猫神やおよろず
This is one of the first non-commercial works I ever really got aware of, with some of the first fanart I saw on danbooru, oh, 4-5 years ago? God has it been that long? Thought it was cute art from Ginko/Flipflops, never though we'd fast forward 4 years and it would have an anime. It's another all-star seiyuu cast, including Horie Yui and Tomatsu Haruka as the leads.
Airs Saturday, July 9 at 08:30 JST on AT-X
Animation studio: AIC PLUS+

Woohoo It's on Crunchyroll (http://www.crunchyroll.com/cat-god).
-Aww adorable Op with Touhou like designs.
-Dreamcast fuck yeah!
-Mayu is a bad girl. Father is henpecked.
-Segata Sanshiro!
-In japan a strangely dressed loli with a bunny backpack can buy beer?
-Anti-Binbo-kami defence forced?
-Hehehe. Arranged marriage before checking genders. Do not fight the will of the gods Mayu!
-Now we commence with the curtain fire battle!
-Bullet spam war called on account of Great Depression Binbo.
-Eyes on the road!
-Shamo makes finding sales very convenient.
-This is not beer! This is tea with sugar in it!
-Hehehe. Omelette rice is a step up. They're too poor to be affected by poverty powers. Hehehe.
-Hmm. Shamo is a Curse Maker (http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/144853/).
This show is basically what I would want out of a Touhou a anime. Cute, silly, gods. Plus animal ears.

Mayu's a hit with the ladies!
This was lots of fun, the cast is fantastic (Taketatsu Ayana ~desuwa!), and the animation is well done. Yuzu is the quintessential Horie Yui character, so <3 her as well.
I look forward to the rest of the female cast falling for Mayu, and Gonta always striking out with Yuzu.
Also, why are Binbokami always so adorable?

I thought the first episode was only ok as far as humor goes, but I will give it two or three more to get the characters all introduced and to get into a groove where I'm LOLing more.

Mayu is banished from heaven.
Loli liek to get shitfaced.
So Mayu has two chicks fighting over her. Right on. Mayu...you DO NOT A HUSBAND, BUT A WIFE.
Their fathers are idiots...or knew what they were doing.
Like strangefour said...this reminds a lot of Touhou.

Mayu has a wife (to be)! Sadly, Mayu isn't thrilled with the prospect. But her fiancee is!!
It was a bit jumbled, sometimes feeling a bit abrupt in its jumps from scene to scene, but that was pretty fun.

Episode 1:
- Ah yes, another seiyuu explosion anime. Tomatsu Haruka! <3 Horie Yui! Also, totally did not expect the cats to be human sized. For some reason I assumed they'd be tiny.
- Wait. Beer? Well, okay she's probably hundreds of years old but as far as he can tell... >_>
- Oh and yes, Toyosaki Aki. <3
- Hahah, she bankrupts an entire corporation in revenge for having her beer shaken up. Wait, does beer do that? I don't drink so I honestly have no idea. >_>
- Heh this is like a whole show of Toyosaki doing her "kindergarten Yui" voice.
- Sasana! Kayano Ai! Mayu's wife!!
- And another girl whon loves her! Taketatsu Ayana this time. Man, Mayu sure has a harem.
- Yuzu brings Shamo home. Shamo is so cute...
- Shamo left. Come back, Shamo!
- Of course she does.
Well that was pretty cute. Nothing amazing, but should be totally watchable.

- Giant pots. They are bad for business. And traffic.
- ....And Mayu dumps it without even looking to see what it contains. It was probably full of gold.
- Yoshino! She's adorable.
- And... bad at judging the size of things. So, no gold, just something necessary to get all sakura trees blossoming. Oops.
- Don't make her cry! Bad Mayu!
- Oh, hah, the trash dude is the guy Shamo put out of business.
- Off to a huge ass landfill. But Mayu's wives arrive to help her!
- Awwww Yoshino. ;_; Don't cry! Dmanit Mayu, find that pot.

-Mayu has a big box. *cough* And what's up with her ear garterbelt?
-In Japan they use giant jars 10 feet tall as traffic cones.
-Mike is much skinner than he was in Sketchbook Fullcolors.
-Illegal Dumping! I think I's seen that road bend in a dozen different anime. usually someone is driving a moped or car off it.
-Cherry blossom goddess has no sense of scale.
-Mayu shouldn't be getting so much of a guilt trip for an unlabeled jar. -Yoshino is at fault.
-Reimu and Marisa arrive to help search the landfill.
-It's going to turn out to be the wrong jar in the end isn't it.
-Triple Tech (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCmXL9uiEKc)! Paper birdy bindings.
-What the? When Yoshino's making the trees bloom (17:20~ish) why is an old instrumental song who's name I can't remember playing? It's stuck in my head now taunting me.
There's a bunch of repeated action and dialog in this episode. But for comedic effect it works. Nice to know the grocery store owner lives a happier life as a trash man now. I wonder if he handles next week's mangaka's trash.

I guess you are referring to the piano phrase between 17:20-17:25, which sounded very much like Feels So Good (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7dg8vRDM68) (starting at 0:15 seconds) to me, but the rest of the song sounded different, so I think the composer just borrowed that part.

-Special issue... *elven panic*
-Oh hey, Effie's boss shows up in the manga.
-Binbo-hime you should probably pay... for... ya know what nevermind. Just don't curse me.
-Shamo is friends with the mangaka. Huh. Wasn't expecting that. How does an artist become friends with poverty incarnate? I figured she'd be a friend of Yuzu's.
-Mayu has the most important duty of all. Playing with a Game Gear!
That's a whole lot of outlets for such a small apartment in the first place.
-Garbageman no more. It's tofu boss time.
-Commence Operation: Imperishable Night.
-Oh no. The frontal assault is a failure. Even Operation: Perfect Cherry Blossom has no effect. These are crafty little special forces elves.

They're dwarves, seven dwarves, actually. I didn't realize the reference until I looked something up recently. Yukina has the kanji for "snow" in her name too, so doesn't seem to be a coincidence. This Snow White is more of a slave driver than a sweet princess, though. :)

I would have liked the episode better if we didn't have the "Because we're facing tiny creatures, they'll be invincible, and we'll be stupid" moment. That was the weak part of the episode.
Yukina is kind of a cruel one, isn't she? No, her relying on the "I won't force you" strategy doesn't negate her earlier attitude.
Actually, speaking of cruel, I'm surprised Mayu hasn't snapped yet, given that people keep treating her like crap. Really, the only thing she's guilty of this episode is putting the "feather" on top of the pile.
I have to wonder. Does that often happen in Japan? I mean, I can technically run a lot more items than were shown running in that joke sequence without any problems.... Not that power outs and brown outs never happen, but those seem to be regardless of how much is running.
I wish the episode has focused more on the manga scenes. I wanted to see the next part, darn it.

This episode was a big step up for the series. It really focused on Yuzu's tragic past and how she's grown in the present, Mayu showing how much she cares about her, and a new character who doesn't seem as caring at first, but as it turns out, does all that can be done to help Yuzu out. It was really tough seeing Mayu try to stop Yuzu from reliving her horrible memory, only to take the form of a normal meowing cat from Yuzu's point of view. It was nice to see it dig up a happy memory for Yuzu, and to see her really grow at the end there.

Back to random fun after a surprisingly touching story last week. This is the second beach episode this week that wasn't a beach episode. It was also a hot springs episode that wasn't a hot springs episode (although I am surprised when there occasionally is some fanservice, since everything else seems so tame). There was ping pong and some other staples, though. Not bad, though. Just hope we get more of last week's feeling again sometime.

Oh good, we're back to nice stories of Yuzu's past. This time, it's not too far back, as everyone looks exactly the same age, and it doesn't involve tragedies like the last one, although that particular tragedy was essentially the cause of Yuzu's determination. I can't say I care about antiques at all, but I think you could have replaced antiques with anything and it would have worked. What mattered was Yuzu's love for something she's passionate about, and her desire to honor her late parents, and to learn from the grandfather she respects, as well as to show how much she had already learned from her parents before they passed. Unfortunately, it looks like next week won't be as good, like the previous one was.
Also, the existence of gods was completely irrelevant to this episode.

Well that's all for this show. Not one I'm going to miss or remember too much, and this episode didn't change that any. It was just another mediocre episode like most of the series, other than an episode or two that turned out to be surprisingly good.

-A catgirl and a witch attacking a temple? Sounds like is bullet curtain action time!
-Mayu has long hair? She's beautiful!?
-Mayu's mom! Yay magical blasting battle time! ... or a quick retreat.
-Yoshino is useless. But cutely so.
-The rescue party has be flung to Hueco Mundo.
-Shamo is the last to arrive to the party in memory of Mayu.
-Surprise tsundere Amane.
-Lord Tsukuyomi's kind of an asshole.
-Or not...
-Mayu's back. Time for omelette rice! Wait Yuzu, come back. Are you going to make food? Mayu's very hungry.
-Party on!
-Manga pinchy!
I kind of wish there had been a bit of a Touhou like fight in this episode at least. But this is a very laid back kind of show. They could have done more with the gods hanging out in a normal town setting, but this show was still fun. Definitely enjoyable. I'm gonna miss Mayu & Shamo.

Oh yeah, this show.
Anyway, damn, the Mayu/Yuzu episodes are the best. We've finally made our way back to the beginning of the show, and found out how they met.
Slightly spoiled in that Koutetsu was Katsu Anri, who's voice makes me want to punch his characters in the face (I blame this mostly on Tsuchimikado)

What is this plot shaped object that has shown up in Nekogami?
Anyway, Amane's incredibly Itou Kanae. Almost hilariously so. I like her claws, and interesting that she was once a real cat.
And Mayu again demonstrates that she's not just a lazy bum, and can be quite perceptive and sage, when she so desires.
BTW. Shamo!

Episode 7:
- Festival time. You know who Meiko and Sasana remind me of? Sakurako and Himawari from Yuru Yuri.
- Yoshino! Shamo!
- Too much Gonta early on. But his mom is hot.
Felt uneventful even by this show's standards, but it was an alright episode. Mayu needs to hurry up and threesome with Sasana and Meiko.

-Thank you Shamo for arriving and stopping Gonto's stupid story. And you brought a Dreamcast. Shamo is the best god!
Never thought I'd be happy to see a Dreamcast.
At any rate, this plot like substance continues to exist, and its still somewhat confusing to have in this show.

Goddamn. The bit with Sasana and Meiko after they got flung out of Mayu's house was amazing. Really heartfelt.
Anyway, life goes on, and we all know that Mayu's real wife is Yuzu.

Was SEGA a part of the production committee on this series? I spotted...
- a Genesis (the same og model I had as a kid)
- a Game Gear
- a Saturn
- possibly a Nomad
- and a Dreamcast
Did anyone catch a SEGA CD or 32X?
