathing heavily and creeping Mayu out. XD
- I think Hana may take the initiative here! Their male classmates are enraptured by the yuri aura.
- Huh, I was expecting a punchline at the end, but that was kind of nice.

They delayed it one week, saying they would be back with two episodes next week. Then when I went to check a week later, they had the same message, but that they would be back with three episodes the next week. It's really very odd as I had noticed nothing happened with the Japanese broadcast. Wonder if it was some sort of weird license problem. Ah well... Morita-san is short anyway so I'm OK with waiting.

- Who cares if it's a good place for boyfriends? It's a great place for Miki and Mayu's love to blossom!

Well, the previous OAD episode was a little over 23 minutes and had various segments in it. Some of which get repeated in the TV series. Also the animation and artwork is a bit different.

Hm, when Chihiro walks up to Mayu and Miki, she sees the expression on their faces and says either "Nani yo?" or "Ani yo". Sounds to me like Fence is right, it sounds way more like "Ani yo." That would also explain Miki's "Onii-san ka?" which is said in an "Oh, your brother?" way, and makes more sense than Miki referring to him as a generic "older but still young guy" brand of onii-san. It also makes more sense why Chihiro would mention that he has a girlfriend, because Miki was expressing interest. I don't think Chihiro would know the guy had a girlfriend if she just met him walking to the station.

So yeah, sounds like the CR translator didn't have a script or wasn't paying attention. Submitted a report to CR.

Well, with a new "season", we get a new opening. This episode also introduces Maki-sensei, who seems pretty fun. Hopefully we get some more of her. Morita is cute, and Yamamoto is not, or rather sensei finds that she has her cute moments too, of course. :)

- New "season", new OP! No more Motto Motto ;_;
- No more "Chuu!" either. First OP was way better!
- I love how tiny the "2" is in the logo now.
- Holy crap Mayu can staple through a stack of papers that must be 50-thick. That's some stapler. And some hand strength. (Or just animators not thinking anyone would be silly enough to focus on the thickness of the papers being stapled. I sure showed them!)
- If the silence is killing you, say more erotic things to Mayu!
- Maki-sensei totally came in late so they'd have to do it all for her.
- Uhhh the coffee joke really does not sound like it survived translation at all. I got it from what Mayu was saying (surnames and all) but I don't see why translators are so terrified of basic translation notes. Especially when the joke is like 15% of the episode due to the length...
- Oh Yamamoto, don't try to act so tough.

- Well Hana is clearly very very serious about her baking.
- Is she talking about baking, or trying to manage her hair?
- Hana-chan has a scary home life.
- Mayu, that's not how those work.

This episode seemed focused on Chihiro, which is nice since it feels like she doesn't get it often. She's the culture festival representative, and even though boys are never any help, she has her usual group of friends around to help out. It looks like Chihiro is developing a crush on Yamamoto. :)

- Chihiro and Miki are fighting! Heh, I just came off the final episode of Ikamusume which also used the "friends fighting" thing.
- Mayu is so adorable in her casual clothes on her bed...
- And they make up with much less worry than Mayu felt.
- Recorder to Randoseru characters in the background. CR needs to get that so I have short-format anime to watch next season. At least I think RtR was announced as short format.
