Quite a number of harem anime have harem leads that are so clueless and dense to the attention of their harem members that their insensitivity bothers on cruelty and criminality.
What anime has had these harem leads realized how dense and clueless they were all along to the romantic attentions and showed remorse and were apologetic? (This also includes reverse harems and yaoi/yuri harems)

There was an unexpectedly pleasant scene in Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi where [not naming names but I'll spoiler tag this anyway] the lead awkwardly bumbled his way out of an also somewhat awkward "confession" from one of the girls, only to get a block or two away before thinking "...Wait a second, something isn't right", and then went back to face her properly and respectfully. And didn't even make himself look like an ass in the process. When that scene was over I was left thinking "Wow, that was pretty cool actually." It just felt like it was done right - something you almost never see.

Heh, as soon as I saw this thread, this is the scene I was thinking about too. Probably one of the most pleasant ways to wrap up a plot like that.
However, I can't think of any other examples right now. I'm just drawing a blank.

Isn't it a prerequisite for a male lead to be dense and clueless in a harem series? haha.

Rin from Shuffle came immediately to mind. After Kaede makes a last ditch effort to win him, Rin storms out and just goes off on himself, looking back at what he's done by living with her and some ramblings about his interactions with the other girls. His settling of the issue was truly heartwrenching to watch.

Only in Shuffle and only because he picked the right girl in the end.
For everyone else, guys/girls with a harem shouldn't require to care about their harem. :P

Wind, A Breath of Heart....sort of?
I say sort of for 2 reasons. Although I assume it was based on a visual novel, they didn't really seem to go the harem route for the anime, as such (that I recall).
And secondly, he didn't actually get remorseful until he got yelled at for being an insensitive clod
Iirc, also the remorseful part also didn't happen in the tv airing, but in the disc specials? The Tv airing ended at a really bad spot too.
edit - not that being based on a visual novel automatically qualifies the show as a harem, mind you...
