I got Pokemon Black and White for Christmas. I've had a Pearl version for like 5 years, but I only got a few badges and lost interest. So I haven't really played any of the the Gen IV games. I assumed this wouldn't be a problem, but then I heard there was actually some continuity between the Gen IV and Gen V games.

So... to those who have played both... do you think I should restart my Pearl version and play that, or just play Black or White version now?

Continuity? Not any more than previous generations. In fact, the previous generations are even more removed from the story than usual, since it takes place in a much farther-away region (basically across the world in pseudo-New York, rather than all near each other in pseudo-Japan as all the previous ones have been), which is part of the major effort made to make Generation V stand on its own as a "new beginning" of sorts. So really, it's the best one to start without having played previous ones. There are still a few appearances from characters from previous generations, including IV, so it's a little added bonus for those who have played the games in which they appeared previously, but it's really not necessary. Not that most people play Pokemon games for the story anyway. :P

No problem; I hope you like it. By the way, we had a thread for this (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showthread.php?t=106461) when it first came out, if you want to check that out and/or post your thoughts as you're playing.
