Games really should have their own threads though. That was a holdover from a bygone era and there's really no reason to keep using it. In fact, I'd rather we didn't.

I was going to tell him to use the existing FF13-2 thread.... but then I looked for it, and there doesn't seem to be one. So there's nothing wrong with this thread being made.

Sorry, I didn't realise how long ago the last post was. I have completely lost track of the passage of time because I could of almost sworn I saw that thread pop up recently. That and the Shin Megami Tensei series seems to be confined to it's own thread too.

I guess this thread will do, even though like you I recall a FF13-2 thread around here somewhere (infact I was specifically looking for it when I found the mega thread), could of been the other forum though.

Lightning had all the makings of an excellent character, then the writers in XIII seemed to forget about her down the stretch.

I've been pretty much avoiding media for this game just because I got so sucked into the pre-release footage for the original FF XIII, but on a whim I watched the "boss" video that IGN posted. I can tell already that I'm going to despise the Moogle. The damn things are only tolerable when they can only speak in text, and having to hear it audibly go "Kupo!" all the time is going to drive me nuts. And honestly, what little I saw of the dialogue was pretty terrible ("It's a giant...ARM!" "Yeah, and I'll bet it doesn't want to shake hands!").

When I finished FF XIII, I lamented that unless there was a direct sequel that that would probably be the last we'd see of that battle system. Now that FF XIII-2 is an actual game, I strangely find myself conflicted about the battle system more or less being the same. I enjoyed that combat system in the original game, but over the course of Platinum-ing the game I pretty much mastered it. Aside from QTEs, FF XIII-2 doesn't seem to really add any new wrinkles to the battle system, so I'm concerned that boredom will really set in early on. Oh well. The game looks like FF XIII again, and I liked FF XIII so I'll probably like this one.

There may be changes to the battle system that aren't apparent just in the promotional videos that have been released. And really, it will be an improvement if they just give you more freedom in how your able to use it early in the game. And by not making half the classes insanely expensive in AP/whatever costs to the point that they're nearly worthless. Though that's assuming the game uses the same or a similar Crystarium system, it could use something very different.
